Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:18pm Daniel Blumin:

Hi JakeG, Mike tp, papageno, ms_a, steve!!! Welcome to Friday night! Hi to the lurkah massive!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:19pm Uncle Michael:

Hello, Daniel....party people. Shall we elevate the roof on this sucker?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:24pm Daniel Blumin:

Hi, UMichael. This is a different kind of elevation, but we're getting there?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:26pm Uncle Michael:

Yes! Mike Cooper is the best. Never heard his version of Dolphins before!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:27pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Alright, here we go! Dantzy pantz back from the cleaners and all ready for another season!
Avatar 9:27pm coelacanth∅:

greetings Daniel and Bluminaries
Avatar 9:28pm coelacanth∅:

this is an Olivia Newton-John song, right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:34pm Daniel Blumin:

Ken, yes! New sched here at USS WFMU in full effect! coela, it's a Fred Neil numbah...
Avatar 9:41pm coelacanth∅:

haha! of course! -well everybody was talkin' about dolphins then...it sure sounded a lot like Olivia's song though. really just like it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:45pm peter_aitch:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47pm Daniel Blumin:

Hola, peter!
  9:47pm Eric Hat:

Good evening Daniel. Love this Track. The whole Ry Cooter album matter of fact... Never seen the movie though.
  9:48pm matt:

It's a pretty good flick, eric
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:52pm Daniel Blumin:

Eric, see it!
  9:57pm jeff-m:

I like it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:57pm Ken From Hyde Park:

It just occurred to me that we're mid-way between Ides of March today.
Avatar 9:58pm JakeGould:

@KenFromHydePark: So you’re saying me doing laundry yesterday was a bad idea?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:58pm Fuzzy:

What is an ide, anyway? It's not a valid Scrabble word...
  9:59pm Eric Hat:

I actually can't believe I haven't considering how many years I've been crying to that track...
  10:00pm Eric Hat:

I guess cause it reminds me of how stupid I can be...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:02pm melinda:

Hi Daniel and Bluminauts! I see that I missed both the Paris Tx track and a Fred Neil song that sounded like Olivia Newton-John. I have to start tuning in earlier!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:03pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@Jake - Need to get a tarot card assessment from Stashu about the laundry. Tarot cards tell all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:03pm Uncle Michael:

I'm on at the same time as J.A. for a while...then I'm not.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04pm melinda:

Sad news about Harry Dean.
Avatar 10:04pm JakeGould:

I would rather roll the dice to solve life’s problems.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05pm melinda:

Great soundtrack.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:06pm steve:

Repo Man is probably my favorite movie
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07pm melinda:

@steve one of my favorites too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07pm Uncle Michael:

I thought Bruce Dern drove a lawnmower a very, very long way in a film.
Avatar 10:08pm JakeGould:

What broad were you studying, Dan?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:08pm melinda:

I'll confess here that The Straight Story is my favorite David Lynch film.
Avatar 10:08pm JakeGould:

Bruce Dern just murders people in films.
Avatar 10:09pm coelacanth∅:

melinda i was just being silly. that track,"dolphins" did not actually sound like the Olivia Newton-John song...in the least.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:09pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I was looking at HDS' site on IMDB and his first role was on the Inner Sanctum TV series in 1954, before most of us here were born, probably.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:09pm melinda:

Richard Farnsworth was the driver of the lawnmower, HDS was the brother the went to see
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:10pm melinda:

@coel that's funny. I was trying to imagine what it sounded like.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:11pm melinda:

he, not the
Avatar 10:12pm coelacanth∅:

well to be honest i was having trouble imagining Fred Neil singing it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:12pm Uncle Michael:

Assistant station manager?
Avatar 10:16pm coelacanth∅:

Daniel -Fabio did an excellent tribute to Wm. Berger as well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17pm common:

Avatar 10:18pm JakeGould:

Oh now you’re making me sad.
Avatar 10:18pm coelacanth∅:

...i think you might really like "sinistre!" - another of his projects; which i did not know about until yesterday. Fabio played some of that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19pm Chop Scott:

William Berger. Huge loss to the WFMU family.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:20pm Faye:

well here come the much anticipated tears
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:20pm Daniel Blumin:

Unc Michael, you are right! I meant Harry was the estranged brother! Dang it all.
Avatar 10:21pm Number Six:

Here's an obscure Harry Dean Stanton role for you: he provided the singing voice of Brave Heart Lion in the Care Bears Movie in 1985.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22pm Daniel Blumin:

Thanks, coela. I've been pulling very long hours at work this week and I plan on checking out the archives... I have that sinistre - Wm gave me that one back in the day!
Avatar 10:23pm JakeGould:

FWIW, I have a vague memory of watching this episode of “Young, Gifted and Broke” back in the day. But anyway, here is the “Uncle Wiggly” of that public access show. www.youtube.com...
Avatar 10:24pm coelacanth∅:

wow i remember all of those djs. i met wild girl at a record fair. she wasn't super friendly but i really liked her show; especially because every week she'd have "racing news" and "recycling news"!
Avatar 10:25pm JakeGould:

This is so good.
Avatar 10:26pm khd:

thanks for this - liked hearing the details behind his opening :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27pm Daniel Blumin:

Hi Chop Scott and Faye... Terribly sad week here at WFMU.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:28pm Daniel Blumin:

Khd, I'll roll this for a while...
Avatar 10:31pm coelacanth∅:

i used to record a lot of the station ids. some where pretty funny.
i wonder if William created any of them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:34pm melinda:

This is a nice tribute. I think that for as long as I've been listening to FMU Wm's show was too late for me so I was not familiar with any of it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:34pm Daniel Blumin:

He probably did - there are some marathon promos in this segment...
Avatar 10:35pm Dave the Spazz:

Thanks for this, Daniel
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:35pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Riveting...this is awesome. So glad that WFMU has the archives vault to draw from.
  10:36pm Mike Sin:

Daniel, thanks for playing William's "radio greats" appearance -- that was a fine tribute.
Avatar 10:37pm JakeGould:

So glad that WFMU has DJs that are archivists as well as DJs even if they don’t realize they are archivists.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:37pm Philthy woman:

aw damn. all around. Thank you for this though. SO fucking good.
Avatar 10:44pm coelacanth∅:

aw shit. Paul Cavenaugh was the first show that i listened to religiously.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:03pm Daniel Blumin:

Thank you, phil!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:06pm Chris J:

Great reminiscences, Daniel. PS: I could very well be mistaken, but I think at one point WB had this very same Friday time slot.
  11:08pm Santos L Halper:

Thanks for this Daniel, awesome stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:09pm Daniel Blumin:

I think I do remember Wm. telling me that, Chris J! Thanks, Santos!
Avatar 11:11pm JakeGould:

FWIW, Mr. Fine Wine just confirmed as much—regarding the Friday slot at 9:00pm—on tonight’s show.
Avatar 11:14pm newberry:

That Tuesday WFMU thing was hilarious!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17pm melinda:

I liked the bit about the new schedule.
Avatar 11:23pm coelacanth∅:

  11:28pm ms_a:

Thanks Daniel.
Avatar 11:28pm khd:

great stuff - thanks again, gonna follow up with your archive!
Avatar 11:28pm newberry:

So that new Tuesday schedule spoof was Wm. Berger, right?
Avatar 11:28pm coelacanth∅:

that was both saddening and fun as hell. Thank you Daniel.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:29pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Very nice. Thanks for putting this together, Daniel.
  11:31pm Jeremy:

Great tribute, Daniel. RIP Wm. Talent oozed out of the man.
  11:33pm combokid:

William Berger is as elementary to WFMU as Frank Balistreri , Lou Dantonio and Bruce Longstreet good bye my friend
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:34pm Daniel Blumin:

Yes, it was - the whole last hour + was Wm. Berger, newberry!
  11:36pm ?:

anyone know how he passed?
  11:37pm combokid:

I can only find that he passed "suddenly" which could mean anything
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:38pm Daniel Blumin:

Thanks, Jeremy, coela, khd, ms_a, Ken, melinda & combokid. There's no info w/ regard to cause of death, ?.
Avatar 11:44pm JakeGould:

FWIW, he was not shy about sharing he was suffering from some health issues and a few last minute fill-ins were related to that. So I hope wherever he is, he’s at peace in some way. R.I.P.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45pm melinda:

Nite everyone. Thanks Daniel.
Avatar 11:52pm coelacanth∅:

gnight melinda
Swag For Life Member 11:55pm 12539:
