Every show starts with the ’70s! We’ll rediscover forgotten rockers, revisit unfairly maligned disco beats and replay power-pop favorites. Next: plenty of new releases, occasional live bands and more. Don’t let the nickname confuse you.

Upcoming events:

Wednesday, October 18th, 9pm - Midnight: Singles Going Seventies!
This Bay-area punk duo released their album The Envoy (Nervous Intent) earlier this year; it's a concept album based on books by Ursula K. Le Guin, but even if you can't tell Ursula Le Guin from Ursula Andress you'll get swept up in the band's raw energy and power. You'll think there must be more than bass and drums in the band, but you'll be wrong. Catch this live set on WFMU Wednesday November 8 at 9pm!

Wednesday, October 25th, 9pm - Midnight: Punk/Post-punk/Power Pop/New Wave Throwback!
Evan "Funk" Davies returns to his college radio roots and plays nothing but punk, post-punk, power pop, and new wave records (that’s right, records!) from the late '70s and early '80s — all from his personal collection. It’s one of EFD's most popular shows of the year, and it’s become an October tradition, so don’t miss it! Tune in to WFMU Wednesday night, October 25, at 9pm

Wednesday, November 1st, 9pm - Midnight: The Paranoid Style and Proper Ornaments
From our nation’s capital we welcome The Paranoid Style to the WFMU studios! Their album Rolling Disclosure landed in EFD’s Top 10 of 2016 with a winning combination of catchy poppy tunes and clever lyrics. They’re back with a new EP, Underworld U.S.A. (Bar/None) plus a show at Union Hall in Brooklyn on Friday October 27th. Fans of the New Pornographers, in particular, will want to tune in for this live set.

Also on tonight’s show: London’s Proper Ornaments, fronted by James Hoare (Ultimate Painting, Veronica Falls) and Max Oscarnold (TOY, Pink Flames). They’ve been making records since 2011, and their latest, Foxhole (Slumberland), came out earlier this year. Not surprisingly it’s filled with warm guitar-driven psych tunes, and the band delivers that same sound — perhaps more stretched out — in this live set. Tune in Wednesday November 1 at 9pm for both of these live sets!

Wednesday, November 8th, 9pm - Midnight: Street Eaters
This Bay-area punk duo released their album The Envoy (Nervous Intent) earlier this year; it's a concept album based on books by Ursula K. Le Guin, but even if you can't tell Ursula Le Guin from Ursula Andress you'll get swept up in the band's raw energy and power. You'll think there must be more than bass and drums in the band, but you'll be wrong. Catch this live set on WFMU Wednesday November 8 at 9pm!
