Good Morning Bill. Just sqeezing in a quick Hello before the Brits stampede the board...
Avatar 3:08am Sem Chumbo:

Hiya, Bill. Hello, P-90.
*The British are coming, the British are coming!*
Avatar 3:09am Andy in Berlin:

Good morning all! A cool pre-fall morning at the Virtual Diner. I ordered my usual eggs-over-light and decided to splurge on the toasted bagel. Coffee on the way.
Avatar 3:13am Sem Chumbo:

A little smoked salmon here, on a Montreal bagel, and a schmeer. Coffee, of course, but not that monkey-poo kind. Too much fun ensues.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:13am mauri:

Good morning Bill and everyone. A day of carrying soundsystem ahead.
  3:14am michael and Birgit:

Good Morning Bill and all t the show. We`re ready while playing. My Son asked me: is theres any wild music on the show?

@M&B Wild music eh? Does he have anything in mind?
  3:20am michael and Birgit:

Nothing special, he`s 5 Years old. I got some Cramps Records, Date with Elvis in orange vinyl. He always want`s to hear that. So maybe something like that if it fit`s with the Programm. Black Lips is also working.

  3:31am michael and Birgit:

Akron Family, good choice !
Avatar 3:32am Andy in Berlin:

uhh...is this some new definition of "wild music" that I was hitherto unaware of?
  3:33am coalhard:

My wife from Akron, Ohio--I know band is not I bet they wish they were
Avatar 3:33am Bill Mac:

You know better than that Andy - it's about subtle disorientation.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33am mauri:

Akron Family. Soothing. I feel almost the sunny autumn day coming already. Inspiring.

Avatar 3:44am Jay/London:

@ Brian do you like it too ?
Avatar 3:46am Andy in Berlin:

@Bill - I love this track but it's making my eggs fly around the room. Marge the waitress is looking at me funny.
Avatar 3:46am Brian in UK:

Some works, some is a bit muddled but that is the nature of the game. Only the Martins could have got away with doing it.
Avatar 3:48am Bill Mac:

@Andy Wild enough? Maybe?
Avatar 3:49am Brian in UK:

Andy. Scramble eggs. Toast at four o'clock coming out of the florescent light. Hash browns caught a packet, downed in the granola.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:49am Fran:

I haven't heard the Love album other than seeing that documentary on it at the time it came out but I have some Marmite feelings about a lot of the post Beatles releases such as Free As A Bird, Let It Be...Naked etc
  3:49am P-90:

Now this here is some wild musics
Avatar 3:49am Andy in Berlin:

@ Bill - not complaining, merely reporting. Now Marge on the other hand...
Avatar 3:50am Brian in UK:

Beatles & AC/DC do not allow Spotify to use their material.
Avatar 3:51am Jay/London:

Avatar 3:53am Brian in UK:

Is it a mash-up when it is all the same artists material?
  3:53am P-90:

No, not maybe: pick up those mash-ups and play 'em
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:54am Fran:

Maybe P-90 maybe........maybe......
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:57am Fran:

The acoustic piece on the death metal album....better than the disco cut on the Peter Hammill album I guess?

Avatar 4:02am Jay/London:

@ stanley all together now ....
Avatar 4:03am Bill Mac:

@KP - Were your ears ringing a couple weeks ago? We played something from 7&7 comp
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:04am Fran:

I doubt it Bill - although Hammill always said he was a 'soulboy' in his youth I think he meant torturing souls - the Georgio Moroder mix of Man Erg I can confidently say is non existent as is the Peter Hammill disco movie which the Bee Gees just beat him to the post with - Peter's Saturday Night Feverish Nightmare only needed a little editing apparently?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:07am Stanley:

And the album didn't even feature on the Mojo weird list!
Avatar 4:07am Sem Chumbo:

I like being there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:11am Fran:

This Soul Jazz release is lovely - bought the vinyl a while back. They have released a great series on Punk/Post Punk too and some recent great Brazilian reissues - great label and also shop in Soho London!
  4:11am KP:

Yes! The drums, the drums told me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:13am Fran:

Ah the MOJO list!
Avatar 4:13am Brian in UK:

Fran Second the Soul Jazz comment.
Avatar 4:14am Brian in UK:

Kate Bush overkill right now. It will pass.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:15am Fran:

One of my pit stops on London trips - the reggae comps are outstanding too.
  4:15am coalhard:

I love my crazy British brothers still don't know how they keep their crummpits so fresh meant comments
  4:15am KP:

Actually it was loyal listener Guido. He ran 24.7 miles to tell me, then didn't feel so good
Avatar 4:16am Jay/London:

@ Brian and she does not want people to use there phones
Avatar 4:17am Bill Mac:

Kate Bush doesn't want people to use phones?
Avatar 4:18am Brian in UK:

Quite right Jay. Whilst you are looking at a screen you are not listening. Bring a lighter.
  4:19am coalhard:

It's Klingon motherfucker do you speak it
Avatar 4:19am Bill Mac:

@KP He forgot to hydrate didn't he...
Avatar 4:20am Brian in UK:

Bugs me when I am trying to watch & listen and some prat in front is taking a limp wristed picture on their Imemine telephone.
Avatar 4:21am Bill Mac:

@Jay Ohhhhh, I get it... yeah, watch the show, don't record it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:21am Fran:

Brian - well done for lasting over an hour to mention the Kate Bush subject! Love a lot of what Kate Bush has done but if there ever was an over hyped series of overpriced concerts largely populated by non fans who just want to brag on Facebook or similar about the fact they are going and posting ridiculous pictures of a ticket, blurred image of a small lady singing with session musicians etc in a smug way - this is it! My theory is that they will be treated to perhaps 2-3 'hits' a lot of album tracks many non fans don't know and the odd ' thank you for being so special' blather from the stage. I also have a theory that she may not last 28 days or whatever due to nervous exhaustion, stage fright or whatever. In my book I have saved the money for around 15 gigs by interesting artists that need the support - rant over!
Avatar 4:22am Bill Mac:

She doesn't tour much does she?
Avatar 4:23am Brian in UK:

Bill, nicely understated. If you mean no tours since 1979.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:24am Fran:

and...................the camera phone thing. Yes annoying but unfortunately the modern world and the odd snap I can handle/do myself if I think I won't be in someone's face. What is worse is the hullaballoo caused by over officious staff who annoy everyone else telling them to stop or as happens sometimes idiotically shining a torch in on someone and blinding everyone else in the process - rant 2 over!
Avatar 4:24am Bill Mac:

Yeah, my statement was made in total ignorance, not subtle sarcasm.
  4:25am coalhard:

Hippies love Kate ALL THAT MATTERS
Avatar 4:25am Brian in UK:

Fran not a rant. London or modern audiences. They have no gig ettiqutte.
Avatar 4:26am Bill Mac:

I'm reluctant to take pictures at shows, and of course they always look stupid. It's really not necessary in the long run.
  4:26am P-90:

LOVE the toy piano tucked in the mix
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:26am Guido from Cologne:

Good morning Bill and hello to the cother cafe shop visitors!
  4:27am coalhard:

What--did US just legalize pot only to hear bad shit about Kate
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:27am Stanley:

Fran re:Kate Bush - well said. The Great British Public are at it again. Collective hysteria and vanity.
Avatar 4:27am Brian in UK:

Fran were you at Caf Oto just before Christmas to see Lonnie Holley?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:30am Fran:

I'll take pictures at a standing show if I am real close up and not annoying anyone, never use flash etc but other than if you can't get a decent photo why would you do it. Etiquette at gigs - those who come to a gig to have the same loud conversation they could have in a pub without paying for it and annoying all around them......yup, its gone Brian! Although that said at Slint recently I was expecting the chattering classless and got a surprise by some respect for the quiet-loud-quiet dynamic - wheyhey!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:32am Stanley:

Here's my suggestion for bands today. At the start request everyone to take as many pictures as they want during the first number and also announce that a recording of the gig will be up on YouTube the next day. So put the fucking devices away and enjoy the live experience.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:33am Fran:

Yes Stanley - collective hysteria once only reserved for Paul 'Fabmaccawackythumbsup' Macca and his mop top pals! Brian - no, I saw him in Salford at Islington Mill - superb!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:34am Fran:

Stanley - Ry Cooder did that in Newcastle a few years back regarding photos and it sort of worked - gets my vote!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:34am Guido from Cologne:

Grass Roots : maybe a bit underestimated over the time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:34am Stanley:

Oh and I forgot here's a selfie of me enjoying the show.
Avatar 4:34am Bill Mac:

I may have brought this up at some other point in the past, but I went to see the White Stripes at a bar in Philly before they broke - place was packed @ 150 people but you could tell that the "Friday Night Crowd" were c out in full force - yapping in between songs instead of being involved with the show.
Avatar 4:35am Jay/London:

@ stanley I just do not understand why people watch the gig
though a tiny screen ... you got my vote too
  4:35am KP:

Camera phones don't work in dark. I think they should shackle people who try to use them. Also tablets
Avatar 4:35am Bill Mac:

@Guido I saw them warm up the crowd at a baseball game back in 71 or so. Probably my first show.
  4:36am KP:

Grass Roots but not the Grass Roots?
Avatar 4:36am Brian in UK:

I think Joe McGasko has got a Grass Roots track on his Premium!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:36am Stanley:

Tiny is what Tiny do.
Avatar 4:37am Brian in UK:

Stanley put some clothes on, right now.
Avatar 4:37am Jay/London:

it used to be lighters at gigs .. that looked cool but
smart phones .. i don't even take mine out at weekend or on holidays they can just leave a message
Avatar 4:38am Bill Mac:

@Brian You suck! I was gonna surprise you with yet another track track from his amaaaazing premium...
  4:38am KP:

When the Grass Roots first came out they were "hip" enough to play the Fillmore West, regularly.
Avatar 4:38am Brian in UK:

The Arthur Woods, better than The Ronald Woods.
Avatar 4:39am Brian in UK:

I am busting my sides, Bill. Love you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:40am Fran:

I honestly think there is a generation that if the internet was removed for a week or a smart phone was shut down they would possibly die of fear! Bring back Sunday School, jigsaws, encyclopedias, 'Why Don't You' and 'How!' to encourage brass rubbing, fossil collecting etc
Avatar 4:40am e12:

Good morning everybody.
  4:40am coalhard:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:41am Fran:

Here's an idea Jay - take a lighter and burn someone's smartphone?
Avatar 4:41am Bill Mac:

@Brina Oh I know what you're doing... love you too
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:41am Guido from Cologne:

Joe McGasko's premioum is gold!

  4:42am KP:

What a background to the Artwoods. They sound good too
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:42am Fran:

Yay Jay! I love the smell of burning smartphones in the morning!!
Avatar 4:42am Jay/London:

well Fran think i might start a riot if I did that ... nice idea
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:43am Guido from Cologne:

First seconds of Les terribles sonded like peter thomas soundtrack music.
Avatar 4:44am Brian in UK:

Avatar 4:44am Bill Mac:

@KP A listener from my Philly DJing days turned me on to them years ago. man when you start diving into the history of these man you realize how small a world the music community seems to be. Everyone's connected
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:44am Stanley:

Bring back the cane, that's what I say. Didn't do me any harm.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:45am Fran:

Bring back the iron maiden. Didn't do me any harm, just because I can't hold water anymore...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:46am Fran:

Stanley - the Woodcraft Folk running special detention camps would be good!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:47am Fran:

Sem - just don't bring back Iron Maiden!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:48am Guido from Cologne:

Les terribles:
Avatar 4:48am Sem Chumbo:

I especially enjoy their early acoustic stuff, Fran.
Avatar 4:48am Brian in UK:

Were Love originally called the Grass Roots then had to change because there was already a group with this name.
Avatar 4:49am Jay/London:

sounds like you want to turn the gig into a fetish place
Avatar 4:51am Brian in UK:

Bill, you need some Pete Frame Family Trees. His Zigzag magazine was the first and best.
  4:52am KP:

Brian that sounds familiar
  4:52am coalhard:

I'm making like a fetus and heading out would rather you push me back in ok
Avatar 4:53am Brian in UK:

Controlled breathing coalhard. You are ten centimetres engaged.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:54am Fran:

The only band allowed to make a career of farewell tours is Status Quo - that is actually a law!
Avatar 4:56am Bill Mac:

Do they ever NOT tour?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:59am Fran:

Only when searching for the lost chord Bill
  4:59am KP:

Brian you are right about Love
  5:02am KP:

PF Sloan co-wrote that song
Avatar 5:02am Brian in UK:

KP it was a dim and distant memory.
  5:04am KP:

My sister-in-law
  5:05am P-90:

Funny that Crimson comes up at this point, because Bob Fripp was vigorously fighting the uphill battle against rampant photography at concerts over 30 years ago. His concern was always the same as Kate Bush's: that the atmosphere this creates adversely affects the band's connection with the audience and the overall experience for both artists and patrons. There's an idea there also that if one respects a performer enough to purchase a ticket and take the time and effort to attend a show, one might pay some repect to the artist's request not to go crazy taking pictures instead of allowing the focus to remain on the live experience. Of course, now every 12 year old with a phone has a sophistcated still/video and sound recording device with him at all times.......Bob's pretty much had to give up on the cause. Still, if Kate wants to make her wishes known to her audience, it can only exert some positive influence on the situation, however slight the effect might be in the end.
  5:06am Jonathan Herweg:

Hey bill it's your fellow 3 to 6 am dj colleague , I'm not sure I'll be able to sleep until my show tomorrow at 3 am... How will I do it..??? 48 hours awake...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:07am Fran:

Gal Costa - whoohoo! Some of her early stuff is wild - a great track called Tuareg always does it for me! Steeleye Span soon? Hope it's not from their best forgotten glam years as Steeleye Spandex or their internet only album that nobody could download - Steeleye Spam.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:07am Guido from Cologne:

You know rRose Kemp?
Maddy Prior's and Rick kemp's daughter!
She does some great ... how shall i put it ... freak-folk-goth-doom-metal!
Great singer!
Seems to hibernate currently.
Avatar 5:07am Bill Mac:

Hey Jon good luck with that... is this your only option or can't you sleep?
  5:08am KP:

Avatar 5:11am Bill Mac:

@Guido Someone else I'll need to get an eye out for thanks
@Fran - I seem to remember someone pointed out a really sultry performance from Gals early days - from what I remember of it - wowsers
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:11am Fran:

P-90 - I think the main atmosphere at Kate Bush's concert will be expensive smelling perfumes and aftershaves sadly. I hope genuine fans are the main body of the crowd but I doubt it
  5:11am KP:

Guido! How are you. I unhibernated just to say hello
Avatar 5:12am Brian in UK:

I've paid MY money to see you so bugger off what you want bleedin' artiste. Just play the bluddy music and get off. They will be someone new on next week and you will be history. Wadda you mean short attention span, I've written this havn't I?
Avatar 5:12am Bill Mac:

@Jon - Should be a pretty interesting episode to tune into. I'm gassed now and I had a nice nap before I got in
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:14am Fran:

Bill - Gal made some amazing and wild early records - her more modern day 'supper club' act is sad in comparison!

Proper music for Market morning, Bill. Just finished loading the liver-killers...
  5:19am michael and Birgit:

He`s a long time runner in the music scene
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:19am Stanley:

I just looked up the price of a Kate Bush ticket £145!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:19am Fran:

KP - it won't be long before someone has the idea of a 42" phone screen so that you can take huge pictures, annoy more people...in High definition and provide employment for theatre interns (unpaid of course as is the modern British way) to hold the screen at either side so that you can luxuriate in the experience and maximise annoyance for those behind you
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:19am Guido from Cologne:

Avatar 5:20am Bill Mac:

@Stanley - Can you tell if it's a general admission ticket?
Avatar 5:20am Sem Chumbo:

The 42" hover-phone: the Kate Bush never can say goodbye edition.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:20am Guido from Cologne:

His best, from where do you have that?
(Debut on "Voice Of Lebanon") , but he is Egyptian actually)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:21am Fran:

£145 - alarmingly that seems cheap unless they have all these anti tout restrictions and its a risky buy
Avatar 5:22am Jay/London:

@ stanley heard the tickets sold out in 15 mins is that one on a site .... this track is great Bill
Avatar 5:22am Brian in UK:

Stanley, you can get a full inflatable for a monkey (that's slang for £500) or a pony (£25) with patches.
Avatar 5:22am Bill Mac:

Something else I came across on the Ipod - we gots vinyl
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:22am Guido from Cologne:

You MUST SEE the cover of the original LP !!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:23am Guido from Cologne:

Belly dance originally was for men! ... i heard somewhere!
Avatar 5:23am Sem Chumbo:

A pony with patches. Oh, the memories.
Avatar 5:24am Brian in UK:

Patches I'm depending on you son.
  5:24am P-90:

@ Stanley: That's in line with Boroadway/West End prices for musical theater etc, and less than top-price tickets at, for instance, any of the periodic Eagles' "farewell tours"...
  5:24am KP:

Bill I don't know the venue but it is reserved with various levels available on scalper market
Avatar 5:25am Sem Chumbo:

@Brian: HaHaaaaa.
Avatar 5:25am Bill Mac:

@Guido Lurve it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:25am Guido from Cologne:

The whole original album is great!
check the use of synthesizer in belly dance music of 1975
Avatar 5:25am Bill Mac:

I'm trying to recall the most money I ever spent on a show. 65 bucks for Tom Waits comes to mind.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:27am Fran:

Same for me - Tom Waits was my most pricey at £70
  5:27am KP:

Even @ pounds, I don't think that price is out line. People pay as much for horrendous Broadway shows. It's nothing to her audience
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:28am Fran:

KP - I would distinguish between audience and fans
Avatar 5:28am Brian in UK:

Hard to justify anything over £30. Never have so far.
  5:29am KP:

Quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten. My credo.
Avatar 5:29am Bill Mac:

@Fran - I think we paid well for Quo tix when they came to NYC 10 years ago,
Avatar 5:31am Brian in UK:

Michael Holding was a wonderful fast bowler from the West Indies, known as whispering death. A beautiful action and very fast.
Avatar 5:31am Sem Chumbo:

Though they don't know it, my amnesiac dipsomaniac customers await my arrival. See you later, Bill, and all, been some collection of fine spins this morning.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:31am Fran:

The Quo - I'm not sure they would cause too much of a ticket rush commotion nowadays
  5:31am KP:

I paid $175 each for World Cup tickets at Giants Stadium. List price.
Avatar 5:32am Brian in UK:

Take care Sem.
  5:33am P-90:

Have a good one Sem!
Avatar 5:33am Bill Mac:

Later Sem! Thanks for the jab!
  5:33am KP:

Rolling Stones at Giants Stadium, crappy seats, $125.
Avatar 5:35am Bill Mac:

Phillies 2008 World Series tix - $150 apiece I think. It rained for hours.
Avatar 5:35am Brian in UK:

Rolling Stones. Hyde Park. Free. Needed binoculars no drugs was only sixteen.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:36am Stanley:

Bill, everyone. Duty calls.
Its been a blast this morning.
Just a quick hit at that ol' pinata and I'm outa here.
Til next week.
Avatar 5:37am Bill Mac:

I saw the Who (1st farewell tour). I think those tickets were 50 a pop, which was about 45 bucks more than I wanted to pay. Remember watching Pete Townsend on a huge screen.
Avatar 5:37am Brian in UK:

Hold it firmly, Stanley. Need Coffee.
Avatar 5:38am Bill Mac:

@Stanley Has been as always. Take care of yourself - and yep - smack dat ass!
  5:39am KP:

I always wonder why people spend well over $100 for a dinner for two but draw line at concert tickets. Seeing a performer you love is kind of priceless
  5:39am P-90:

I don't think orchestra seats for any act at Radio City have been below $100 in a decade or so, at least as far back as the Emmylou Harris/Mark Knopfler show I saw there in 2002 or -03. Sometimes a lot more...
They wanted about that much a month or so ago for Yes- -without Jon Anderson! ( Or Wakeman either)
  5:41am KP:

Sports too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:43am Guido from Cologne:

I'm most happy with the middle sized shows, if good sight and good sound. Biggest problem is good sound though.
  5:43am P-90:

@ Bill M: "1st farewell tour" Haha
  5:46am KP:

Who was that
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:48am Fran:

Got to split - another cracker Bill and have a fine week folks!
  5:49am Falling_Angel:

I saw the Who and the Clash together at JFK Stadium in Philadelphia in 1982.
  5:50am KP:

Good club shows used to be the rule here. I was never crazy about theater type concerts, except the Fillmore East
  5:50am Falling_Angel:

When we our to our seats, someone had already thrown up on them.
  5:50am P-90:

@ Guido: Absolutely, the middle-size theaters are by far the best venues these days. And yes, sound can either be very, very good, or ridiculously poor.
  5:50am Falling_Angel:

He was still sitting there, half passed out.
Avatar 5:51am Brian in UK:

Nice one, Fran.
  5:52am KP:

I saw the happy jack who at Westbury music fair. Fourth row. Tix were probably $15.
Avatar 5:53am Brian in UK:

Great show, Bill. This tune is very familiar.
  5:53am Falling_Angel:

But saw David Bowie at the Cap Center in DC right around the same time, and he really did make the arena concept work.
  5:54am KP:

Bill was that the "Who on Ice" tour. I've seen them maybe 16 times
  5:54am P-90:

I think we forget a little bit these days just how utterly wasted and rowdy people routinely got at shows in the 70s - 80s
Avatar 5:55am Bill Mac:

Hey all, awesome speaks all around gald to see KP here for the dooration. Never got to see Bowie, should have caught him during his Philly residency but he was doing the soul thing... ehhhhh....
Avatar 5:55am Brian in UK:

@P-90 well you could smoke for a start.
  5:56am KP:

That might be included a couple of Townshend solo shows
  5:56am KP:

See ya, Bill, Guido
  5:56am Falling_Angel:

Did not like slam dancing at all!
  5:57am KP:

No interest in Bowie
  5:57am KP:

Avatar 5:57am Brian in UK:

@KP he speaks very highly of you.
  5:59am P-90:

Thanks, Bill. Drive careful now, none of your "Fast and Furious " stunts on the way home
Avatar 6:00am Jay/London:

thanks bill maybe love next week
Avatar 6:04am beavoux:

Bed music loop?
Avatar 6:06am beavoux:
