Upcoming events:

Saturday, July 30th, 6pm - 9pm: Democratoz - Powerful roots, rock and rai tinged reggae from Algeria

Dynamic Algerian seven-piece Democratoz, from Oran, the country's cultural capital, is at its essence a reggae band. But their music draws on elements of Oran's famous rai music as well as other pop and traditional styles from the Maghreb, sub-Saharan African music, rock, and more. They're also inspired by classic reggae's (often) socially conscious lyrical spirit. Democratoz wraps up their first US tour, supported by NEFA and the US State Department's cultural exchange initiative Center Stage, with several dates in California through August 5th. And they make their first-ever full-band radio appearance right here on WFMU!
