Hey, Larry, and all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm Funky16Corners:

Hey WR! Sem!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:08pm Funky16Corners:

@Doug - All Barretto is reliably good Barretto!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:09pm Matt from New Orleans:

This is a solid arrangement marred by Nancy Sinatra.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:11pm Funky16Corners:

I like Nancy's voice!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:11pm Granny Spicy Tuna (they/them):

hello, Larry and folx! Great to splash down into this excitement!
Avatar 3:12pm Mod Mokka Matti:

This is a most excellent way to kick off the new year, as well as the new time slot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:12pm dutchtheo:

Happy new year, happy with new time, 9 pm here
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:12pm Funky16Corners:

Granny! Theo!
Avatar 3:12pm Erica:

There is an internet radio station by Soma FM that also plays this kinda music called Secret Agent. It's worth checking out if you're curious.
Avatar 3:13pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Hello Larry & all Testifiers. Presume this is the parallel Giantland?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:13pm Funky16Corners:

@Theo - As I said last week, It's always nighttime somewhere!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:13pm Funky16Corners:

@Erica - I'll look for it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:13pm Funky16Corners:

Hey Kevin! Of what Giantland do you speak?
Avatar 3:14pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Fabio's.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm Funky16Corners:

I don't know what that is.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:16pm WR:

Note to self, figure out who that bone player was on the Basie tune.
Avatar 3:16pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Your 91.1 co-broadcaster's opening song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:17pm Funky16Corners:

Oh, I get it now. A little slow on the uptake this afternoon. Still adjusting.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:18pm Funky16Corners:

@WR - Norman Keenan
Avatar 3:18pm Hubig Pie:

The Prisoner had a real groovy theme song
Avatar 3:19pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Regardless, great to hear you while the sun shines.
Avatar 3:19pm Erica:

It feels weird to me too listening after an afternoon shower. Plus I'm not used to seeing different people on here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:19pm Funky16Corners:

Thanks! Great to be heard!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:19pm Matt from New Orleans:

@ Larry Norman Keenan was on bass. That album had four trombonists. www.discogs.com...
Avatar 3:19pm Sem:

Could not miss an episode of the Avengers growing up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm Funky16Corners:

@HubigPie - Stay Tuned!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:21pm Ken From Hyde Park:

"Mr. Giant Man" from James Last if Fabio's lead off and currently the #1 favorited song on the WFMU charts - www.wfmu.org...
Avatar 3:22pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Yup Sem. Emma was my first TV crush.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm Granny Spicy Tuna (they/them):

and Rev. Turnip Druid was the first!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm WR:

@MattfNO thanks for the link for the Basie link.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26pm Funky16Corners:

I once saw Diana Rigg at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Well into her 60s and still as lovely as ever!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26pm Matt from New Orleans:

@WR No worries
Avatar 3:29pm Mod Mokka Matti:

I missed out on the original airings of The Avengers by a few years, but was tuned in without fail when A&E re-aired it just after I graduated HS and whilst I was in junior college, now nearly a full 30 years ago this coming fall (yikes). And FWIW, who wouldn't fall hard for Mrs. Peel?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:31pm Funky16Corners:

If you ever get the chance check out the 1968 film of a Midsummer's Night Dream, featuring both Diana Rigg and a young Helen Mirren
Avatar 3:32pm Sem:

There was a certain frisson of dominatrix w/ Emma...always, "Mrs. Peel", for instance.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm Funky16Corners:

Yes, indeed, The leather catsuits didn't hurt in that regard, either.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35pm doctorjazz:

Welcome to Thursday! (Works better for me in some ways, but listen at work, likely to comment much less (which may be preferable to some...).
Happy New Near!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm Funky16Corners:

Hey Doc! Glad to see you here!
Avatar 3:38pm Erica:

Hey Doc!
Avatar 3:42pm Mod Mokka Matti:

The elusive Perry and the Harmonics... I reckon I'll never get my hands on that disc.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44pm Funky16Corners:

You might be able to grab the LP at a more reasonable price
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:48pm ParUbi:

Hey everyone. Digging the new time slot.
Avatar 3:49pm Erica:

Hi ParUbi! Glad you could tune in.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:49pm Funky16Corners:

Hey ParUbi!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50pm ParUbi:

I decoded the secret message from the numbers station!
Avatar 3:51pm Mod Mokka Matti:

@Funky16: BTW, any chance of Sir Julian Gould making an appearance with his take on "You Only Live Twice"? That one I do have - at least, as part of his "Love is Blue" LP.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:51pm Funky16Corners:

@MMM - Not familiar with that one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm Funky16Corners:

@ParUbi - I used to have a bunch of recordings of numbers stations. Super creepy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm Funky16Corners:

@MMM - Was he billed as 'Sir Julian'? I have a 45 of his somewhere, but not that one
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm Doug Schulkind:

@ParUbi
I bought that 4-CD set The Conet Project (en.wikipedia.org...) hot off the shelves! Oh how I wish all that crap was a hoax. It would be so much more interesting.
Avatar 3:56pm Mod Mokka Matti:

@Funky16: Yes, that was what he most often went by - just "Sir Julian". First learned of him years ago from the "Organs in Orbit" comp. CD that was part of the Ultra-Lounge series.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:57pm Funky16Corners:

@MMM - The 45 I have is 'Dansero'
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01pm ParUbi:

I've listened to the CONET project. Creepy sounding for sure. First heard part of it in that Wilco song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01pm doctorjazz:

Time for the Cone Of Silence!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:03pm Funky16Corners:

Missed it by THAT MUCH!
Avatar 4:04pm Erica:

Roar!
  4:08pm johnzo:

enjoying all this spy music larry! was driving around with my homeless chaldean friend... he is mentally divergent and thinks he’s a secret agent of the US Govt/God so it was pretty appropriate
Avatar 4:08pm Erica:

WILMAAAA!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:08pm Funky16Corners:

Hey johnzo!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:09pm dutchtheo:

Flintstones Dragnet theme?
Avatar 4:11pm Erica:

"Your code name is Rock Slag."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:11pm dutchtheo:

Jan Akkerman in the Hunters
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:11pm Funky16Corners:

Secret Agent 10,000BC
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:13pm Funky16Corners:

@dutch theo - Yes indeed!
Avatar 4:20pm Erica:

I haven't seen The Man Called Flintstone movie in full either. I have seen what is called a YouTube Poop of the movie, which is basically a remixed, edited version that's been done for comedy. It's called the Flint Called Manstone and it's a pretty well re-edited version of the movie and it's hilarious.
Avatar 4:21pm Erica:

Pretty explicit though but worth checking out if you want a laugh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:24pm Funky16Corners:

I'll look for that
Avatar 4:26pm Erica:

It's made by English guys who are known as WTLNetwork. But this video has been re-uploaded by another person for copyright reasons.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:29pm Matt from New Orleans:

There was a really fun Secret Squirrel back up comic in the surprisingly good Scooby Apocalypse comic that ran from 2016-2019. It was part of DC’s attempt to modernize and adultify Hanna Barbara’s cartoons for Generation X. The best of those was The Flintstones and Exit Stage Left: The Snagglepuss Chronicles both written by Mark Russell.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:30pm Funky16Corners:

@Matt - I remember those vaguely, especially the Snagglepuss one
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:34pm Matt from New Orleans:

The Snagglepuss one was a brilliant satire of the McCarthy Era with Snagglepuss as a gay left wing playwright and very loosely based on Tennessee Williams.
Avatar 4:35pm Mod Mokka Matti:

I have been meaning to pick up that "Man from O.R.G.A.N." album, even if Mr. Hyman is playing a Lowrey, not a Hammond.
  4:36pm CalZone!:

Spy HiFi!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:36pm Funky16Corners:

Cal!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:36pm Funky16Corners:

@MMM - It's worth it. Lots of cool tracks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37pm Funky16Corners:

@Matt - That's the one I saw
Avatar 4:38pm Sem:

The art of Mr. Mancini on display. Love those charts.
Avatar 4:40pm Erica:

Speaking of Snagglepuss and the Pink Panther, has anyone gotten the two confused before?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:42pm Funky16Corners:

As the Pink Panther is generally silent, no, but the build is similar.
Avatar 4:42pm Erica:

I meant by design because they're both pink.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:45pm Funky16Corners:

You're right! I was thinking brown but that's Pete Puma, who sounded like crazy Guggenheim from the Jackie Gleason Show, but that's a lion for another day
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:47pm Matt from New Orleans:

Thanks Larry. It’s been a fun show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:47pm Funky16Corners:

Thanks Matt!
Avatar 4:48pm Erica:

I just asked because I thought Pink Panther was Snagglepuss because I hadn't heard of the Pink Panther yet. I was in my tweens.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:50pm Funky16Corners:

My youngest son's first words from lifted from a Pink Panther cartoon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:51pm ParUbi:

Yes, the Prisoner!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:51pm doctorjazz:

Thanks, Larry! Going to skulk off into the sunset with that beautiful spy on my arm (don't tell the missus...)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:51pm Funky16Corners:

Thanks Doc!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:52pm Matt from New Orleans:

I imagine Diabolik isn’t going to make the cut due to the fact that the soundtrack has never been released commercially due to the masters having been destroyed in a fire.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:53pm Matt from New Orleans:

I love Get Carter and Roy Budd’s score is fantastic.
  4:53pm CalZone!:

Get Carter!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:53pm dutchtheo:

So many great tunes. I can be jealous on the midsixties American tv time excitement. Wrong continent, wrong time, sadly. Thanks, Larry
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:53pm Funky16Corners:

@Matt - It is not, but I don't have it in any form
  4:53pm melinda:

This has been fun.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:53pm Funky16Corners:

Thanks Theo!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:54pm Matt from New Orleans:

These last two have been British Theo.
Avatar 4:56pm Mod Mokka Matti:

These two hours have flown by way too fast. It is kind of strange to look out and still see daylight, even in January, but I sure hope to keep tuning in, or catch up via the archive when I can't. Thanks, Larry!
Avatar 4:56pm Sem:

Happy to hear you'll be here Thursday afternoons. See you again next time, LG and all.
  4:57pm CalZone!:

Will definitely need to listen to the whole archive! A gem, LG!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:58pm dutchtheo:

MfNO and Diana Rigg too!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:00pm Funky16Corners:

Thanks MMM! Sem! Cal! Theo!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:00pm WR:

Fun show Larry. Luckily work was slow so I could listen to most of it. Later all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:00pm Funky16Corners:

Thanks WR!
Avatar 5:01pm Erica:

This had been an interesting show this week. It will take some time to get used to this new time slot. Will try to make it next week too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:01pm Funky16Corners:

Thanks Erica! Glad you could make the scene!
