Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 8:04pm Holly in NC:

@Gary - Loved Xu Guizhu .

@Jill, I hate saying this, but I need a car before I need boots. Was f*cked over by recent car purchase, car died after a mere 6 months when it needed to (& was expected to) last a minimum of 5 years. I'm self-employed & have a 20 mile range of clients...
Anyway, done with work tonight , will be leaving you in a few minutes to walk down the street from this cafe & pick up a previously-ordered most excellent NY-style 16'' pizza to bring home. Have not yet figured out how I'm going to carry large pizza, my large laptop, and large bag of lunch detritus and random shit uphill for a mile, but whatever. And yes, the pizza crust will make me ill, but it will be worth it!!
Avatar    Wed. 4/23/14 8:07pm Gary:

Ack, Holly! Well, enjoy the pizza when you do get back home

What *is* muslin? Is it like linen?
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 8:13pm tim abdellah:

Oh yeah, it's Cui Jian - you dropped that on the blog a while back - that whole album is fantastic.
Avatar    Wed. 4/23/14 8:13pm Gary:

I always thought muslin was that stuff you put in in between the dress and -- shoot, hold on, lemee go ask

Ding Dong very fun! Love the nod to Prince.

  Wed. 4/23/14 9:08pm Jill B.:

Holly of NC...about your car .....many years ago...in the 1980's, I came home from work one night to find that my dear husband had purchased a brand new Ford Ranger pick up truck....the truck from the begining had problems of stalling at the strangest times. Took it back to the dealer numerous times, but they could never figure out what the problem was. One weekend, we had the truck all loaded up for a trip to the mountains to visit Gary's grandparents. The darned truck stalled out about 15 miles from home. Drove the beast home ( the warranty had just run out), parked the damn thing in the driveway, left the keys in the cab (it was safe to do so then in our small town), called the dealer and told them they had better pick up the damn truck and fix it and return it to usebefore we returned home from our trip. If they did not do so, I would arive at their dealership obn Monday and would be parking it right out front with a giant lemon attached to the top. Well, they finally discovered the problem and fixed it. That was in my real fighting days. You might consider doing the same with your lemon???? And, yes, I used to emberass my children all the time!
  Wed. 4/23/14 9:09pm Jill B.:

there's one super duper rockin song on the Rebecca Pan tribute. if i remember right it's the only band where nothing is translated into english. if you know what my cryptic description means you could play that :)

Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 9:43pm carol:

  Wed. 4/23/14 9:48pm Holly in NC:

@Jill - You rock! Unfortunately, my lemon = private purchase 2002 Volvo wagon. Seller was honest, shady mechanic who lied to both of us not.

BUT may have 1st dibs on VW something (bug? rabbit? golf?) that local indie record store owner is giving to local indie rocker for parts, once rocker takes his parts (none of them engine related), I may get the the car for price of a coil something. This went down as I was walking home... Durham is still pretty cool.
