Hi EFD and everyone.
@RRN63: The single "Independence Day" was a classic, first album was pretty good. I lost track after that.

  Wed. 1/22/14 9:27pm P-90:

@Rabbit: Do you play?!!
Avatar Wed. 1/22/14 9:27pm Loretta:

@RRN63 ~ going to hit the freezing mark tonight! pets & plants need to come in. I paid my dues living in Westchester Co. for about '?' years.. froze my butt off!

@Holly: Yikes! And would you believe I'd been listening to "Back to Nature" recently, too? (It's on the Death in Vegas edition of the Back to Mine series.)
  Wed. 1/22/14 9:28pm cee dubbles:

oh man I so thought Hush would intro your theme song!
Avatar Wed. 1/22/14 9:28pm Stevel:

So, Billy Joe Royal's "Hush" would explain why Deep Purple never had another song that sounded like that, eh?
  Wed. 1/22/14 9:29pm LovecraftDude888:

you could play Nu Musik Straight Lines...as a bookend bit
Avatar Wed. 1/22/14 9:30pm Holly in NC:

Nippy for a North Carolinian sans central heating = 20F outside, currently low 40sF in house. Layers. 2 comforters. 3 cats keep me warm, + vice versa. Space heaters used solely & intermittently for pipes in kitchen & bathroom.

Actually not horrible except pissed off about olive oil solidified in pantry, I need to bring said oil to bed with cats & me. Strange bedfellows, indeed ;-)
Avatar Wed. 1/22/14 9:31pm Stevel:

Holly: No judgement offered on bedding down with olive oil. Really.

All right. East Link.
Avatar Wed. 1/22/14 9:42pm Mike East:

I love the line "starting with the 70's as we pretty much always do on the Evan Funk Davies show..." just like I love Rex's shpeal (saturday afternoon tradition, 2 hour excursion...to nowhere, etc)
Always puts a smile on my face.
  Wed. 1/22/14 9:42pm P-90:

Why oh why
  Wed. 1/22/14 9:43pm LovecraftDude888:

Man that is harsh. Plus Darryl's got parkinson's or whatever it is. Awful. "Sedaka is there" etc. not no mo'
  Wed. 1/22/14 9:44pm earrie:

It'd be fun if there were an 'everybody switch' switch to the stream. A little splash o'random to the addressing, say. And by fun, I mean, y'know, not fun-fun.
  Wed. 1/22/14 9:44pm P-90:

Sedaka is there?
Avatar Wed. 1/22/14 9:45pm jmd:

Ha! Before looking I thought the lyric was "I'm on angel dust, you're on angel dust.' Yipes!
  Wed. 1/22/14 9:45pm LovecraftDude888:

isn't that the ad lib at end of Love Will K Us Together? She throws that in...."Sedaka is there" he wrote it or whatever
Avatar Wed. 1/22/14 9:45pm Uncle Michael:

"Sedaka is back" not an adlib.
Avatar Wed. 1/22/14 9:46pm Mike East:

I always heard it as Sedaka is back
  Wed. 1/22/14 9:46pm P-90:

Oh, I thought Neil was negotiating a truce or something.
  Wed. 1/22/14 9:46pm LovecraftDude888:

Neil cowrote it with some other guy...right UM that's correct "Sedaka iS BacK" I heard it as a kid as "Sedaka Is There" which makes no sense
  Wed. 1/22/14 9:47pm LovecraftDude888:

which was a plug for his "comeback" LP and all that
  Wed. 1/22/14 9:48pm 12539:

This is okay, but it's no Starbreaker.
Avatar Wed. 1/22/14 9:49pm Holly in NC:

@@RRN63, seriously, it's OK - look at my avatar - I took that pic last year, and it's what I'm wearing right now except I don't yet need the hoodie. PLUS I have an *extra* WFMU hoodie this year for when it gets super frigid next week!

I LOVE eastlink.

Captain & Tennile have a special place in my heart, even though I was forbidden to listen to their big hit. Their version of Muskrat Love sucks, but led me to Willis Alan Ramsey, so all good.
Avatar Wed. 1/22/14 9:49pm Uncle Michael:

I think there's one Sedaka song I like.
  Wed. 1/22/14 9:49pm P-90:

Wed. 1/22/14 9:51pm Eddy in Australia:

@EFD: I forgot to compliment you on your excellent pronunciation of 'Melbourne' the last time you played Eastlink! BTW: I think you might also like another local band, Ausmuteants: dodgy name, great EP, haven't heard their album yet.

I'm wearing my Ramones hoodie that cost too much i got about 3 yrs. ago at Utopia....a scary shop that should be closed but still going somehow. yeah the Dinah iggy and bowie bit is a must see
Avatar Wed. 1/22/14 9:53pm efd:

@Eddy, wait, how did I pronounce it? Now I'm going to be worried I'll pronounce it differently/incorrectly!
  Wed. 1/22/14 9:53pm P-90:

I honestly don't remember the "Neal is ..." at the end of the song, in those days, DJ's were probably talking over the end themselves every time I heard it, barbaric as that sounds
Avatar Wed. 1/22/14 9:54pm Holly in NC:

@Eddy - burning question - East Link or Eastlink ? Even my most trusted Aussie fiends seem to waffle. And Ausmuteants lp is very, very good.

  Wed. 1/22/14 9:55pm LovecraftDude888:

that's possible too. Towards the fade-out or whatever. Sedaka is Back..heehee Toni swears she was at a Wall show 1980 and some teenage kid goes to her "oh no, IT'S YOU what are YOU doing here!??" haha!

I just spotted it on Yahoo...I was like, another illusion shattered.
Wed. 1/22/14 9:56pm Eddy in Australia:

Slight emphasis on the first syllable, don't over-enunciate the second. It's almost closer to 'bn' than 'bourrrne' if you know what I mean.
@Holly: Pretty sure the band name and the freeway are one word but the band splits it on their single cover.
  Wed. 1/22/14 9:57pm P-90:

*heart sinking, hope dying* Well, if Pseu confirms...damn.

So tell me...is there a Mrs. Payday?
Avatar Wed. 1/22/14 10:57pm Holly in NC:

Hi Calllieflower! And Loretta!

I was feeding cats in other room while efd played the Weather Prophets, bummer. 'Almost Prayed' and "Worm in my Brain' are all time favorite songs, so sad I missed AP. I think during the ticket giveaway I will play my own copy of AP very loudly, & dance .

That Black Hollies - I ended up clicky starring six different songs - now I own the album ;-)
Avatar Wed. 1/22/14 10:59pm nanantatee:

Hi Holly, yes Almost Prayed is a transcendent piece of pop magic!
  Wed. 1/22/14 11:04pm EL:

I love this!
Avatar Wed. 1/22/14 11:05pm Danne D:

Avatar Wed. 1/22/14 11:35pm efd:

oh yeah, you could spend a good couple of months nosing around that site easily!
  Wed. 1/22/14 11:41pm P-90:

Oh wow. Thanks for the link, RR
  Wed. 1/22/14 11:41pm EL:

Nice ending.
Avatar Wed. 1/22/14 11:43pm Holly in NC:

I don't understand why Gap Dream still seems to be under most folks' radar. Is it just because many people still dismiss Burger?

Warning - Head Heritage is a time sink, esp. the Book of Seth ;-)
Avatar Wed. 1/22/14 11:46pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Cope's site has meant a lot to me @ certain times - distinct pleasure were I to help direct anyone there.
Avatar Wed. 1/22/14 11:46pm Droll:

[presently penning Roller Skates tune]
Avatar Wed. 1/22/14 11:50pm Holly in NC:

Re Head Heritage - I mean that in a GOOD way!
Avatar Wed. 1/22/14 11:51pm nanantatee:

@RR, yes, it's a font of information and insight. Julian Cope is some sort of all-encompassing being who has managed to not only do and experience everything but also found the time to tell everyone else what he knows and thinks.
Avatar Wed. 1/22/14 11:51pm efd:

@Holly, fwiw Shine Your Light is at around #14 on CMJ's charts. People are starting to catch on!
Avatar Wed. 1/22/14 11:53pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- no doubt Holly.
