Not so unusual. In the old days early record companies were hardware stores and auto dealerships and such. Stores that had room to begin selling records jumped into the record-making business so that would have something to cash in on.

Doug are you accompanying yourself on the banjo, here?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:33am
Pedro in Arlington:

Hi Wendy. Yes, generally Sara sang lead. She had a pretty rough life with AP, having to raise the kids and work the farm as AP generally went out on the road hunting down songs. I guess that explains the divorce even though they kept the act together along with Maybelle for several years. Even moved to Texas/Mexico as a group to be on border-blaster radio.

Hello Doug and drummers
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:36am
Wendy del Formaggio:

Hello Pedro: That's great background. Thank you. I think we can "read" Sara's delivery on "Single Girl" a bunch of ways, and still be mindful of the constrictions on female thoughts and behaviors. She may have been conveying something even she wasn't free to articulate or even imagine. And that's why I love that song, but it's not the only reason.
