Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50pm

easy like how?
  3:54pm
Dean:

The backstory, I suppose, is that everybody in my crowd at the time loved JT, but I couldn't get over the prancing around and mugging and breathy flute, so I just gave up on the band. Yet I wanted to appreciate what everybody was raving about. As the albums emerged, I found less and less to admire at all. But with several decades of distance I now hear them more clearly.

aqualung was the first time i heard jethro tull, age 10-11, and i instantly loved it; but all of their subsequent releases were at least a slight disappointment. a few years later, when i explored the first 3, and "living in the past", i fell in love with those too. i never got sick of aqualung though. I saw Tull at The Spectrum in Philly in '79 (?). It was to support some album about Northern Seas Oil or some nonsense. I felt silly sitting there. I just wanted to hear an extended drum solo. The fusion-y prog-y band UK opened. John Wetton, Eddie Jobson and Terry Bozzio.
