Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 9/17/18 9:29am Pedro in Arlington:

Always thought it was brilliant that a guy named Cat had a song called "I Love My Dog." There's a great live version on YouTube from French TV. Keep the Cat coming.

Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 9/17/18 9:31am Roberto:

I didn't understand that lyric for the longest time -- "you're still young, that's your fault" -- how can it be one's fault how young one is?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 9/17/18 9:31am Aaron Working In Newark:

Nice Start Joe
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 9/17/18 9:32am Hughie Considine:

@Roberto, that was "Father" speaking ... you know how dads can be.

Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 9/17/18 9:34am Krys O.:

Cat's brother gave him a copy of the Quran when Cat was ill.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 9/17/18 9:34am Vincent Nifigance:

Joe, you played a song called 'You Can Do (Whatever)' from recent album The Laughing Apple a few months back that was great (sounded a lot like Cat).
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 9/17/18 9:35am Hughie Considine:

Can't believe First Cut Is the Deepest didn't find its way onto the Sharp Objects soundtrack...too on the nose?
  Mon. 9/17/18 9:36am Peter Horvath:

Hi Joe, you can’t mention The Koobas without playing some Koobas!
  Mon. 9/17/18 9:37am Dennis Diken:

hey Joe! saw Cat Stevens at MSG in '74, great show. the stage was covered with a type of a tent and he didn't sell seats behind the stage, which I thought was classy. I played a festival in Madrid with Ronnie Spector in June and we went on right after PP Arnold. she was outasite!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 9/17/18 9:38am adampsyche:

damn joe i never really realized how soothing your voice is. perfect for entering the workin' week.

Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 9/17/18 9:40am melinda:

Is there actually a harold and Maude soundtrack out there? I think all of the songs are available on various albums, but you never see a soundtrack album.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 9/17/18 9:40am Jeezy:

Did anyone hear that crazy electro track that Duane played that was a B-side for Cat Stevens in the 70's? Apparently it's a hugely influential track for early hiphop... Cat just whipped it off in the studio one day in the 70's. Chick Corea played a bit on it.
Swag For Life Member Mon. 9/17/18 9:41am tadpoles:

Cat as Yusef Islam covered the Animals "Don't let Me Be Misunderstood" to answer all the naysayers. I always loved "Matthew & Son".
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 9/17/18 9:41am steveo:

I found it on Discogs, Melinda. $300 and up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 9/17/18 9:43am Joe McG:

Why, thanks, adampsyche! @melinda: It's rare and pricey, as steveo found out. @Jeezy: I forget the name, but it's amazing, that one! @Dennis: Hope you didn't mind me sharing your comment on the air!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 9/17/18 9:43am Vincent Nifigance:

Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 9/17/18 9:44am Vincent Nifigance:

Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 9/17/18 9:44am Booz:

I adore PP Arnold. Srsly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 9/17/18 9:46am Hughie Considine:

I always love it when a one-named singer goes by a fairly ordinary name, like Marion. Or Keith of "98.6" fame.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 9/17/18 9:46am The Oscar:

I saw Harold & Maude last year in an outdoor screening at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Boston, as a double feature with The Seventh Seal. Needless to say, it was amazing.
  Mon. 9/17/18 9:48am Dennis Diken:

not at all Joe!
Mon. 9/17/18 9:51am judy from croton:

Such a wonderful show, joe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 9/17/18 9:51am melinda:

@steveo wow, makes sense that it would exist but but be pricey, since you never see it in real life. @Oscar I'm jealous
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 9/17/18 9:57am Joe McG:

Thanks, judy and Roger!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 9/17/18 10:00am melinda:

Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 9/17/18 10:49am Brian in UK:

Mike Nesmith song?
  Mon. 9/17/18 10:50am Brendan:

'Baby on the Street' made me think of a Dave Chapelle story. He recalled the time he went with a friend who was buying weed in SE DC in the wee hrs. His friend left Dave in the car alone while he was transacting business. Dave nervously looked out the car window checking his surroundings, and saw a baby in diaper standing on the street corner at 3 am . That's when he new he was in a tough neighborhood. There may have been something about the baby having a cigarette.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 9/17/18 10:50am Phillippe Bastille:

This dude sounds a little too tired to me
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 9/17/18 10:50am Joe McG:

Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 9/17/18 10:52am Brian in UK:

Glad you said it, Joe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 9/17/18 10:52am Krys O.:

Brendan, I watched that Chappelle special recently. The baby was selling weed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 9/17/18 10:53am Joe McG:

@Brian: I generally like them, but let's face it, no matter how adorable they are, they really could've tuned it up a bit.

I've always thought of Hank Williams as the Doctor Who of country-- each iteration is distinct and emblematic of his own subgenre (though, like so much in life, this theory would be better if Hank Williams Jr. was dead).
