And so glad we get to here more about Sheila B divesting from the social media industrial complex!
Yo, ultradamno! Happy Marathon!
(Sorry to spoil the reveal -- I didn't realize it was a secret. Gah.)
Yaaaaay, Sheila!
We have proselytized Techtonic, Sophisticated Boom Boom, and Marty McSorley to pretty much everyone we know over and over now. Bringing the passion!
Mark's being on Twitter is literally the last pathetic self-justification I can use in the dark reaches of the night for not having nuked my Gmail account yet.
I am *happy* to send in what I can so that Techtonic can keep going out over the airwaves. I value it more than I even know how to say. Same for all of WFMU, but Techtonic feels like a secret defender, always in my corner, telling me that it's OK to stay angry, to stay skeptical, to keep insisting there are other ways.
Thank you, Mark. Thank you, WFMU.
Wishing the Monopolies could be broken - so a competitor may be more transparent - & serve us better too. A pipe dream. But nothing is impossible...
Here ya go, J Boogie: www.wfmu.org...
Sheila's show is fan-damn-tastic! Check it out if you don't know it and pledge to both!
Yo, Peter! I can tell you I know Sheila is a fan of Bandcamp.

- as I often have - & it's nothing new for this Program. But - it's a great talk about what the business models of the biggest tech giant monopolies are - & even what *should* be done abut it.
I don't have "friends" on Fakebook that I don't, or wouldn't have in life. So hope they wouldn't plagiarize me. Don't think they'd wanna claim my stuff as there own anyway. 😉
Rev Rab: they sold us a bill of good and stole it. But we can keep telling them to give it back.
Always: not in our names.
Imagine if we find out that Matt W's echo machine has been recording us *all along*!
Great team-up, Mark and Sheila! Even better than Spider-man and Colossus!
Quake, O ye forces of oppression, coercion, surveillance, and capital! For the double-headed beast of awareness has awakened on WFMU, and it knows what you've been up to!
Be well, friends. Stay mad.
She copied a photo of a dance I had made in agreement with the choreographer and dancers; she made my photo into a painting, Everything inc the edge of the frame- hands toward edge, exact same clothing, lighting and hair bounce. She did change the skin tone and used the medium of paint. The choreographer felt violated too. We sought legal advice and did not have the $ to pursue. Though there was a chance we would have won, I'm sort of known in this small scene.
LYB "found it on the internet" so "It's mine" LY-B always says she makes paintings from her imagination" on her gallery site and in interview's in NYT et al .
I and choreographer understand art stuff- about homage, appropriation , collaboration etc. This outright stealing with the artist yakking about her imagination was/is, can u tell? infuriating.
A copyright lawyer told me to never post on Instagram. I never have. and won't
@Webhamster Henry nice. Neil Postman helped me to turn off the T.V for good in 2014/2015
