Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 12:10am Minnesota Jeff:

Chat chat chat chat, chat!
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 12:11am fleep:

Blame it on the Bossa Nova
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 12:24am KP:

Fleep, that's a double-edge sword you're swinging there.
  Sun. 4/7/13 12:30am 12539:

Hey, this guy's covering Bryce.
  Sun. 4/7/13 12:30am coelacanth:

I'm not chatty. But,hi.
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 12:31am Joe McG:

@12539: :)!
  Sun. 4/7/13 12:32am Fernando M Pacheco:

This track by Maria Bethania is amazing.
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 12:33am Droll:

12539, This guy doesn't compare to Bryce. Let's see him play drums to Carey's Problem.
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 12:34am Joe McG:

Or "We're an American Band."
  Sun. 4/7/13 12:42am 12539:

Starcastle?
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 12:42am Droll:

I love Quarterflash!
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 12:42am Minnesota Jeff:

How about just some 'Flash'?
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 12:43am Joe McG:

@MJ: Do you mean that Jeff Beck album or the Queen soundtrack?
  Sun. 4/7/13 12:43am Kathy:

MacArthur Park by Sammy Davis Jr. will bring a tear to the eye.
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 12:44am Joe McG:

@Droll: Where is Rindy Ross now?
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 12:44am Droll:

MJ, FCC safe-haven applies, but decency dictates something between quarter- and full-flash. Half-flash? Jumping Jack?
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 12:45am Joe McG:

I pretty much like all the artists I mentioned except Morbid Angel, BTW.
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 12:45am Minnesota Jeff:

Joe, I mean the Peter Banks (yes guitarist) band 'Flash'.
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 12:46am Joe McG:

ACK!!! NO PETER BANKS!!!!
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 12:46am fleep:

Smoke is smokin!
  Sun. 4/7/13 12:47am coelacanth:

Besides all those people you just named, and this, what the hell else is there?
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 12:47am Minnesota Jeff:

Joe, what? You scared?
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 12:48am Joe McG:

@Jeff: TERRIFIED!
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 12:49am Droll:

Grandmaster Flash?
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 12:50am Joe McG:

How about Flash in the Pan?
  Sun. 4/7/13 12:51am coelacanth:

How bout Flash Bazbo?
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 12:51am Julie:

www.quarterflash.net
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 12:52am Joe McG:

@coel: Flash Bazbo rules.
  Sun. 4/7/13 12:53am coelacanth:

!!
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 12:55am Droll:

JMcG, I think Quarterflash was a flash in the pan... Still, I really do love their sound. They were one of the last guitar powered bands before synthesizers and drum machines became the favored style. They were like XTC on quaaludes with saxophone solos.
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 12:56am Joe McG:

@Julie: What does the Web site say about Rindy? Is she still making music? (True Story: I almost bought their record today for 50 cents and then didn't. Bad Joe.)
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 12:58am Minnesota Jeff:

Joe, you got any Loudness laying around?
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 12:58am Julie:

@Joe I think Marv & Rindy never stopped, they just had different projects. They put out a "quarterflash" album 5 years ago but it sounds nothing like the 80s version. I have the three 80s albums, and saw them open for someone back then... I can't even remember who.
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 12:59am Joe McG:

@MJ: Ha ha ha!
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 1:00am Joe McG:

@Julie: They made THREE albums?
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 1:03am Joe McG:

The one I almost bought was called "No Quarter," I think. Or am I making that up?
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 1:03am Minnesota Jeff:

:(
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 1:03am Joe McG:

I'm going to write another comment now.
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 1:04am Joe McG:

Here's another one.
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 1:04am Joe McG:

I have to admit, Jeff, I don't know anything about Loudness. Were you not kidding?
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 1:06am Julie:

Oh, it was four. but no, they didn't put out an album of Zeppelin covers called No Quarter, sorry Joe.
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 1:07am Tome:

hiYa Joe , Hi Kiddles, great tunes and Spring here now yeaaahhh !
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 1:08am KP:

Now Flash was group Peter Banks started after leaving Yes. They sounded exactly like Yes minus keys. I saw them for reason.
  Sun. 4/7/13 1:08am johnk77:

Quarterflash was first non-superstar act signed to Geffen
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 1:09am Minnesota Jeff:

I would love to hear some Loudness! But I guess I wasn't actually expecting you to play any. Loudness is the only Japanese band to play Madison Square Garden.
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 1:10am Droll:

MJ, Didn't E.Z.O. get to play there opening for KISS?
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 1:11am Pete from Boston (and NJ):

Does anybody remember when Kenny G did about a half hour of a loop of promotional music for the movie "Giant" starring Liz Taylor and Rock Hudson? This Roy Porter drumming this prolonged reminds me very much of that.
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 1:12am Joe McG:

Hey, Tome! @MJ: I think Loudness are still together actually. There was an article about them in Chopsticks. At least I think it was them!
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 1:13am Minnesota Jeff:

Droll, all I know is that Loudness was the first. They were opening for Mötley Crüe.
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 1:14am Joe McG:

Hey, Pete--I don't remember that one, but I'm sure Kenny did it and that it was amazing.
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 1:17am fleep:

I remember traffic reports. One after another.
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 1:17am Joe McG:

The slow episode of "Friends."
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 1:18am KP:

Joe I have an official complaint. Just moved to city but still can't get Fmu over air. Can you take care of this? Thanks.
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 1:19am Joe McG:

@KP: Sure, no problem! Give me a couple of minutes and I'll fix that up.
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 1:20am Pete from Boston (and NJ):

Well, it is now parked in my favorite tracks list, if anyone is interested in listening after this show.
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 1:22am KP:

Thanks Joe!
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 1:22am Minnesota Jeff:

Hey, so this "new" wire album is actually songs from the 80's that were never used or never recorded and just recorded now? Or something?
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 1:23am Joe McG:

Izzat so? Leftover kidney bingos, eh?
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 1:24am Minnesota Jeff:

It was supposed to be the followup to 154, but never came out. Or something.
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 1:38am Minnesota Jeff:

Can't wait to hear all these Loudness 45s!
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 1:39am Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Poor Blumin will be home in 3 hours
  Sun. 4/7/13 1:39am 12539:

Daniel, I saw Wire at the Cat Club back then, but I don't know if it was the Ideal Copy or the Bell Is A Cup Tour.
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 1:42am fleep:

UH
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 1:43am Joe McG:

Ike Turner's Guide to Not Learning the Lyrics.
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 1:47am KP:

I saw maybe XTC's first US show. It was at CBGBs. Packed, celebs. They never really got going until they did a cover of Dot Dash. It was amazing.
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 2:15am Brian in UK:

Mornin' Joe. Nice things.
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 2:15am Julie:

Surface Noise, the home game
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 2:17am Joe McG:

Hey, Brian! Many nice things. Is it a nice day in the UK today?
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 2:17am Joe McG:

That's a 2-point question.
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 2:19am Brian in UK:

Beautiful clear blue skies. Sunshine abounds.
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 2:20am Joe McG:

Ah, down by Avalon, down by Avalon.
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 2:20am Brian in UK:

Did notr realise until I listened to FMU how popular XTC were in the US. At least with a certain audience.
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 2:22am Brian in UK:

Avalon, that's Glastonbury in 10 weeks.
Bluddy Stones in the Park. Did you see the price of tickets? I saw them for free in '69. Well, when I say saw them there was estimated half a million there.
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 2:23am Joe McG:

No, what are they asking?
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 2:26am Brian in UK:

£95 just to get and sniff the air up to £1000 to kiss Mick's arse.
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 2:28am Brian in UK:

I am amazed how these tickets sold out in ten minutes.
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 2:28am Joe McG:

Ha ha! I'm sure it's worth it.
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 2:40am tomB:

No Commotion locomotion from Lloyd Cole?
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 2:41am Joe McG:

I think they may have reunited a few years ago and played some shows, but maybe I'm making that up. They didn't do it over here, I know that for sure!
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 2:55am Joe McG:

Thanks for listening, everyone! Remember to tune in next week for Jeff who will be filling in for me! Have a great couple of weeks!
  Sun. 4/7/13 2:55am 12539:

Thanks, Joe.
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 2:58am Brian in UK:

Adios amigos
Avatar Sun. 4/7/13 2:59am fleep:

Thanks for the fine freeform, Joe.
