  9:09pm
Amanda:

Feel like I have heard their ELO cover before and loved it before. But how can I have? I must have dreamed it.
  9:14pm
cheri:

evan could you play some polly brown for me,,if you could i'll be forever in your debt,,thnx evan
  9:16pm
Joe:

These guys obviously don't know the Bob Seger "only if followed by the word "system"" rule.
  9:18pm
Amanda:

No idea that Bob Seger was oppressed, btw.
  9:19pm
efd:

hi everyone! A little frantic at the moment but happy to see you all this evening.
  9:20pm
wicked witch of the west:

efd, stay clear of the window if you don't want to hitch a ride with me.
  9:25pm
cheri:

evan have you any idea if you'll be on the fall/spring schedule yet??
  9:27pm
john:

Hey Evan! Wow, that Baskervilles track was great. Not sure how I missed it first time round.
  9:30pm
Joe:

SLA/Dirtbombs connection = mind = blown.
  9:31pm

  9:38pm
cheri:

evan,, i hope to god you'll be back on the schedule,,,but in the mean time PLEASE play some polly brown,,
  9:40pm
AZ:

Evan, do we need to start bombarding the powers that be with expressions of our fanatical devotion to your program?
  9:45pm
efd:

I hope not! It's going to be announced a little later than originally planned... at this point such outpourings wouldn't have an affect anyway, I don't think. But I appreciate the thought!

Cheri, thanks for the support but it doesn't look good for Polly Brown tonight.
  9:45pm
Joe:

great pick Davies - true classic from Jean Grae
  9:49pm
bauchner:

What is EFD's bed music?
  9:50pm
JMD:

Dang, that Brought Low was rockin'! Thanks EFD, you always know how to brought the rock.
  9:52pm
Joe:

a loop from "Saturday Night Fever" by the Lordz of Brooklyn - sampled from "American Woman" by the Guess Who.
  9:52pm
efd:

Joe D, don't let me down.
  9:52pm
efd:

... and, you did not.
  9:54pm
bauchner:

! Awesome, thanks Joe D and EFD!!
  10:05pm
Danne D:

Hi there Funk Fans.

8(
  10:05pm
cheri:

evan i want your opinoin---do you think i've matured since i droped my phoney personas?? also keep on rocking!!!!!
  10:11pm
PB from SI:

E"F"D, you make being stuck at work at 10 pm much more tolerable.

Now if you could just swing by my apartment in Staten Island after your show and shut the windows I left open so the rain doesn't get in, you'd really make my night.
  10:12pm
Danne D:

ah, PB, I think cheri's already tried that one to trap Evan :)

I'm still sad over my playoff loss last week 8(
  10:16pm
Danne D:

Night People totally ripping off Beastin' the Airwaves on that one...
  10:19pm
Amanda:

"Brankage"?
  10:20pm
Danne D:

Hi Amanda :D
  10:21pm
efd:

"ripping off" sounds pretty harsh, Danne.
  10:24pm
Danne D:

ummm

pilfering?

:)
  10:25pm
Danne D:

I'm still crabby from my loss to the Guns of Broxton :(

Now I have to beat up Aharon in the people's championship (also called the 3rd place match).

Guns' are taking on some Evan guy...
  10:25pm
efd:

My point is just because one show did something doesn't mean another show wouldn't also have the same idea on their own.
  10:26pm
john:

Gosh Danne, does that mean I won the dogs' championship last week for 5th?
  10:26pm
Joe:

the people's championship... the Joe Belock memorial Trophy?
  10:27pm
cheri:

well evan i'm heading out now have a terrific vacay,,,and i hope i'll see you again very soon, g'nite
  10:27pm
Joe:

wait, not memorial - that man is ALIVE
  10:27pm
efd:

re fantasy baseball, funny how my genius moves from last week are having the exact opposite effect this week.

It's like John Sterling always says, you can't predict baseball!
  10:30pm
john:

And my idiot moves from two weeks ago led to an 11-1 rout in the 5th place match after four days of slumps against efd!
  10:30pm
PB from SI:

Danne D, how do you think I feel? I was eliminated from the "consolation bracket" from a tie last week. A TIE! That's like kissing your sister, then getting punched in the ear by your cousin.
  10:34pm
Danne D:

lol PB :)

Last week was interesting for me as I totally started throwing stuff up to the ceiling hoping it would stick. I mean I pitched Jeremy Bonderman for crying out loud. Kinda hard to win when all of your opponents pitchers seem to be throwing 2 hitters...and then it gets to his GOOD pitchers...
  10:34pm
john:

Never realized the phrase "killed by ants" could sound so much like "Joan Baez," but there it is.
  10:35pm
efd:

oooh, I was wondering what happened if there was a tie. Sorry you found out the hard way, PB. (And thanks for the nice comment earlier)
  10:35pm
Danne D:

Joan Baez getting killed by ants is one of the signs of the apocalypse, no?
  10:36pm
Danne D:

ties go to the team that won the season series between the teams, efd. It was actually the one area I was pretty well set up in for the playoffs.
  10:37pm
Danne D:

Okay so this has nothing to do with nothing but are these really the best toys of 2010? I mean this picture seems borderline obscene...

http://shine.yahoo.com/channel/parenting/best-toys-of-2010-2392588/#photoViewer=1
  10:40pm
john:

No, Danne, that'd be a sign that there is a just God.
  10:41pm
Joe:

I could drink a case of... ants.

No, wait, that's Joni Mitchell.
  10:43pm
Danne D:

*wonders when the Evan Funk Davies Winterball Fantasy Baseball League will be starting up*
  10:44pm
carmen:

ugh i love this song!! thanks fer playing it!
  10:45pm
john:

Puerto Rico or Arizona Instructional League? Either way, I'm in, but I want Lucas Duda.
  10:45pm
PB from SI:

I just realized that E"F"D has been on at this time for a full cycle of the schedule and still hasn't renamed "Midnight Ticket Oasis."
  10:48pm
Danne D:

Sure he has - it's now know as "The Segment Formerly Known As Midnight Ticket Oasis"

Oh back to the Night People thing for a moment - I know that multiple shows will use the same idea, I just had to stick up for Keili anyhow :) Hope she's back gracing our radios again soon.

On another aside - anybody else check out "Boardwalk Empire"?
  10:50pm
boogie:

rawwwwr
  10:59pm
Danne D:

We all the truth you are a Rush-head Evan:

Danne D:

Exhibit B: http://wfmu.org/playlists/shows/12436
  11:01pm
john:

Funny, I'd never thought of bathroom break songs as ones that would make the listeners run to the nearest facility.
  11:01pm
AZ:

I had exactly the same experience with "Beyond the Lighted Stage." It's hard to imagine a more interesting film about a band whose music I have no interest in whatsoever.
  11:02pm
Danne D:

EFD Playlist scorecard:

Rush 3

Beatles 0

:)
  11:05pm
Danne D:

Have you ever tried to put your camel to bed?

They are kinda ornery
  11:06pm
PB from SI:

I suppose "The Ticket Giveaway Segment Formerly Known As Midnight Ticket Oasis" is practical because it works at any time.

Kind of like how potheads say "It's 4:20 somewhere!" (Except it's not, unless it's 20 after at the time.)

Speaking of pot, I'm pretty sure the WMMS DJ's "bathroom break" was code for something else.
  11:07pm
Danne D:

New Jersey Knuckles would be a good roller derby team name.
  11:09pm
me:

The Vibrators show at the Bell House is also with The Waldos, 45 Adapters, and DJ Mr. Lee.
  11:09pm
Danne D:

For the other confused disorganized folks like me:

  11:10pm
Camel:

Stub out the cigarette before my feet catch fire, plz.
  11:10pm
spUd:

0420 SOMEWHERE,.... COMPLETELY SEQITOR.
ACTUALLY IF YOU CONSIDER THAT WE LIVE IN MULTIPLE SPACE/TIME DIMENSIONS ... IT IS APPROPRIATE TO STATE THAT IT IS 0420 SOMEWHERE.
  11:12pm
sPUDs:

0420 SOMEHERE...IS SEQUITOR INDEED.
CONSIDER OUR SPACE /TIME CONTINUIM...IT IS APPROPRIATE TO STATE THAT IT IS 0420 SOMEHERE.

LIGHT EM UP !
  11:12pm
Danne D:

also if it's 8:50 here then it's 4:20 in Teheran

(really they do some weird 1/2-hour off time zone deal
  11:13pm
Camel:

No bogarding. Puff, pass.
  11:14pm
spuds:

ITS ALWAYS HOOKAH TIME IN TEHRAN. AND IS ALWAYS A GOOD TIME TO PUT YOUR CAMEL, OR PYGMY PONY TO BED.
  11:16pm
spuds:

THE KNUCKLES WORKING THE VIBRATORS RINGING THE BELL WITH WALDOS 45...
AFTER HOURS ONLY
  11:18pm
Danne D:

spuds totally ripping off my fantasy baseball team with that Knuckles reference

:)
  11:19pm
PB from SI:

I feel like having to read Spud's all caps typing is karmic payback for me. E"F"D knows why.
  11:21pm
Joe:

this guy's voice sounds exactly like another emcee and I can't think who it is and it's driving me up the wall.

great song though.
  11:21pm
spuds:

kEIBORED BROKE...
HECK IT JUST OCCURED TO ME THAT I SHOULD TAKE THIS VIBRATOR OUTTA MY MOUF.
  11:22pm
efd:

settle down there, Spuds.

Joe, you're thinking of Junk Science, I bet.
  11:22pm
Spud's Keyboard:

OOOOUUUUCCCCHHHH!!!!!@@@@@
  11:23pm
spuds:

WAIT... I WAS JUST USEING THE ORAL BEE TOOTBRUSH.
BUTT PERHAPS I SHOULD LOCK IT AWAY AFTERWARDS SO NO ONE ABUSES IT.
WHATCHUTHINK ?
  11:24pm
spuds:

FUNK E.D.
GREAT TUNES, THANKS YOU JUST GOT ME PUMPED UP A BIT.
  11:24pm
Joe:

You know, he definitely does sound like Junk Science, and the white guy from Foreign Legion. And -somebody- else.

I'm gonna download the mixtape and figure it out.
  11:27pm
efd:

oh, you were talking about Adam WarRock - yeah, he totally sounds like Prozack Turner, I think. I thought you were talking about this Tone Tank/Scott Thorough cut.
  11:27pm
Joe:

Tone Tank is one of my new favorite rappers. He's such a galoot. Really makes me realize I've been listening to too much music made by people with college degrees.
  11:29pm
Joe:

also, anyone who thinks hip-hop is dead needs to watch this music video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2fhExmGpwg
  11:29pm
blacktooth:

Yes! Rock out to Paul Carey! An excellent human and musician from Chicago. Seek him out and worship his rusty old soul.
  11:30pm
Danne D:

That may be the first time I've ever seen a rapper referred to as a galoot :) It might be the first time anybody has seen that :)
  11:30pm
GOB:

Danne D - It was one hell of a battle we had last week. I had some good luck with the pitchers. It's been a fun league.
  11:30pm
PB from SI:

Am I bananas or did that Tone Tank track sample/co-opt the intro to Black Flag's "Six Pack?"
  11:32pm
Danne D:

Yeah, congrats GOB - you have a great team.
Careful - Evan might leave a horse's head in your bed and those of your pitchers though!

Cool link, btw, Joe.
  11:34pm
Joe:

yeah it's great. Normally I'd be pissed at the John Lennon blasphemy, but it's too awesome to be mad at.
  11:38pm
GOB:

To other baseball (and comedy) fans out there this post at deadspin today is pretty hilarious and disturbing. http://deadspin.com/5644328/is-this-normal?skyline=true&s=i
  11:40pm
efd:

GoB, I'm going to email you after the show about something going on next week.
  11:40pm
efd:

(and no, it's not a trap)
  11:41pm
Spoony:

I would snap the Telos phone bank in half as protest if this was your last show. I don't know what that would accomplish, but I'm running out of things to smash by that phone.
  11:42pm
Danne D:

I'd come heavily armed if I were you, GOB.
  11:42pm
GOB:

sounds good. i'll be sure to run a virus checker before i open that e-mail.
  11:46pm
Danne D:

LOL at that article GOB! Still working through but definitely worth the read. Bonus points for the obscure Giuliani reference.
  11:49pm
john:

It is a great article. And sadly, the answer to the question "Is this normal?" is a resounding but resigned "yeah."
  11:55pm
GOB:

I dunno man, I find it hard to believe there is any normalcy for a guy to be cruising around a clubhouse in the buff of the team that he played for 30 years ago. Yeah he won two world series titles for them but does that mean Varitek is going to be walking around the Sox clubhouse naked 25 years from now?
  11:56pm
john:

Oh come on, give future generations something to look forward to, willya?
  11:59pm
Danne D:

GOB, Evan does that around the station all the time. Just sayin'

Btw, here's a cool article: the 40 best teams ever to not make the MLB playoffs
  12:00am
Danne D:

Good night Funk Friends!

Good night Evan! Have a great vacation :)

Good luck in your battle with EFD, GOB - you're gonna need it after his ruffians get a hold of you.
