You see a blanket on the ground. It's your favorite color, smooth and soft. You can sit on it, or lie on it. It's a flying blanket, and you are the pilot. You are in control. You can fly anywhere you wish, just by thinking about it. You are the pilot.

  Mon. 11/7/11 9:12pm PB:

I attended a performance of the 9th at Lincoln Center about a year ago. It was incredible (although I couldn't stop thinking about Malcolm McDowell for the entire performance).
Mon. 11/7/11 9:19pm Colin from Vancouver British Columbia Canada:

Well this is about as good as it got for human culture.
  Mon. 11/7/11 9:20pm R I S K Y:

  Mon. 11/7/11 9:21pm Marmalade Kitty:

The music is good the culture snobby
  Mon. 11/7/11 9:23pm PB:

I am far from an expert on classical music but it is amazing how much different the interpretations of different conductors and orchestras are.
Mon. 11/7/11 9:24pm Richard from Venezuela:

Gustavo Dudamel the best.
  Mon. 11/7/11 9:25pm cpr:

  Mon. 11/7/11 9:29pm PB:

I think I heard a very brief snippet of John Lennon from "It's All Too Much".
  Mon. 11/7/11 9:29pm Ike:

Ah, now that's MUCH better than Beethoven!
  Mon. 11/7/11 9:40pm PB:

@Dan, I also don't know much about minimalist/avant garde/ambient music and that's why I enjoy your show so much (because you play some very interesting music and I always learn a lot from your shows).
  Mon. 11/7/11 9:41pm Marmalade Kitty:

third eye!
  Mon. 11/7/11 9:44pm Dan B:

God also told me that I had to return and I said "No"
  Mon. 11/7/11 9:48pm Gansevoort Melville:

"high as an astronaut's asshole", indeed
  Mon. 11/7/11 9:53pm Marmalade Kitty:

Great set Dan!
  Mon. 11/7/11 10:03pm Miss M:

Good show, as always, Mr. Bodah. Erudite, insightful, inspiring... really liked that near death experience stuff.
  Mon. 11/7/11 10:05pm Dan B:

Thanks all checking in -- so nice to hear from you all! Sorry I'm a bit too busy tossing this whole thing together on the fly and can't check in as often as I like to.
  Mon. 11/7/11 10:09pm Marmalade Kitty:

  Mon. 11/7/11 10:18pm Marmalade Kitty:

the synth music appears to be confusing if not mocking the English guy
  Mon. 11/7/11 10:20pm Marmalade Kitty:

The American is working the synth..
Mon. 11/7/11 10:22pm The Count of Al Dente:

  Mon. 11/7/11 10:23pm Marmalade Kitty:

the synth is now also mocking the American guy
  Mon. 11/7/11 10:24pm Dan B:

  Mon. 11/7/11 10:34pm cosmic matrix:

hello from the magical green mountains
  Mon. 11/7/11 10:37pm damien:

@DJ: DJ, I think you should have a "coolest Listener Commenter" election, and I would like to cast my vote for Marmalade Kitty, with Richard From Venezuela as Vice-Pres. (Don't know Marmalade from Eve; and this endorsement is not borne from graft or fraud!) That is all I have to say. I am not seeking office at this time.
  Mon. 11/7/11 10:40pm Marmalade Kitty:

damien, lol!
  Mon. 11/7/11 10:40pm Julie:

I vote for Kitty!
  Mon. 11/7/11 10:40pm Dan B:

You guys are all so cool, it'd be too hard to judge a competition. Although I always appreciate MK's witticisms and Richard's helpful and informative commentary
  Mon. 11/7/11 10:40pm Dan B:

BTW, thanks for the donation Damien!
  Mon. 11/7/11 10:41pm Dan B:

Now only $99 and change from my goal, even though the silent fundraiser is over. Pretty cool D. Thanks!
  Mon. 11/7/11 10:46pm Julie:

we missed you last week Dan!
  Mon. 11/7/11 10:46pm dave:

hooray, alan watts!
  Mon. 11/7/11 10:48pm 3D-Nyc:

in the 80's WFMU had a whole hour slotted for A. Watts ...
  Mon. 11/7/11 10:48pm damien:

Oh, now I feel bad that I couldn't push it to 100% So sorry. See, I just gave $999 to Herman Cain, so I am feeling a bit light this week. (lo-f-ing-l!)
  Mon. 11/7/11 10:49pm McJizz:

It's kind of childish at age 33, but my favourite comfort is being high and listening to this show with a bowl of ramen.
  Mon. 11/7/11 10:50pm Marmalade Kitty:

"I've always been mad, I know I've been mad, like the
most of us...very hard to explain why you're mad, even
if you're not mad..."
  Mon. 11/7/11 10:51pm Dan B:

@Julie, thanks! Nice to be back!!! @3D-Nyc - my first job at WFMU was running the Watts lecture tapes in the final years...the early 2000-2002 period
  Mon. 11/7/11 10:51pm Julie:

I hope you brought Ramen for everyone
  Mon. 11/7/11 10:53pm Psst:

If you have a doctor's note, that's Medical THC Ramen.
  Mon. 11/7/11 10:53pm dave:

alan watts, joe frank, and glen jones were my earliest exposures to fmu. needless to say it colored my understanding of the station somewhat.
  Mon. 11/7/11 10:55pm Marmalade Kitty:

..Speak to me - Nick mason
  Mon. 11/7/11 10:57pm Dan B:

Have you guys noticed that I've been culling listener comments for a little "recent Airborne Event successes" section on the main show playlist index page? Just sayin'.
  Mon. 11/7/11 10:58pm Dan B:

@dave, my earlies exposure also included Joe Frank, a tape I made of it wore down from the repeated plays -- and I was never able to find that show in his archives
  Mon. 11/7/11 11:03pm damien:

It's good to know that our non-sequiturean babble is not all in vain
  Mon. 11/7/11 11:05pm dave:

woo-woo!! immortality is mine!

bit more "all out of love" than i expected my crowning achievement would involve, but there you are.
  Mon. 11/7/11 11:08pm 3D-Nyc:

Fasinating- I recorded a number of early "in the dark" -Joe Frank
monologues (true monologues), on "the new" TDK 90 minute tapes.(gasp!)- Most worn out, loaned out, or lost during moving a few times. I see alot are on the web archives, and was not able to find a few (the most compelling ones of course :-)
  Mon. 11/7/11 11:10pm dave:

aaaaand, it's a measure of the stygian depth of my vanity that i went back to find that the air supply song in question was not "all out of love" but, in fact, "the one that you love".

so that's those two songs stuck in my head, then.
  Mon. 11/7/11 11:21pm lulu:

I love listening to this show while I put my laundry away
  Mon. 11/7/11 11:22pm Marmalade Kitty:

I love infectious laughing
  Mon. 11/7/11 11:23pm damien:

"During this time W- also worked for famous psychedelic drug advocate Timothy Leary as keeper of the stone gatehouse on Leary's Millbrook estate. Leary hired him to the post because W- did not use LSD himself." Leary was no dummy.
  Mon. 11/7/11 11:25pm 3D-Nyc:

Infectious it is!
  Mon. 11/7/11 11:28pm Marmalade Kitty:

briiing! hahaaha..! briiing! hahaaha..!
Mon. 11/7/11 11:30pm issac from Tijuana:

that uncontrollable laughter just made my day
  Mon. 11/7/11 11:32pm Marmalade Kitty:

I had to dry my eyes..!
  Mon. 11/7/11 11:37pm Marmalade Kitty:

death by laughter :)
  Mon. 11/7/11 11:39pm 3D-Nyc:

Me-thinks some listeners may have Laughing Dreams tonight (!)
  Mon. 11/7/11 11:52pm Marmalade Kitty:

Mon. 11/7/11 11:55pm issac from Tijuana:

:D my neurons are buzzing with joy
  Mon. 11/7/11 11:59pm Marmalade Kitty:

what do the Elizabeth Clare Prophet speak of?
  Tue. 11/8/11 12:01am Marmalade Kitty:

Awesome Dan!!!
