Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Can we just all agree that police officer is among those jobs in which you don't get to make a mistake? Others: airline pilot, brain surgeon, anything involving the protection and innocence of children. If it requires higher pay to lock this in, so be it. Although some police, such as those in Suffolk County, NY, make well into six-figures.

Hey Pedro, yes, and because of that they should be held to a high standard, and their mistakes shouldn't fall predominantly on one group of people. i have sympathy for them and understand that they are human and subject to fear and prejudice and all kinds of things but too many of the same cops are allowed to repeatedly make mistakes

my dad stumbled on Tull and brought home a steady stream of their albums. I inherited them and then passed them on to WFMU when I dumped all of my vinyl...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39pm Phillippe Bastille:

Capitol building on lockdown after a reported shooting. Jesus, what is happening to this country?
Avatar 1:40pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

May not have found myself going to Tull as a listening choice in - several decades. But never really had a problem with them. & more recently Stang on the Hour of Slack put 'My God' in a playlist - & yerknow - it's great. That stuff used to mean something to me...
Avatar 1:40pm still b/p:

At first few notes, I thought, oh, a different version of Diamond Ring. What a good idea and I bet it's good. And now it don't disappoint.
Avatar 1:40pm Lewis:

Phillippe - as in The Capitol? ugghhhh
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm Uncle Michael:

This is the original.
  1:41pm dan:

@Lewis
My dad swears by the first 4 albums as the best era of Tull. Especially, "Benefit". We saw Tull in 2008 at Jones Beach during their 40th anniversary and the bulk of the show were from the early years.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42pm Uncle Michael:

I'm pretty much with dan's dad.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42pm Phillippe Bastille:

@Lewis yes. Looks like they are saying now someone rammed through the gates, no shooting but two officers hit by car
Avatar 1:43pm StringOFperils:

Wait, THE Capitol? I though you meant the Capitol Records building....hope I have this wrong/right....brb
Avatar 1:44pm Lewis:

@Phillippe - thanks! I maintain a virtual news blackout during the week due to the negative effects on both my productivity and mood.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm Phillippe Bastille:

@Lewis I need to do more of that news blackout thing...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm Uncle Michael:

This might be one of those "seemed like a good idea at the time" playlist inclusions. Those never last forever.
Avatar 1:48pm StringOFperils:

Ok, no more news for me, for say, 12 hours or so...yeesh
Avatar 1:48pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Fine Philly Sound track - not necessarily my wheelhouse - but I already know my wheelhouse !...
  1:48pm prudy:

UM...have enjoyed the whole show...
Avatar 1:49pm Lewis:

@RR and hence you are an FMU listener!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm Uncle Michael:

you people are the best
Avatar 1:50pm still b/p:

Interesting to try peering at where the line is set (by whom?) between conventional 70s R&B and Smooth Jazz. Squinting.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52pm Uncle Michael:

Ask Roy Ayres.

...though naive me is now thinking I fell for an April Fools joke. I believed Volkswagen as well...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm Uncle Michael:

VW boofed that prank by leaking it days early.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15pm Phillippe Bastille:

@UM apparently it might get them in trouble with the SEC (the gov't oversight people, not the football conference)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm Uncle Michael:

Tuff Sunshine (Johnny Leitera) past guest on the show.
Avatar 2:19pm StringOFperils:

I fell for that Sheena's prank yesterday, for a minute, because I've seen good radio go horribly commercial overnight before. It left me totally depressed for the rest of the day. Heh. Well done, you crazy DADA anarchists.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm Phillippe Bastille:

Dang, there was something else I could've been fooled by yesterday? I'm spending too much valuable time watching reruns of Guy's Grocery Games...
Avatar 2:23pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm Doug Schulkind:

Mr. Science sounds unnervingly like Lindsey Graham.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm Phillippe Bastille:

  2:29pm dan:

Any takers?
Avatar 2:41pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

It hurts to think how long ago 1991-7 is.
  2:42pm dan:

Is that Bruce Hornsby on this recording? It's around the time he was with the Dead.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm Uncle Michael:

I'd have to check but I think Bruce on piano and Vince Welnick on the other keys.
  2:44pm prudy:
