Playlist for The Evan "Funk" Davies Show - June 17, 2008

Tuesdays 11pm - 2am on WFMU 91.1 fm 90.1 fm wfmu.org

Starting with the 70s -- it could be a classic (or obscure) punk rocker, a forgotten disco diva, a long-unheard hit record, or none of these. What happens next depends on what's in the WFMU new bin and whether I remember my records from home. Tune in and find out! You'll even hear a live band once in a while.

That Mockinpott track was remarkable. I actually stopped mid-typewriter*cide-rant to remark on it. (1936 Remington Noiseless Portable. Tragic violence. Gruesome photo — no, wait! horns!)

Wed. 6/18/08 12:03am From: Jessica

Laurie: The typewriter came from a little town near my family's place of origin. In Norway. [Swedish-borne Norwegian joke.]

Wed. 6/18/08 1:21am From: efd

awesome!
although I have to admit I am pretty distracted by "Spilte skjorta av Tyskland i oppvarmingskamp"

Wed. 6/18/08 1:24am From: Sybil

Awwwwwww...

Wed. 6/18/08 1:25am From: efd

omg, that cub is TINY!

Wed. 6/18/08 1:29am From: Laurie

I KNOW. She has three more. They're probably out of frame in a cubpile. One time, one cub was cuddling with mommy and the other three were in a cubpile. They all seemed to wake up at the same time, and then they nuzzled and snuggled into and onto each other in an attempt to get comfortable again. It was so cute!!!

Wed. 6/18/08 1:32am From: E.L.

Watching that video feed to "the walk" is pretty hilarious.

Wed. 6/18/08 1:33am From: efd

haha! glad you appreciated that, that ended up working pretty well!

Wed. 6/18/08 1:34am From: Laurie

The zoo where these lions reside is cage-free -- 150 acres of wild terrain.

They also work with the World Wildlife Fund.

No clue what they do in the wintertime, though!

Wed. 6/18/08 1:34am From: Amanda

I must tell you all this is the cutest lion family I have ever seen on a webcam, in my life. Thank you.

And now I know how to do the Walk, which is also important.

Wed. 6/18/08 1:35am From: efd

there's more dances where that came from, believe me!
And by the end of the summer you'll know them all.

Wed. 6/18/08 1:44am From: Amanda

I can only imagine how much better that mic break sounded for those listeners who *didn't* have the webcam on. "Oh look, the little lion almost fell over!"

When everyone has learned all the disco dances... only then can the EFD meetup take place.

Wed. 6/18/08 1:44am From: Randy in NC

efd - this new CD sounds great doesn't it? Did you get a chance to see any of their 21 shows live on the web?

Wed. 6/18/08 1:47am From: efd

I didn't, I actually didn't find out they were being webcast until they were up to the later albums that I wouldn't have been as interested in. Probably wouldn't have been able to see them anyway with the time difference.

Wed. 6/18/08 1:49am From: Randy in NC

They came on usually at 4PM our time. Audio and video quality suffered from a low bandwidth link, but it sure looked like they and the crowd were having fun.

Wed. 6/18/08 1:57am From: Randy in NC

Espo! Cheevers!, Green!

Wed. 6/18/08 1:58am From: efd

Bucyk! Sanderson! Hodge! McKenzie!

goodnight everybody!

Wed. 6/18/08 1:59am From: E.L.

See you next week, Evan. Thanks for the rock and dance moves!

Wed. 6/18/08 1:59am From: Sybil

Bah none!

Wed. 6/18/08 2:01am From: Laurie

Ha ha, the fourth lion is behind Mommy Lion.

Wed. 6/18/08 2:01am From: Laurie

Good night!

Wed. 6/18/08 2:02am From: Sybil

Could it be...

http://www.viva-mente.com/

Thanks for tonight all, especially EFD!!!

Wed. 6/18/08 2:05am From: efd
