Ciao Fabio and friends

Buh-rrr! Party time for Ice Cube Man!
Avatar 3:11pm Bas NL:

I miss Holger Czukay. He was an amazing man.
Avatar 3:12pm βrian:

This party is more fun when one is fashionably late.
  3:18pm Brendan:

The Vietnamese influences on this album are lovely.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:18pm Michael 98145:

space raga
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm Michael 98145:

{ discogs: "Inspired by his studies with Karlheinz Stockhausen, fascination with radios, electronics and multi-tracking studio and collage techniques, Holger Czukay together with one Rolf Dammers (a technician/engineer) decided to try and create their own such works." }
Avatar 3:21pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

is this where is it the hippie soirée?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm Mr. Pumpy:

Interesting...I thought of Stockhausen right away. Cool stuff. I'm off from work today (teacher.) so I get to catch the show from the beginning. Fabio...do you miss Clay coming in and torturing you before your shoe is over?
Avatar 3:23pm slugluv1313:

Good Afternoon, Fabio and everyone!

hi fabio. i never knew charles schultz was so out there.
Avatar 3:29pm βrian:

Now that it's getting warmer, maybe we'll start hearing owls again. It's been too quiet lately.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29pm Mr. Pumpy:

Fabio, if you haven't, check out: Henk Badings / Dick Raaijmakers ‎– Electronic Music. I just found it at a Salvation Army for a dollar. You may dig. Here's a track... www.youtube.com...

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm Fabio:

@Mr. Pumpy: Yeah, love those guys! here's an old show with a Raaijmakers track for ya: wfmu.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:45pm Mr. Pumpy:

@Fabio...cool, I'll check it out. I figured you were down with those guys. And...missing the torture or no? ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:46pm Granny Spicy Tuna:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:47pm dale:

good score pumpy. all i ever find is pat cooper in a tub of spaghetti and bad christian families singing for jesus lately.
  3:47pm nic:

wow love this !!!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:48pm Granny Spicy Tuna:

Wish I could listen -have to go back inside the courtroom
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01pm listener james from westwood:

How weird that I was thinking of this track the other day. Of all the things to come to mind!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01pm dale:

Avatar 4:03pm Bas NL:

Give 'em hell Chresti!
Avatar 4:04pm Bas NL:

(Not bad!)
Avatar 4:04pm Fredericks:

Hey, Mr.Pumpy what do you make of this comment? "W.F. Hermans de-masked this wanna be artist Raaymakers long time ago and it is unbelievable the trash of this looser is still polluting the world and poising our minds."
Avatar 4:04pm Bas NL:

Kreng = A horrible woman
Avatar 4:05pm northguineahills:

Could have swore I've heard that Kreng piece before as something else, maybe as a dj mix cd.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:05pm steveo:

Avatar 4:09pm Bas NL:

Raaymakers was one of the first in electronic music. (And W.F. Hermans was a gifted writer but not a very amicable man...)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:10pm steveo:

"Extrapolating as cubic is to cubed, quartic could become quarted and quintic could become quinted and so on. Extrapolating further, as quartet and quintet, three musicians could be a cubetet and two players could be a squaretet or quadratet." --from reddit
Avatar 4:17pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

violently digging.
Avatar 4:23pm Fredericks:

Thanks Bas, I know next to nothing about either of them. It seems W.F. was staunchly anti-socialist.
Avatar 4:25pm Fredericks:

Fabio, do you have "Chairman Mao is our Guide?" It came out in 1970.
Avatar 4:26pm Bas NL:

Hi @Fredericks! Well.. he lashed out left and right.. and up and down..
Avatar 4:26pm Itzall Ablurr:

Is this Mernio Enniconne in reverse?
Avatar 4:29pm Fredericks:

One of those guys, huh?
Avatar 4:31pm Bas NL:

Avant-garde.. anti-establishment..
Avatar 4:33pm Chris from DC:

That feeling when you've been in meetings all afternoon and finally get time for this.
Avatar 4:35pm Fredericks:

Now I want to know more about him. Forget Raaijmaker, unless Fabio has the above mentioned Mao piece.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:39pm Fabio:

@ Fredericks: It's available in this boxed set of his work: The Complete Tape Music Of Dick Raaijmakers -- not sure if it's still available or not, but we do have it here in the library. I've played things from the box many times since its release. don't think I'll get to it today though....
Avatar 4:42pm Bas NL:

I got that box set too.. recommended.
Avatar 4:42pm Jeff Moore:

If you like this Amore Violento... you might also like Arne Nordheim's Colorazione (for Hammond Organ X-66, Percussion, Delay, Ring Modulator And Filters)

  4:43pm Brendan:

This bed music has transported me to a Wurlitzer Wonderland
Avatar 4:46pm Chris from DC:

Machinefabriek is incredibly prolific, too.
Avatar 4:48pm Bas NL:

I met Machinefabriek/Rutger Zuydervelt a couple of times.. always busy and running around. He's amazing 'live' on stage.
Avatar 4:50pm Fredericks:

I understand. Maybe you can grab it next time you are grazing the library.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:50pm tim from champaign:

What's the movie with the hippie drug dealer?
  4:52pm Brendan:

Danny the dealer
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:53pm Mr. Pumpy:

Gosford Park is great. Co-written by Julian Fellowes, writer and creator of Downton Abbey. Also quite good, albeit not with the direction of Altman.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:53pm Ike:

Spellbound is good. Hitchcock started showing interest in the relatively new fad for psychological therapy.
  4:53pm mzmzmz:

I have "News from Home" VHS!! is one of my treasure collection.
Avatar 4:56pm Chris from DC:

@Bas would like to see Machinefabriek one day.
  4:57pm Brendan:

I snuck into Emanuelle as a kid with friends. We were transfixed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:00pm Michael 98145:

Those were simpler times. Wonder what is like growing up surrounded by porn ...?
Avatar 5:02pm Fredericks:

This Rimarimba is nuts. I like it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:02pm Michael 98145:

i'm constantly reminded how much i love this station
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:04pm Mr. Pumpy:

@Fredericks. First off I would say a person's name should be spelled correctly, especially when an affront of some sort is the main focus (even if only reporting on it...perhaps it was Google translate. Secondy I would say, to each their own. I hate so much art criticism at this point that I stopped freelancing as far as reviews go. I like to write a more informative piece about something I appreciate rather than going in cold and being forced to pass judgment. I have agree more than ever with Zappa's statement, 'Writing about music is like dancing about architecture." I'm pretty sure he meant reviews/critiques being he read a shit-yon about music in his autodidactic exploration of composition and such. Anyhow...what do you make of that quote?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:07pm Mr. Pumpy:

Typos aside...
Avatar 5:09pm Bas NL:

I found you have to find a reviewer first that has your taste in music. ;)
Avatar 5:13pm Bas NL:

Fabio, do you do reviews?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:14pm Carmichael:

Zappa also said "Most rock journalism is people who can't write, interviewing people who can't talk, for people who can't read."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:15pm Fabio:

@ Bas: I have done some, not a lot. mostly on film -- much less on music.
Avatar 5:16pm Fredericks:

Mr. P. I have to say I agree more than a little bit with the quote.
I did not know the dancing architecture quote was Zappa's.
Regarding my originating quote: I like this line with the typos "polluting the world and poising our minds."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17pm Mr. Pumpy:

@Bas...I get that, but it's not opinion I'm looking for of late as much as analysis. Maybe I read to many reviews in my day. Who knows? I see your point, though. Roger Ebert was my movie man because even when I disagreed with him he seemed to be looking at all aspects of the work.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:20pm Mr. Pumpy:

Fredericks...yes! I wasn't going to even point out that trainwreck of a passage.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:22pm Mr. Pumpy:

Wait...maybe they meant poising!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:22pm Ike:

Pauline Kael forever.
Avatar 5:22pm Bas NL:

I did some concert reviews back in the MySpace days. I learned not to listen to other members in the public and to start with a quick list of positive points. Then a review was easily made: just balance the positive.
Avatar 5:23pm Fredericks:

I loved it. Main reason I posted it.

Architecture quote belongs to Martin Mull ATMR
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:24pm Carmichael:

Digging the Fripp and Eno. Experimental innovators!
Avatar 5:24pm stefica:

love this fripp&eno!!!!!!! thanks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:27pm Kat in Chicago:

Evening Star is the other one I believe
  5:27pm nic:

yeah great!!!
Avatar 5:32pm glenn:

how many enzo barbarinos does it take to screw in a light bulb?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:34pm Mr. Pumpy:

Fredericks...I've seen an interview wherein Zappa says the exact words, so one or both of them is a plagiarist. No concern of mine, it's the sentiment I am pointing out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:34pm common:

Happy Thursday, all
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:36pm Mr. Pumpy:

This Fripp/Eno record is a top ten for me. And I love this reissue with the reverses and half speeds.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:37pm tim from champaign:

I'm really curious about the expanded Fripp/Eno with reverses and half speedds. It will take it into Neu 2 territory.
Avatar 5:40pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Zappa seems like quite the plagiarist in general [trigger warning; sacrilege]. Tried to drink the FZ kool-aid as a young person. Alas it did not stick.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:40pm common:

This is great
Avatar 5:40pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

also: common speaks truth.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:41pm Mr. Pumpy:

@tim...check it out. I feel it was done with care and the extras are only there if you want them. I find it interesting to hear them in different form after decades of listening to the straight-up tracks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:44pm Mr. Pumpy:

Zappa could be a mute or braggart. It's of little consequence as his compositions speak for themselves
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:50pm Mr. Pumpy:

Efrim Manuel Menuck. Nice. Silver Mt. Zion and Bardo Pond...one of my favorite shows.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:54pm Carmichael:

@RTD, yep, me too. He was trying to be taken seriously and acting like Spike Jones at the same time. I just enjoy his more esoteric guitar solos and leave it at that.
  5:56pm nic:

love this_great show!!!
Avatar 5:57pm chocolate monk:

thanks, Fab xx
Avatar 5:59pm Bas NL:

Great show Fabio! Thanks for all the fantastic tunes!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:59pm Mr. Pumpy:

Thanks you, Fabio. Me likes the Kool-Aid!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:00pm Rich in Washington:

OH! Thatcher!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:00pm Rich in Washington:

Thanks, Fabio!
