![]() PP is the queen of best versions (see also "Angel of the Morning") |

![]() Always thought it was brilliant that a guy named Cat had a song called "I Love My Dog." There's a great live version on YouTube from French TV. Keep the Cat coming. |

I didn't understand that lyric for the longest time -- "you're still young, that's your fault" -- how can it be one's fault how young one is? |

Mon. 9/17/18 9:34am

Joe, you played a song called 'You Can Do (Whatever)' from recent album The Laughing Apple a few months back that was great (sounded a lot like Cat). |
![]() |
![]() Can't believe First Cut Is the Deepest didn't find its way onto the Sharp Objects soundtrack...too on the nose? |

Hi Joe, you can’t mention The Koobas without playing some Koobas!
Mon. 9/17/18 9:37am
Dennis Diken:
hey Joe! saw Cat Stevens at MSG in '74, great show. the stage was covered with a type of a tent and he didn't sell seats behind the stage, which I thought was classy. I played a festival in Madrid with Ronnie Spector in June and we went on right after PP Arnold. she was outasite!
![]() |
![]() damn joe i never really realized how soothing your voice is. perfect for entering the workin' week. |
![]() |
![]() McGasko is mellifluous on Mondays ... |
![]() |
![]() joe and olivia ravioli need to just read us the paper every morning, alternating stories. |
![]() |
![]() Is there actually a harold and Maude soundtrack out there? I think all of the songs are available on various albums, but you never see a soundtrack album. |
![]() |
![]() Did anyone hear that crazy electro track that Duane played that was a B-side for Cat Stevens in the 70's? Apparently it's a hugely influential track for early hiphop... Cat just whipped it off in the studio one day in the 70's. Chick Corea played a bit on it. |
Mon. 9/17/18 9:41am
tadpoles:
Cat as Yusef Islam covered the Animals "Don't let Me Be Misunderstood" to answer all the naysayers. I always loved "Matthew & Son".

![]() I adore PP Arnold. Srsly. |
![]() |
![]() I always love it when a one-named singer goes by a fairly ordinary name, like Marion. Or Keith of "98.6" fame. |
![]() |
![]() I saw Harold & Maude last year in an outdoor screening at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Boston, as a double feature with The Seventh Seal. Needless to say, it was amazing. |

Mike Nesmith song? |
Mon. 9/17/18 10:50am
Brendan:
'Baby on the Street' made me think of a Dave Chapelle story. He recalled the time he went with a friend who was buying weed in SE DC in the wee hrs. His friend left Dave in the car alone while he was transacting business. Dave nervously looked out the car window checking his surroundings, and saw a baby in diaper standing on the street corner at 3 am . That's when he new he was in a tough neighborhood. There may have been something about the baby having a cigarette.
![]() |
Mon. 9/17/18 10:50am
Phillippe Bastille:
This dude sounds a little too tired to me |
![]() |
Mon. 9/17/18 10:50am

Mon. 9/17/18 10:52am

Glad you said it, Joe. |
![]() |
![]() Brendan, I watched that Chappelle special recently. The baby was selling weed. |

@Brian: I generally like them, but let's face it, no matter how adorable they are, they really could've tuned it up a bit. |

@BiUK 11:01: was probably an ectomorph from the git go, his diet of speed and likker wouldn't have changed that, I don't think. |
![]() |
![]() hey Joe Mac: what's shakin'? |
![]() |
![]() Sem/Biuk - Youve seen Hank III right? Ectomophing seems to have skipped a generation, just like talent |

Mon. 9/17/18 11:17am
Sem:
Tyler, you're killin' me here. No, haven't had the pleasure (?) but now off to his website. No big thing... |
![]() |
![]() I've always thought of Hank Williams as the Doctor Who of country-- each iteration is distinct and emblematic of his own subgenre (though, like so much in life, this theory would be better if Hank Williams Jr. was dead). |
![]() |
![]() Morning Joe! Mario nailed this one--sounds fantastic! |
