Street interviews, listener call-ins, vinyl gluttery, sporadic normalcy, original floperas and fiktion, blatant talking over songs, politix, tenderness, and a vague undercurrent of angst. Right up your alley!

Unfortunately, I had to leave Zuccotti to attend to other obligations on the day this show was taped. Later that evening, the NYPD invaded the park and made many arrests. It was, however, an inspiring day and one sensed a renewal of energy in the movement.
Just prior to completing this episode, I heard a march going past our loft. I ran out with my micro-cassette recorder and joined the march as it proceeded to Times Square. The march was part of the Million Hoodie March, commemorating and protesting what many believe to be the unjust death of Trayvon Martin in Sanford, FLA. Here is a link that explains the case in detail:

Thanks for listening to this episode of The Dusty Show. I hope you enjoyed it. I had a lot of audio-footage to edit down ... almost three hours of it. Lately, I've been wondering if I should add the extra stuff to the podcast? Something to ponder.

The six-month anniversary was a moving event to witness. Though it may have lacked some of the visceral power of early-Occupy days at the Zuccotti encampment, there was still a sense of renewed energy in the air. The NYPD seemed to be making a statement of their own as well, so it ill be interesting and crucial to see how it all plays out in the months ahead. I'll follow it when I can, trying to tap into the feeling of the moment ... Doccupying, as it were. Hopefully you'll make the trip with me. I'm sure they'll be interesting developments. There always are. Until next time. Take care. Always Remember.

Occupy 1/2 anniversary!
  6:06pm kata:

howdy Clay and everybody

Present and accounted for
  6:07pm Matt from Springfield:

Howdy kata! Caryn!
Clay, come onnnnnnn downnnnn!
  6:08pm Matt from Springfield:

Wait, (check) NOW you're accounted for!

"Stay strong, smoke weed." In THAT order, everybody. :)
Avatar 6:08pm Clay:

Glad you are here. Advanced warning ... this show is all audio footage from Zuccotti ... no music. My preferred format is a mix of music and live audio, but I had so much tape this time, I edited it all into an hour of anniversary. Next week ... music. Maybe.
Avatar 6:10pm Clay:

Didn't get to include my 5 new Flea Market Finds! Also March 12th 4-hour Dusty ... filling in for Fabio.
  6:10pm Caryn:

Well, the chant is very rhythmic and almost musical, so no worries Clay!
Avatar 6:11pm Clay:

TY Caryn. Hope life in Finland is fantastic and that you have a roof over your head.
  6:12pm Corporate Media:

Don't humanize that woman! Show 4 second clip of her screaming her ass off, and cut back to anchor! Don't let her explain her grievances like that!
  6:12pm kata:

Hey you guys and gals, I watched "The F Word" last week -- anyone seen it ? Clay, you should watch it, it's basically about YOU ! :) ..with coverage of RNC in 2004. It's not as interesting than your coverage actually, but interesting how similar occupy's gist is to the RNC protests.
  6:13pm Caryn:

Thanks, Clay! Life not necessarily fantastic, but the more anti-woman ridiculousness comes out of GOP mouths, the happier I am to be living over here.
  6:13pm Matt from Springfield:

@Caryn: What's kind of astounding is the strong mental continuity: all the way from the first OWS gatherings in September, to Occupy Congress in January, to the present. The core chants have remained, and remain popular and strong!
  6:14pm Matt from Springfield:

@Caryn: Are you working again?
  6:14pm Matt from Springfield:

Berkeley Free Speecher! She goes back to '64!
Avatar 6:16pm Clay:

I'll try and catch it, Kata. Sounds interesting.
aryn, glad things are OK with you.
  6:16pm trolly mctrollerson:

occulay pig-str99t% again?
Avatar 6:17pm Clay:

THis councilman got arrested and beaten up later, according to news reports I read today.
  6:17pm Matt from Springfield:

@Clay: Music may be lacking in this episode, but I had an idea today called "Clay's Quarters": 15 minutes of your 4 usual topics, interspersed through the episode! 15 minutes Occupy audio, 15 other man on the street interviews, 15 radio drama, and 15 of vinyl exhumation!

Kind of like old-school staccato Sesame Street, Pidge style!
  6:18pm Matt from Springfield:

@Clay: And don't mind trolly, he's a regular troll!
Avatar 6:18pm Clay:

I liked the last couple of shows Matt. With some music. I just get caught up in it, you know? I'll keep working on it. Thanks for your input.
Avatar 6:19pm Clay:

More committed than ever, Matt.
  6:19pm Caryn:

@Matt: too true. And a nice counter to the "OWS has no clear message" argument.
Have had a few short jobs (election official, translations etc.), but no actual permanent job. But keep looking... Occasionally get too stressed. Yesterday, started weeping in the insurance company office because I can't get health insurance and my premiums just doubled. (Have fallen into a pattern of stress-induced weeping whenever money is discussed. Ugh.)
  6:19pm Matt from Springfield:

Speaking of music, did you notice Evan "Funk" Davies played Atomic Rooster last night? :)
  6:20pm G:

trolly mctrollerson again?
Avatar 6:21pm Clay:

Oh, man. I love Atomic Rooster. I need 3-hours. maybe this summer. Trolly gives us balance. Can't preach to the choir all the time.
  6:21pm Matt from Springfield:

My heart goes out to you Caryn. Temp jobs are so stress you out.
Sounds like Finland's going American, and not in a good way :(
  6:22pm glenn:

don't them damn stinky hippies got jobs yet?
  6:22pm Matt from Springfield:

When Irene or other 3-hour hosts take a week off, get on their shortlists! Many opportunities in summer!
Avatar 6:22pm Clay:

Haha. Hello Glenn. Good 2cu
  6:23pm Caryn:

Well, we do have a right-wing majority, PM and president now. Of course, "right-wing" here is very different from "right-wing" there.
  6:23pm Matt from Springfield:

@glenn: Those dirty hippies need to get jobs!

Course I won't give them jobs, they're dirty hippies!
  6:24pm glenn:

if i ever meet clay, i'm going to pretend i'm somebody else, just so he doesn't ask me if i like rush.
Avatar 6:25pm Clay:

I know Glenn. My instinct is to ask if they love Lorne Green, but I'd be dating myself (even more).
  6:25pm Caryn:

Well, now Clay will have to ask everyone if they like Rush, just so he can catch you out...
  6:25pm Matt from Springfield:

@Caryn: Most true, but Finland's also in the Eurozone. Austerity and stress throughout all the countries--I supported the Euro project until I realized how strict it is managed, even in economic crisis. At least the Federal Reserve can release money as needed.
  6:26pm Matt from Springfield:

DAMN IT MONSANTO!! When will you go away??!!
Avatar 6:26pm Clay:

Is Rush big in Finland Caryn, or is it all Aha and Roxette?
  6:27pm glenn:

the next time you meet a newfie, just tell them you love stompin' tom connors. you'll be their friend forever.
  6:28pm Matt from Springfield:

Any Parsnippity [sp?] listeners in the house?! :)
  6:28pm Caryn:

Yeah, in everyday use, the Euro made some things, like travel, easier. But when a crisis hits, the bad side is massive.
  6:28pm miss cheri:

hi there clay..this would a TERRIFIC idea to have mila kunis on your show,,it'll be a great ratings sweeper!!!! what do you think clay?
Avatar 6:29pm Clay:

Newfie = Newfoundland? Cool. Stompin' Tom. Thanks for the tip Glenn.
  6:29pm Matt from Springfield:

@glenn: Whoooo.....? Well, if I ever make it to Gros Morne National Park for a summer trip, I'll be sure to remember that!
Avatar 6:30pm Clay:

Mila Kunis. She is all the rage presently. I liked her in Black Swan. I wish she would come on. I am going to try and interview the singer of The Joy Formidable next week.
  6:30pm Caryn:

@Clay: heh, I'm sure all 3 have their fans, but I don't think any of those would be in the top 30 or even 50 bands in the world if you asked the entire populace.
  6:33pm Caryn:

Cheri's love of Mila Kunis continues... She's very self-conscious about singing, though, so if you do ever have her on, you might have to do all the singing, Clay. But maybe she'll dance along?
  6:33pm miss cheri:

clay--have you ever seen "freinds with benefits"? it's really a wonderful movie!! i love mila kunis,,,
Avatar 6:34pm Clay:

I kind of want to see that new Sci-Fi flick with Lenny Kravitz in it. Tip - great sci-fi movie ..... Phase IV .... about ants. Art direction by Saul Bass. Love it x 1000
  6:36pm Matt from Springfield:

3D audio--it's like being there.
Avatar 6:36pm Clay:

Haven't seen it Miss Cheri. Isn't that Ashton Kutcher in that one?
  6:36pm Caryn:

"Phase IV" is great, Clay! And yeah, I think you'll like the themes of "Hunger Games". Though I'd recommend the books for a less PG depiction of the world.
Avatar 6:36pm Clay:

Matt ... and with all that $29 Radio Shack micro-cassette fidelity!
Avatar 6:37pm Clay:

Caryn, you and Cecile are like Mensas. In fact, all you guys are smarter than whips.
  6:37pm miss cheri:

no clay,, justin timberlake
  6:37pm Caryn:

Ashton Kutcher was in the similarly themed, but not as good, movie with Natalie Portman. "Friends with Benefits" is the one with Justin Timberlake.
Avatar 6:38pm Clay:

This hour is going too fast.

Sometimes I think ... wow ... look at all these comments, and then I realize that 59% of them are MINE.
  6:38pm Average FMU Listener:

I would feel really weird if I went on the comments board of dozens of FMU shows for weeks in a row and just asked DJs general questions about the one same actress over and over. I'd feel totally stalkery, on multiple levels. Just sayin.
Avatar 6:38pm Clay:

I love that song about bringing sexy back.
  6:40pm Caryn:

I think a crooked cop expects more than 5 bucks for doing anything...
Avatar 6:40pm Clay:

I am on there all the time under fake names. I feel some measure of shame about the addiction.
  6:40pm miss cheri:

clay & caryn---i'd do anything just to meet mila kunis!
  6:41pm Matt from Springfield:

WTC "truthers" -- that and some anti-Zionists are the only real problems that congregate at Occupy sites -- but we're all about letting everyone speak their voice. Hopefully their ideas will marginalize themselves.
Avatar 6:41pm Clay:

What would you say to her, Cheri?
  6:42pm kata:

I love Saul Bass!
  6:43pm Matt from Springfield:

@Clay: You use different monikers too? Make sure you "sign" your comments with a common email address; Julie has said there are Clay trolls lurking in the comments boards, claiming to be you! The DJ will at least know if it's really you, that way!
Avatar 6:44pm Clay:

I bet you wanted that song to keep going.

@Kata ... me too ... at least, what I know of him.
  6:45pm Marmalade kitty:

another great show, Clay!!
  6:45pm Oddsmaker:

If Cheri met Mila Kunis, she'd either plotz, or pull a Chapman.
Avatar 6:45pm Clay:

If I wasn't "on" FMU, I'd be a really annoying fan, instead of being a really annoying DJ!
  6:45pm miss cheri:

clay i would tell her that she's the best actress in the world and ask her for her autograph,,,
Avatar 6:46pm Clay:

Marmz!!! Wondered where you were.
  6:46pm Dan B From Upstate:

Clay, is there any chance you'll give up one of your names so we can be all, "Wow... that was Clay this whole time!"
Avatar 6:46pm Clay:

It's nice to really admire someone Cheri. I hope you get to meet her one day.
Avatar 6:47pm Clay:

One of them is Whopper Sr., Dan.
  6:48pm Dan B From Upstate:

Nice! :D
Avatar 6:48pm Clay:

I'd use my real name, but then it would seem like I couldn't get enough attention (which, sadly, I can't!).
  6:49pm glenn:

average fmu listener, the general consensus is that cheri's batshit crazy.
  6:49pm miss cheri:

well clay thnx for your time i got to head out now,,i'll see you soon,,,iy's been fun.. bye clay & caryn!!
  6:50pm Matt from Springfield:

Wow, Occupy Spring AND St. Pat's!! Crazy day in Manhattan, now I wish I was there!
  6:50pm Caryn:

Now I'm going to be thrilled whenever I see that moniker, Clay!

And just to give Cheri her daily fix: http://www.tomandlorenzo.com/2011/07/mila-kunis-and-justin-timberlake-for-elle.html
  6:50pm miss cheri:

Avatar 6:51pm Clay:

Since I know Andy will be along soon, I'll take this opportunity to say thanks to you for your continued loyalty and support. I appreciate the fact that you've listened and I hope you keep doing so. These AccuPlaylist exchanges are really fun.
  6:51pm Fredericks:

African slaves had there drums taken away. Their captors feared communication
  6:51pm Average FMU Listener:

@glenn: Yes, and I was worried Clay was being taken advantage of, and is such a nice guy he might put up with it, but he's definitely turned it into lemonade. :-)
Avatar 6:51pm Clay:

  6:52pm kata:

glenn you crack me up
  6:52pm miss cheri:

  6:53pm Average FMU Listener:

CAPtain Clay :-)
  6:55pm kata:

I am also a comment board addict, and it got me in mildly hot water a couple days ago.
  6:55pm miss cheri:

before i go,, clay & caryn do you like "family guy"?
  6:55pm Average FMU Listener:

it's happened to everyone, kata. live and learn :-)
  6:55pm glenn:

Avatar 6:56pm Clay:

Yes, Caryn.
Avatar 6:56pm Clay:

Take care, everyone. Always remember.
  6:56pm Caryn:

@cheri: yes, although it's not quite as good nowadays as it used to be. But then again, the same tends to happen to most shows.
  6:57pm kata:

baptism by fire :)
  6:57pm Fredericks:

But I just got here, Clay.
  6:57pm Caryn:

"real suspicious guy" = black
"looks like he's on drugs" = black in a hoodie
That's basically Zimmermann in a nutshell.
  6:58pm Matt from Springfield:

*Electric* show!
Keep up your strong efforts, Clay!
  6:58pm kata:

glenn: see Chris T's show this week. Ugh. Ly.. regret. I think I was in a bad mood that day.
