From the Dept. of Pedantic Corrections: Dan Bodah is in for Rich next Sat. (perceived by most as late Fri. night), not "this" Sat., per the Upcoming page. "This" Sat. is tomorrow. Isn't it? Wait, what day is it?

Happy Miniature New Year @ Dj Kurt and all Minotaureadors. Got back a little while ago from one of those frustrating/satisfying/frustrating Genius Bar encounters, enjoying Szechuan shredded beef with garlic sauce, brown rice, and today's aural stimulation (which is dope, Dude)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 1/2/15 3:37pm common:

vp! all yooos!
  Fri. 1/2/15 3:40pm P-90:

Awwww, shit! Elly May? No! Noooooooooooo!
Donna Douglas, THAT Elly May?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 1/2/15 3:49pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Elly May was good with animals, like Fairchild the bear. She would whup Jethro with one hand and she had a string of suitors with funny names like Bolt Upright. RIP
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 1/2/15 3:52pm common:

rip indeed, elly.
  Fri. 1/2/15 3:56pm Miguel:

That's some heavy shit you are playing there, Kurt! Oh, were playing. You okay?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 1/2/15 3:57pm Ken From Hyde Park:

She also landed the gig for closing Rex's show on Saturdays with the line "This has been a Filmways presentation!"
  Fri. 1/2/15 3:59pm P-90:

Last week, Joe Cocker. Now Elly May, OUR Elly May...
And I was having such a nice afternoon.
  Fri. 1/2/15 4:00pm P-90:

I think it's Frankie O'Toole's show that closes with the "Filmways" tag?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 1/2/15 4:02pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Zats...you're probably right about that, P-90. Rex's show has the line about the wing-ding.
Avatar Fri. 1/2/15 4:02pm still b/p:

We'll float paper lanterrns in the ceement pond.
Avatar Fri. 1/2/15 4:04pm northguineahills:

  Fri. 1/2/15 4:06pm Dean:

@Ken From Hyde Park: Which Hyde Park? Chicago?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 1/2/15 4:08pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@Dean - FDR's Hyde Park in New York state.
  Fri. 1/2/15 4:09pm Dean:

@KFHP: Got it. Was curious, as I'll be in Chicago in late March, and I'm looking for a venue, e.g., Empty Bottle, where I can catch some live music.
  Fri. 1/2/15 4:09pm P-90:

Yeah, Donna had that way of saying "see-men pond"
--*wistful sigh*
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 1/2/15 4:09pm common:

@dean: empty bottle is great!
  Fri. 1/2/15 4:12pm Dean:

@common: Yeah, I caught Vandermark there when I was last in town, but I don't think there's anything going on the nights I'll be there. And I'm always interested in new venues.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 1/2/15 4:13pm common:

Avatar Fri. 1/2/15 4:23pm northguineahills:

Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 1/2/15 4:26pm common:

@dean: in many different bands from my past. bedwetter, low numbers and swisher. always a fun time! the 90s.
  Fri. 1/2/15 4:29pm Dean:

Low Numbers? The Rhino outfit? I do believe I have (one of) their 7"(es).
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 1/2/15 4:31pm common:

@dean: naw. nobody really knew about us. we put out 1 7" and toured a lot. i remember seeing that there was another low numbers.
Avatar Fri. 1/2/15 4:32pm BigLankyGeordie:

Frantzl new to me but seeking them out now! I love WFMU! ;-)
  Fri. 1/2/15 4:34pm Dean:

They were '70s, a punk parody band that attracted some attention in Southern California. The connection to Rhino Records (pre-reissue empire) no doubt helped.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 1/2/15 4:36pm common:

@dean: good to know. i never listened.
Avatar Fri. 1/2/15 4:45pm BigLankyGeordie:

if you like this fennesz track try Venice - magical stuff
  Fri. 1/2/15 4:48pm Dean:

Try, too, the Polwechsel album featuring Fennesz, Wrapped Islands. Brings us back to Burkhard Stangl.
Avatar Fri. 1/2/15 4:48pm northguineahills:

yeah, Venice and Black Sea are amazing Fennesz recs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 1/2/15 4:48pm Kurt Gottschalk:

i adore polwechsel - every record, every lineup.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 1/2/15 4:50pm steve:

heavy set, this
  Fri. 1/2/15 4:50pm Dean:

Same here. Love 'em. Closest I got to hearing them was a late show at Tonic w/ Stangl and Dafeldecker (IIRC). Of course, I've heard Butcher in a lineup or two, but not with Polwechsel, dammit.
Avatar Fri. 1/2/15 4:52pm Webhamster Henry:
