![]() Good morning Dave! I was nine years old in 1996. That was fun, mostly, if I remember correctly. |
![]() |
![]() Good morning Dave, guten TZAG everybody |
![]() |
![]() Good Morning Hark, Fred, & Listeners everywhere! 1996 I was infinite. |
![]() |
![]() Good morning Dave, guten TZAG everybody! |
![]() |
![]() @HarktheUmpire: By 1996 I was already working and had given up too things for good: wearing ties and getting haircuts |
![]() |
![]() Goeiedag Guido! @Dave: are you referring to an LSD trip? @fred: no relapses in the last 18 years? |
![]() |
![]() good Morning fred dave ... happy easter days off ! |
![]() |
![]() @Hark - I am referring to my state of molecular being during 1996. It was a complicated time. Good morning Guido & Jay! |
![]() |
![]() @HarktheUmpire: none, I've been clean and fully intend to remain so (the haircut thing is in the process of getting irrelevant anyway) |

Mark:
"A Love Supreme," only the greatest album ever made, probably. The perfect choice as the sun comes up on Good Friday.
![]() |
![]() Thank you mark! I 100% agree. |
![]() |
![]() @fred: Congratulations! :) I admire your persistence, especially in our hair-obsessed times. I have nothing against a good colourful tie though. 31.media.tumblr.com... |
![]() |
![]() Great start of the show, Dave! Just what a needed and perfect with my coffee. |

![]() Damn, this looks roomy for a personal Hell. Got room for one more? Morning, Dave B., and hello all. |
![]() |
![]() Hey Sem! You are always welcome to share in our misery! |
![]() |
![]() Party and dance prohibition in Germany |
![]() |
![]() @Guido: Funny you should mention that. I watched this recently:Sub Berlin - The Story of Tresor (Germany, 2009) - A great look into the german techno subculture www.youtube.com... |
![]() |
![]() Thank you 4 the links Sem. I'm afrais I never appreciated German the way I propable should. Though I was somewhat in touch with the scene in the 90ies. |
![]() |
![]() Beautiful stuff, beautiful show this morning. You're thawing my body out of a week-long tonsillitis. Respect from London. |
![]() |
![]() Thanks for the link Sem! |
![]() |
![]() G'morning Dave this Regina track is very nice |
![]() |
![]() @Guido & Hark: thank our good friends at the "documentaries" sub-reddit:) |
![]() |
![]() Here a film about 80ies cassette culture (where I also was involved in). Haven't seen it yet, but the trailer is quite promissing: vimeo.com... And this is the whole feature: vimeo.com... (I will watch the tresor film as well. Thanks again Sem.) |
![]() |
![]() Thanks B/wad & Maestroso. Thanks for join us today! |
![]() |
![]() @GFC: much appreciated. @Dave Bombay: Hell seems awfully fine this am. |
![]() |
![]() (... in order to avoid misunderstandings: I was involved in cassette culture, not in the film ...) |
![]() |
![]() Thanks Guido! While we're at it... any other documentaries you'd recommend? :) |
![]() |
![]() Hawkwind: www.youtube.com... |
![]() |
![]() Thanks! I actually don't know Hawkwind... |
![]() |
![]() Legendary and long lasting psychedelic/spacerock band, call it "British Krautrock" if you want. Once featured Lemmy Kilmister long before he startet Motörehad. |
![]() |
![]() That's going to be educational then. A big gap in my knowledge. I probably won't call it British Krautrock too soon though, they'd have to be pretty amazing to live up to that name. |
![]() |
![]() The Bombay 45's jukebox is rockin' the stream this *good* Friday. www.hell-cat.com... |
![]() |
![]() "British Krautrock" is a quotation from shindig magazine. "krautrock" was kinda swearname back in the 70ies in Germany And it was less adressed to the experimental bands but rather to some prog/AOR in the shadow of UK/US competitors. |
![]() |
![]() Yeah! Really dig the punk jukebox! |
![]() |
![]() Thanks for clearing that up. I thought it was aimed at Can, Faust, Neu and all. |
![]() |
![]() Good TZAG all! Man, this "Sugarman" cover is nice! |

169barMEGAfanJPEE:
Wonderful. I like this.
![]() |
![]() @hark That is the Julian Cope kinda view on that name. Though: Faust and Neu were not really taken seriousely by larger parts of German music scholars. |
![]() |
![]() I am blissfully unaware of the opinions of German music scholars, but if not Faust and Neu, then who did they take seriously? |
Fri. 4/18/14 7:58am
169barMEGAfanJPEE:
What about an Altered Commonwealth?
Fri. 4/18/14 8:00am
J Patlen is God:
Big fan of that space alien song. I listened to it within an Altered Colony.
![]() |
![]() Is this the sexy J Patlen from McJ? |
Fri. 4/18/14 8:02am
J Patlen is Danzig:
Only his number 1 fan. | |
![]() |
![]() stay blissful! Germn music scholars of several generations could be obnoxious for several reasons. Kraan, Grobschnitt, Lake, Lindenberg ... well, what does it tell us nowß |
![]() |
![]() Guardian Alien is awesome. This "perfec"-?? also |
![]() |
![]() Hahaha! Well welcome one and all! |
Fri. 4/18/14 8:04am
J Patlen is Danzig:
I know there's not a whif of Danzig anywhere on this playlist but I awoke this morning with Danzig on the mind and can't help but wonder if in the future people will, not unlike with Elvis, have Danzig sightings.
![]() |
![]() "Grobschnitt"?! That name is just perfect. |
![]() |
![]() @J Patlen - I bet it will happen. I have Joey Ramone sightings from time to time. |
![]() |
![]() Grobschnitt: legendary prog rock band. Maybe you know EROC, long time their drummer, to day highly regarded producer and mastering engineer. Most people did not know the name came from Film editing. www.grobschnitt-band.de |
![]() |
![]() Jeez, J Patlen: for a second I was scared, thinking Danzig had died! |
Fri. 4/18/14 8:18am
Dan in Milwaukee:
good morning Dave and listeners of all nations
![]() |
![]() I just like it because it sounds like "gobshite". Just tried listening to some Grobschnitt. noodle noodle noodle, going absolutely nowhere. ugh... Music scholars are idiots. |
![]() |
![]() Howdy Dan! |
Fri. 4/18/14 8:20am
J Peters is J Patlen:
@mariano Sorry 'bout that, but you just reminded me to Google "Danzig" just to make sure he is, in fact, still alive.
![]() |

bibi:
hi all. you seem to talk about music scholars, what do you mean ? musicologists ? it gathers quite a lot of different people. |
![]() |
![]() dave. all. happy friday!!! |
![]() |
![]() Hey Bibi! Hi JP & JP! I hope brunch is going well! |
![]() |
![]() here we are again, greetings people! |
![]() |
![]() Some German music scholars who apparently decided that wanky prog rock were to be taken seriously and bands like Faust and Neu were a joke. I don't actually know those scholars. But I feel a tremendous amount of disdain and scorn amassing in my tummy. Give me some targets Guido! |
![]() |
![]() @J Peters: I did the same thing! |
![]() |
![]() @bibi: there are pretty cool gigs at instants chavirés the next couple of weeks (Gnaw + OvO should be worth the adventure of crossing the periph): www.instantschavires.com |

bibi:
@hark, i have personnally the same problem with prog, but we must assume people dont always look at the thing while listening to music. for some people, the aim is the technicity of it, the virtuosity, for others (like us i presume) the aim is somewhere else. @fred, thx ill check this out ! |
![]() |
![]() @Dave: please tell us you are not drinking this:www.toxel.com... |
![]() |
![]() The virtuosity-obsession was a typical 70ies desease. Then came Punk and one generation of music scholars were taken over by the next generation. Anywway the next generation was better informed, but also often enough putting sh**. I must be very carful to give any names. |
![]() |
![]() @bibi: those people... I guess you're right and I'll just have to accept that they're out there. The world is a scary place. I'll just try and stay away from them. |
![]() |
![]() HAWKWIND!!!!!! |
