I still think it's crazy that Sabbath played a Catholic High School gym in NJ in 1971. A flyer was on the cover of a Sabbath book, submitted by one of the guys in the Smithereens. Just trying to imaging the look on the faces of the clergy in the school with that young and likely high bunch coming through with the tri-tones.

@Honeybear - I just imagine some student-run entertainment club running the idea of having Sabbath play. Think this was before "Master of Reality" was recorded, so don't think they tried to pass the lyrics of "After Forever" to the nuns for review.

I'm enough of a youngster that I didn't get to see the Buttholes until their reunion tour in '08, but even THAT was wild. They had to cut the gig short when Gibby threw a beer bottle at the sound guy and got escorted out by security, and the crowd went APESHIT. I got through so many tough deadlines for Rick&Morty with coffee and "my castle of quiet" as my only companions fueling my late nights. I'm supremely bummed that swell guy is gone. I remember distinctly that I storyboarded stupid Rick scenes while he was playing a "Mercyful Fate" block. I used to keep a pad of paper by my computer and write down music he recommended. His departure is a huge void. R.I.P.

Looks like Dum Dum is already listed on the schedule in that slot. :( {sob} His taste in metal is nowhere near as good as Wm.'s. For that matter, I bet Wm. would have been better at writing and soliciting poems about brutally slaughtering the baby Jesus, too, if he'd had any interest in such a thing. [pours out a 40 of whatever cheap crap Dum Dum is drinking lately]

Ike, I had a bad experience w/ Dum Dum. about 14 years ago, my band was to play at WFMU, but the marathon was going on, so all of the equipment from studio B was gone, and studio A was bare bones, so, we played w/ the dj w/ no studio engineers. Everything went wrong, and we barely got a set off before the end of the time slot w/ 10 minutes to spare. We were breaking down our equipment and Dum Dum came in and ordered us out as he needed to get into character. (We would have been out before midnight, but his manner hit us the wrong way. That said, I have no ill feelings towards him).
