Hola, fleep!
Avatar 9:52pm coelacanth∅:

Daniel is staying home and listening to wfmu grand style? if that's a mayyybe, would having a beer - a very good beer -convert it to grand?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53pm Ike:

It's grand even with just seltzer! (Very good seltzer.)
Avatar 9:54pm coelacanth∅:

(...i subconsciously keep expecting this song to break into "magic bus".)
Avatar 9:56pm coelacanth∅:

i don't have any seltzer; i'll have to settle for beer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:56pm Daniel Blumin:

coela, sounds grand to me! Ike, bottoms up!
9:56pm matt in ridgewood formerly matt in berwyn:

can send pix @daniel have a wfmu address? other paintings have been worked on /made during these sets :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:58pm melinda:

I'm about to have some Gerolsteiner with lime.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:00pm Tome:

hi Daniel and everyone , happy some what Fall
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:00pm steve:

i got a juicebox of Salad Power brand veggie pineapple juice
Avatar 10:00pm coelacanth∅:

if i'm not mistaken, that's not good seltzer; it's very good mineral water. (even better)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:02pm Fuzzy:

Ooh -- what is this bed music? A mixdisc a friend gave me had this on it -- wish I could find that disc!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:02pm melinda:

Yeah, I guess I go for the mineral water. Gerolsteiner also sounds like it could be a beer, if you don't know any better.
Avatar 10:02pm coelacanth∅:

people gettin' crazy up in here!
- i might go hog wild and have a cucumber sandwich with mayonnaise!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04pm melinda:

@coel Bluminaughties know how to have a good time
  10:04pm tuskandhusk:

That is cray
Avatar 10:06pm coelacanth∅:

i prefer the mineral waters. smaller bubbles. i'm not into lots of carbonation; i like barely bubbly beers too. (ie scottish ales, irish stouts...)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14pm Fox:

Greetings, all you beautiful radio people!
  10:15pm JakeGould:

Gerolsteiner is basically a bicarbonate. Like drinking baking soda. I hope it is being a buoyed, but one should be careful.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17pm Daniel Blumin:

Thx, matt! Hi, Tome! Fuzzy, it's Tom Recchion's Chaotica album! The track is "Out of the Dunes".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:21pm Daniel Blumin:

tuskandhusk, thx fer the ears! Greetz, Fox & JGould! coela, be careful! Think before you leap! Some have been known to start using terms like dotard upon ingestion!
Avatar 10:21pm coelacanth∅:

hi Fox!
Avatar 10:24pm coelacanth∅:

Daniel, i haven't had indigestion in many years, but i think the word i uttered was "abalone".
Avatar 10:26pm coelacanth∅:

Jake - mmm, refreshing baking soda with lemon!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27pm Ike:

I love stuff that "sounds like I ran over a shopping cart with my car and am dragging it for miles" to quote a complainer on an old Bryce playlist. (Earlier I was wondering how far back "marbles in a blender" goes. Turns out it's 2012! Holy moley! Time flies like a banana! wfmu.org... )
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29pm Fuzzy:

@Daniel: ah yes -- that's it -- thanks!
Avatar 10:32pm coelacanth∅:

would that be a propeller-driven or a jet banana?...or a dirigible?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:32pm steve:

Ike - did i ever tell you that the troll in question (who still reappears now and then under the same handle) is the troubled brother of my college roommate?
Avatar 10:33pm coelacanth∅:

(or is this a new species of winged bananas)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:35pm melinda:

@jake I sometimes drink baking soda w/water as an antacid, not quite the same as Gerolsteiner.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:37pm Ike:

@Steve: HA HA! Not that I recall! What I love about that thread is that Bryce was so persistently nice to him that he finally calmed down. @C∅: What is the air-speed velocity of an unladen banana?
  10:39pm Marc15:

This song is special to me, because I can relate to the level of "Honey's" depression.
Avatar 10:40pm JakeGould:

The problem with baking soda as an antacid is you need to be careful with how much you drink at once. Some people actually get worse stomach issues with that stuff because it kinda forces the stomach to produce MORE acid if you still have food in you. So you solve one problem but exacerbate it in the long run.

Anyway, enjoy it if you wish! I judge not!
Avatar 10:41pm JakeGould:

@Ike: Was that troll on Bryce’s show today?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:41pm Chop Scott:

Cheers to you Daniel!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43pm Ike:

@Jake, no, but there was discussion of "marbles in a blender" as there often is, & so I got nostalgic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43pm melinda:

I have experimented for years with various acid reflux remedies, including acid supplementation (on the theory that low acid can cause reflux). Baking soda is a band-aid but works.
Avatar 10:45pm coelacanth∅:

Ike, i do not know. we're doing tests. the mathematicians are in the basement right now working on that. i told them they don't get any food until they figure it out, but they keep saying they need more bananas for tests. they might be bamboozling me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:46pm steve:

i love the sounds my vitamix makes, whatever's in it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47pm Daniel Blumin:

Cheers, Sir Chop!
Avatar 10:47pm coelacanth∅:

i'm going to try that shopping cart idea.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47pm melinda:

I wear earplugs when I use my blender. I don't know how much it slows age-related hearing loss, but it seems like it might help.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49pm fleep:

I'm still waiting for a slowed down echo of two dumpsters crashing into each other for 15 minutes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:50pm Fox:

I got ear protector/mufflers that are worn by people in construction, and wear them over my cheap earbuds when I take the subway so I can hear all the words in podcasts without blasting the sound.
Avatar 10:51pm coelacanth∅:

i use ear plugs when i use the shopvac. (which is my only vac)
Avatar 10:53pm JakeGould:

For reference: “Is that the guy that plays the alarm clock for two hours? I'll never understand how people are into that. I was talking to a friend about that show and how I hate it and he was like, "No way! That show rules! The other day he played a slowed down echo of two dumpsters crashing into each other for 15 minutes. It was amazing!"” www.reddit.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54pm George of Troy:

Good evening, Daniel! Love this High Boys track.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:55pm steve:

i am also still waiting for the magical dumpster echo music
Avatar 10:55pm coelacanth∅:

Fox that's kinda the opposite of my method when i play the drums to something via headphones...ear plugs with insulated headphones. (still sometimes it's hard to hear the music i'm drumming to over the drums)
Avatar 10:56pm JakeGould:

You know what might be a good WFMU premium? A “Budda Box” that just plays the echo of two dumpsters crashing into each other for 15 minutes.
Avatar 11:04pm JakeGould:

Happened at 4:02pm today. Adios summer. Also, it is 5778 and tomorrow is the rapture? Good thing I’m eating better!
Avatar 11:05pm coelacanth∅:

i can't do the rapture tomorrow; i'm going to a wedding.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Good evening, Daniel and Bluminoids.
Avatar 11:09pm JakeGould:

I can’t get the phrase “Mentally Deranged U.S. Dotard” out of my head. It actually makes me wistful for the old New York I grew up in where the old folks would be sitting in front of the building and on my way home someone—maybe even my mom or dad—would ask me “What’s a ‘Dotard?’”
Avatar 11:09pm coelacanth∅:

"honey" borrowed heavily from "gentle on my mind".
...i've heard the song, once or twice and incidentally, and never realised that 'till now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:11pm Ike:

@Fox@10:50, that's brilliant! I'm a dotard for not thinking of that. I've gotta try that. There's a construction supply joint right down the street from me. I got some traffic cones there once.
  11:15pm jeff-m and Rodney:

cheers man
Avatar 11:16pm JakeGould:

‘The word makes a few appearances in Shakespeare. “I speak not like a dotard nor a fool,” Leonato says in “Much Ado About Nothing.”’

‘And Herman Melville used it in a poem about a shark. “Eyes and brains to the dotard lethargic and dull, Pale ravener of horrible meat.”’
  11:17pm karankeeone:

come on already...change the record, please, pretty please???
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18pm Daniel Blumin:

Greetings, Ken, jefferson + Rodney! JakeG, thankses fer the Melville!
Avatar 11:19pm JakeGould:

@DanielBlumin: You’re welcome! It is a sad and beautiful world and a mental case in North Korea who is using and outdated dictionary has inadvertently made many people in this world more literate.

The Maldive Shark

By Herman Melville

About the Shark, phlegmatical one,
Pale sot of the Maldive sea,
The sleek little pilot-fish, azure and slim,
How alert in attendance be.
From his saw-pit of mouth, from his charnel of maw
They have nothing of harm to dread,
But liquidly glide on his ghastly flank
Or before his Gorgonian head;
Or lurk in the port of serrated teeth
In white triple tiers of glittering gates,
And there find a haven when peril’s abroad,
An asylum in jaws of the Fates!
They are friends; and friendly they guide him to prey,
Yet never partake of the treat—
Eyes and brains to the dotard lethargic and dull,
Pale ravener of horrible meat.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30pm fleep:

Avatar 11:32pm JakeGould:

@fleep: Melville would be all up in your dolphin business.
Avatar 11:34pm coelacanth∅:

i like that poem
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:38pm steve:

not a word in that poem that shouldn't be a band name
