It would be impossible, or at least ill-advised, to write a musical history of the '90s without including a chapter on Urge Overkill. Now, nearly 16 years after their last album was released, original members Nash Kato and Eddie "King" Roeser along with Mike "Hadji" Hodgkiss (Gaza Strippers) and Brian Quast (Cherry Valence, Polvo) have released a brand new Urge album, Rock & Roll Submarine. The band recently wrapped up a two-week tour that included a visit to the WFMU studios for a special acousti-lectric set of some songs from the new album as well as a few selections from their Geffen and Touch & Go releases.

The Elvis Costello & The Attractions version was first issued as the B-side of Lowe's "American Squirm" and was credited to Nick Lowe and His Sound. At the time Lowe was Elvis Costello's producer, and he produced this track as well. When the song became a hit, it was quickly appended as the last track to the U.S. edition of Costello's album Armed Forces.

Apropos of nothing here, this real life request made me smile - you KNOW I'm bringing melon to my fave museum tomorrow! :
The Museum needs watermelons to help Ursula, our 21 year-old black bear, take her daily medicine. Can you help? Ursula is having some lameness and ataxia (wobbliness) in her rear legs, and we're treating her for that. Her medication dissolves on the juicy melon, and she takes it well this way.
And the other four bears love watermelons, too!
The Museum needs 2 to 3 watermelons per day from now through the end of August. You're invited to think about us when you're shopping, pick up a watermelon and drop it off at the Museum front desk! Thanks in advance for your help, and feel free to cross-post.
