...in response to that Droll I'd say something rude about Liz Taylor - but that's not necessary is it...I think that's the dif. between me & some other residences of smalltown New Hampshire here: I'm playing @ 45 & they're 33&1/3rd or something...

Hey, all. Thanks for the welcome back, fleep. Droll, that speed change caught me unawares. I'm blaming Daniel for not normalizing the turntables before he left.

Aww man! There's a re-issue of Shuggie's Insp Info? Nice to have extra tracks, but having to purchase album 2nd time? Not fun.
Avatar Sun. 4/21/13 1:02am Minnesota Jeff:

Joe, its by Police drummer Stewart Copeland. Its like a wild and crazy jumble and sound collage, and a song with Stan Ridgeway from Wall of Voodoo on vocals.
Avatar    Sun. 4/21/13 1:04am Joe McG:

@KP: Thanks, man! @Lonely Planet Boy: Well, they made it a little easier by adding a whole other unreleased album plus 4 bonus tracks to the original album. @Jeff: My hero, Stan Ridgeway! I have to get that one.
Avatar Sun. 4/21/13 1:05am Minnesota Jeff:

You should really watch the movie as well, its great.

Jeff, Lord Love A Duck? It's awesome.
Sun. 4/21/13 1:08am Lonely Planet Boy:

Thx for the (insp) info on the Shuggie CD, Joe. That does make it easier.
Avatar Sun. 4/21/13 1:12am Holly in NC:

Hi Joe, Julie, KP, MJ, fleep, whoever I missed!
@Joe - Stan R's The Big Heat, yes.
And I guess I too have to buy that Shuggie *again* dang.
Lewis Connection - isn't Prince supposedly involved?
Know Rumblefish the book (yay S.E, Hinton) never saw movie
Avatar    Sun. 4/21/13 1:14am Joe McG:

Hey, Holly! Yes, I'm afraid so. Prince IS on the Lewis Connection LP, actually! Not on the track I played, but he's there. How's 'Rumblefish" the book? I'm already excited to see the flick and hear the sdrk.
Avatar Sun. 4/21/13 1:16am Matt from Springfield:

Hi Joe! Hi everyone!
Have a good RSD slash 4/20 today? :D
Avatar    Sun. 4/21/13 1:17am Joe McG:

Hey, Matt, how goes it? I sat out this year, but I'm eager to hear how other people made out. I spent money at two indie record stores in Florida last weekend, so I did my bit!
Avatar Sun. 4/21/13 1:18am Matt from Springfield:

All praises to the Fairfax Record & Tape Exchange (RTX) and the Falls Church CD Cellar! The RTX has really improved their 45s shelf from the last time I was there!
Thanks for doing your part, Joe!
Avatar    Sun. 4/21/13 1:20am Joe McG:

Great, Matt! I'll look forward to getting all those cool 45s you're going to send me! (j/k)
  Sun. 4/21/13 1:21am KP:

Hi, Holly. Celebrated move into city by hitting two RSD places manned by Fmu personnel, Brian turner at Kim's and Generation records w Tom S. the band the Livids were playing at latter. Pretty intense
Avatar Sun. 4/21/13 1:21am Matt from Springfield:

In fact, they had a GREAT condition original 45 of Slade's "Gudbuy T'Jane"!! That's the one I put on as soon as I got home--and then naturally the B-side, "I Won't Let It 'Appen Again"!

I'm a quasi-audiophile and fan of good production, but compared with the iTunes track, there are some things (like "Gudbuy T'Jane") that just need to be vinyl. 45. Mono. And BLARING! :D
  Sun. 4/21/13 1:22am KP:

Manned I mean dj'd
Avatar    Sun. 4/21/13 1:23am Joe McG:

@KP: Excellent! I bet BT's set was great! Tom's, too!
Avatar Sun. 4/21/13 1:23am Matt from Springfield:

@Joe: Cause you're clearly in need of some--you can almost *see* the foot of your bed now! ;)

@KP: Awesome! It's a FMU RSD for you!
  Sun. 4/21/13 1:23am KP:

See ya all. Got to go.
Sun. 4/21/13 1:24am Lonely Planet Boy:

I ran a indie music store up until 2001. Miss it everyday.
Avatar Sun. 4/21/13 1:24am Matt from Springfield:

Holadios, KP!
Avatar Sun. 4/21/13 1:25am Holly in NC:

Rumblefish is a darker, bleaker riff on the Outsiders theme. Almost nihilistic. Anti - protagonist (s). Perfect for disaffected hs kids :-)

Hi Matt!

Avatar Sun. 4/21/13 1:27am Matt from Springfield:

The title track of the Dangerous Girls! Heard the DGs before on FMU, I first heard this one on BT's show recently.
Avatar    Sun. 4/21/13 1:28am Brian in UK:

We used to have a great shop. The guy ran the records in the back and his dad had the greengrocers at the front. Never the same when he opened a second shop.
Avatar Sun. 4/21/13 1:29am fleep:

@Holly Howdy, the movie has Matt Dillon, Nick Cage, Diane Lane, Dennis Hopper, I think Tom Waits, too.

Avatar Sun. 4/21/13 1:36am Matt from Springfield:

YES! "Dream Police", this is a PidgeRock™ track!
Avatar    Sun. 4/21/13 1:36am Brian in UK:

@Joe I remember racing back from visiting my friend in Manchester 200 miles on my motorbike to collect Ackles' American Gothic from the shop when it came out 'cause it had to be ordered in. '72?

Avatar Sun. 4/21/13 1:40am Matt from Springfield:

For RSD "specials", I got 2 new re-releases of classic albums on 180g "heavyweight" vinyl: The Electric Prunes and Van Dyke Parks' first solo album. Among the cooler CDs I picked up were Brian Eno's "Music For Films" (speaking of film soundtracks...), 2 Mazzy Star albums, and the OUT OF PRINT Yoko POB album, and The Kinks' Percy!
Sun. 4/21/13 1:40am Lonely Planet Boy:

Matt - still in VA. I'm a librarian now. Seems I have a knack of moving from one dying profession to another :)

I hope no one runs into any dream police tonight. Or police of any sort.
Avatar Sun. 4/21/13 1:42am Matt from Springfield:

Well speak of The Kinks...! :)
Hi there Julie! Any good hauls from RSD for you?
"Dream Police" is high energy with a good tempo, woulda made an AMAZING theme song over an action-packed montage!

Avatar Sun. 4/21/13 1:48am Matt from Springfield:

@Matt I used to own it half a lifetime ago. Would be interested to know your thoughts when you have had a listen.
Avatar Sun. 4/21/13 1:50am Matt from Springfield:

@Julie: Aw, better luck next time. But it's a good opportunity to even find some used vinyl. (Though the CDs and 45s were the best part today, used vinyl they had was mostly uninspiring).

@Brian: Sure, will do!
Avatar Sun. 4/21/13 1:50am Holly in NC:
