How many people thought today's show would begin with the Hoof & Mouth rendition of Mr. Giant Man?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:05pm
Sem Chumbo:

Mr. Giant Man never fails to make me laugh.
  3:06pm
Listener Robert:

I was a little disappointed at Hoof & Mouth for their not acting it out better. There should've been a particular dancer to be pointed to to go w the line, "YOU can dance in double time."

I have a friend who is something of a Muzak connoisseur. It's been a while but I think I remember him telling me that the version made for offices is sequenced to coincide with the ups and downs of a typical work day. Hence the term, "Stimulus Progression".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:21pm
Guido from Cologne:

by very chance I own Stimulus Progression Vol. One (www.discogs.com...). The LP seems to be more of a demo about the services they do for companies.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:22pm
Guido from Cologne:

Guess this is for Alice Coltrane.
  4:26pm
rw:

Developed in the 1960s, Muzak’s “Stimulus Code” is based on an hourly cycle of gradually changing intensity that climaxes every fifteen minutes while purporting to reenergize human activity.

Stop work order is issued by NYC Dept of Bldgs for any number of various unsafe conditions at a job site, usually.

daevid Allen was on the first and only single of Soft Machine.

The Georgio Gromelsky produced early demos with Deavid Allen are on the market in numberless packages for decades. Most of it is the same stuff as the first SoftMachine album.
  4:58pm
V Priceless:

Their's an early SM demos CD reissue on Decal from '89 with Daevid Allen. Thanks for this trib, Fabio!

There is a highly recommended "Space rock"-special issue of Shindig magazine. Hawkwind, a verty critical view on Gong regarding authorship and Allen heaving left the band for certain important months, BBC-workshop, Joe Meek and ... very good ... an article comparing "Black-Space-Myths" of Geoge Clinton and Sun Ra !

@ Guido: I find the demo versions of the first SM record in many ways even cooler than the official release. Not surprising, given the magnatude of DA's talent mixed among the Wyatt, Ayers and Ratledge.

I find both incarnations of equal quality.
And having heard both, you get an idea of the band getting more into jamming out the songs written by Kevyn Ayers. Some groundbreaking work.

And the single is just fantastic. I wish thy made more of theese.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:10pm

steve, G, V Priceless: cheers. that's pretty much what i inferred it would be, in which case, i join you in being puzzled as to why they've mentioned this 11-year-old order in reference to this case. we shall see, i guess.

I only saw Daevid Allen twice: once with Gong and once in a James Harrar project with Rogier Smal and Marshall Allen (a Sun Ra related thing). The Gong show was fun, but the other one made me appreciate him more as a musician, without the showman part which didn't work for me.
