The run-around drill sergeant of love meets the freeform radio nurse in an international popularity crisis. Twang, dub, noise, rockers, aliens, drum machines, foreigners, imported goods, songs, rumbles, hollers, blips and squiggles, along with an occasional musical number.

Upcoming events:

Friday, August 4th, 9pm - Midnight: Courtis/Moore
Argentinian artist Alan Courtis, who last performed at WFMU in 2001 as a founding member of Reynols, and has collaborated with the likes of Merzbow, Jim O'Rourke, and Pauline Oliveros, joins forces with founding member of Volcano the Bear and Gospel of Mars, Aaron Moore, as they play their first WFMU session together. With hundreds of releases between them including several as a duo, their set promises to be one full of vari-speed tape loops, soundy guitar manipulations, cracked electronics, off-kilter percussion, interstellar improv, and saucy experimentation! Don't miss! See Alan Courtis/Cyrus Pireh/Aaron Moore live at Secret Project Robot on August 2nd. Then see Alan Courtis again at Trans-Pecos on Sunday, August 6th.

Friday, August 11th, 9pm - Midnight: Poptone
In the beginning, there was the gloriously theatrical post-punk fierceness of Bauhaus. Then came the darkly playful, genre-bending, experimental pop of Tones on Tail and the sometimes-dreamy, sometimes-blistering psychedelic glam of Love and Rockets. This summer, two of the founding members of all three era-defining bands, Daniel Ash & Kevin Haskins, have returned to the stage as Poptone! Playing tracks from throughout their storied career with a special focus on the Tones on Tail material, most of which has not been performed live since 1984 in any guise, the trio (with Diva Dompe on bass) is spectacular! Take a break from the Batcave and tune in for a performance and interview! Bubblemen not included.

See Poptone live on Thursday, August 3rd, at the Stone Pony and Saturday, August 5th, at Irving Plaza.
