Every show starts with a cut from the ‘70s: Rediscovering the forgotten rockers, revisiting the once-hated disco beats, replaying the power-pop favorites. Next: copious amounts of new releases and occasional live bands. Also: I’m the biggest Nick Gilder fan on WFMU.

I will never, ever tire of this song (last train). Actually, I'll never tire of any of the Monkees' hits, period, which I suppose is partially the point of this program ;-)

More monkey (Monkee) business here tonight than a Dave The Spazz show.

First concert I ever saw was the Monkees. 1968. I was eleven years old. I wore a paisley shirt and had a Beatle haircut. And I wore my belt so the buckle was on the right side because that's how Davy Jones wore his.

The Monkees were my first band. When I was 10, we barely had a record player or radio (mostly the car radio tuned to easy listening pop), but we sure as hell had a TV, and I watched that damn show every Monday night (it was on Monday, wasn't it?)
Avatar Wed. 3/19/14 10:29pm MikeY:

How many SHE covers are there
  Wed. 3/19/14 10:32pm Clay:

GREAT show Evan and Ms. Lichtman! For me the best B&H tune is "Girl I'm Out To Get You." Fantastic.

They were about rebellion, about political and social upheaval!
Avatar    Wed. 3/19/14 10:33pm pacific standard simon:

And then there was Boyce & Hart on I Dream of Jeannie, and The Standells (?) on Gilligan's Island, and The Seeds (I think) on The Mothers-in-Law, and much more...

Maybe that was it. SOMEONE was on Gilligan's Island, though. They were called The Mosquitoes, but that was clearly just for the show.

"The Mosquitoes" on Gilligan's Island were played by The Wellingtons. They have a long listing on IMDB.

@Parq - Really? That's scary! I wonder if Boyce & Hart (or Barbara Eden) had any gun stories.

Oops, I mean Dominick.
Avatar    Wed. 3/19/14 10:53pm JakeGould:

“Wait, B&H were on Bewitched *and* Jeannie?” There was this magical time in the 1960s where Hollywood TV was a lot freer & more fun than folks think. And that was it!
Avatar    Wed. 3/19/14 10:58pm pacific standard simon:

"Bingo, Bango, Bongo and Irving" -- Uncle Michael, I didn't realize that you were telling me the names of "The Mosquitoes". One can only wonder at the interface of your brain to your basement archive of Gilligan's Island episodes.
  Wed. 3/19/14 11:00pm Mike Sin:

Really interesting show tonight! You sure are a pro with those guests, dude.
  Wed. 3/19/14 11:01pm Bernard Twinky:

Avatar Wed. 3/19/14 11:08pm efd:

hey, thanks Mike!
Avatar Wed. 3/19/14 11:17pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

The Wellingtons, of course played the first season theme song. The incidental music that year (who can forget the Gilligan's Island incidental music?) was composed by one Johnny Williams, who had a few hits in the 1970s scoring a shark flick and some campy space thrillers.
Avatar    Wed. 3/19/14 11:19pm pacific standard simon:

If anyone else is interested in the subject of rock group cameos on '60s TV shows, the following site has a PDF listing of confirmed sightings (also films).

So, Boyce & Hart also appeared on The Flying Nun! (Sorry if you already mentioned it -- I missed the beginning of the show.)
