Nobody DIYs it better than Vicki.
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:26pm mariano:

You know, "No More Lonely Nights" has always been a guilty pleasure of mine. If it had been written in the late 60s and produced by George Martin, played by the Beatles, it might have been a classic. Lots of ifs, but still.
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:26pm People Like Us:

my twitter account has many DIY enthusiasts following it. I am even followed by WD-40
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:26pm People Like Us:

Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:32pm tim:

Auto-piano, I believe is the term.
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:33pm People Like Us:

yes, well yes
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:33pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I was just driving my car and wasn't picking up the 90.1 WMFU signal. Has anyone else reported problems with that transmitter? I'm on the edge of the broadcast area, so it may just be the weather conditions. I was hearing Scott fine just a few hours ago.
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:33pm People Like Us:

player piano
yes
well
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:33pm tim:

Sorry, that's auto-piano-forte. Teknickly.
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:33pm Rich in Washington:

wow! This is gorgeous, this Frank Pahl thing..
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:34pm tim:

Though in the industry it's actually called a "tosser" for some odd reason.
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:34pm People Like Us:

yes, Frank Pahl is great
there are some very nice harbour symphony recordings around too
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:34pm People Like Us:

sorry I ruined it
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:36pm Rich in Washington:

No. this is incredible. Dizzying. Trying to keep up. Thank you.
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:36pm People Like Us:

not sure about transmitter reception prroblems, sorry - is anyone else?
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:37pm Twenty Benson & Hedges:

I'm still looking for just the right used car with a working cassette deck so i can listen to my copy of this ergo phizmiz in full...
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:37pm Rich in Washington:

funny. I was just reading about the Tarzan yell today. This morning. The source claims it's an acoustic palindrome; it can be played backwards and forwards and sounds the same. I am not so sure.
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:38pm ranjit:

Yeah, I'm having worse FM reception than usual in south Brooklyn (91.1) -but I don't blame you. Yet.
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:38pm People Like Us:

yes, it was like a light in the dark realising that tarzan is actually YODELLING...
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:38pm maestroso:

@Ken from Hyde Park...
90.1 went dead about 10 minutes before the end of Scott's program. I posted a comment about it. It's still silent.
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:39pm Rich in Washington:

It's supposed to be a pre-tape era collage of a couple of things. Do you suppose that's true?
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:39pm People Like Us:

Tim - are they aware of this upstairs - the transmitter?
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:39pm Rich in Washington:

I was flummoxed when I learned how Godzilla's roar was made. I still find it hard to believe.
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:40pm tim:

I'll send a note.
  Mon. 3/31/14 7:40pm Phil:

Crazy stuff from Phamily Phizmiz!
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:41pm ranjit:

How was Godzilla's roar made?
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:42pm People Like Us:

thanks Tim :)
I am assuming a tarzan yell sounds the same when swinging from a rope in either directions
I don't know what I mean
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:42pm People Like Us:

sorry... had to go and shut the cat flap then
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:43pm Rich in Washington:

It was to confuse lions so they didn't know what direction he was going
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:43pm People Like Us:

or maybe Godzilla
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:44pm ga01:

Oh my,
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:44pm People Like Us:

maybe it was to confuse those giant spiders and their damn huge webs
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:44pm ranjit:

you shut the cat flap to keep Godzilla out?
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:44pm ga01:

Heidi
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:44pm People Like Us:

I would love to watch Tarzan again but I fear it may reveal itself to be crap and I would be hideously disappointed
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:44pm People Like Us:

yes, Heidi :)
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:45pm Rich in Washington:

@ranjit: (and I hope this doesn't ruin it for anyone) it was made by sliding a rubber glove down an upright bass fiddle's string and then varying the speed.
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:45pm People Like Us:

yes, Ranjit :)
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:45pm ranjit:

Rich, that just makes Godzilla even better. Especially since his spine protrusion things also look like rubber gloves.
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:45pm Rich in Washington:

It seems like the 60s Ron Ely Tarzans were perpetually on Saturdays when I was a child.
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:46pm People Like Us:

really, Rich? How do you know? Really?
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:46pm People Like Us:

I used to dream of having a house like Tarzan.

I've never said that before
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:47pm Rich in Washington:

I read it somewhere and have seen it repeated elsewhere, which we all know means it is true. No one has Snopified it yet, so I assume it to be true.
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:47pm People Like Us:

still do actually
apart from the giant spiders
and the sound effects recording team
  Mon. 3/31/14 7:47pm Phil:

There's still time to live the dream!
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:48pm People Like Us:

yes I well recount that tale, especially the rubber gloves bit
  Mon. 3/31/14 7:48pm Phil:

Cat door is trickier in a tree house
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:48pm Rich in Washington:

Start a Kickstarter and document your progress. We want to see you in your dream house.
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:48pm ranjit:

waaait, tarzan had a house?
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:49pm People Like Us:

yes! With JANE!
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:49pm People Like Us:

I think you Americans call it a "condo"
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:49pm People Like Us:

it's all a cat door in a treehouse
  Mon. 3/31/14 7:50pm Phil:

If the tree's a rockin'...
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:50pm Rich in Washington:

I am surprised there hasn't been a Tarzan reboot in at least 20 years - or am I wrong?
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:51pm Rich in Washington:

Someone must own the rights. Don't you have to do something every few years to keep your ownership solvent?
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:51pm tim:

Liz is on the 90.1 issue.
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:51pm People Like Us:

the official word is they were going to rerun Tarzan but it was crap
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:52pm People Like Us:

oh good, thank you Tim and thanks peoples for mentioning about transmitter problems
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:52pm Rich in Washington:

Did someone try running a rubber glove down the transmitter antennae to see if it would fix it?
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:52pm Rich in Washington:

That's never stopped hollywood before.
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:52pm maestroso:

Thanks Tim and Liz! we miss you here in 90.1 land!
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:53pm People Like Us:

or maybe some WD-40
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:53pm Bryce:

huh.

www.mania.com...
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:53pm Rich in Washington:

I should copy all of our words and run them through the paragraph scrambler. It's almost surreal enough.
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:54pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Nice show tonight (listening on laptop at the moment). I need to go out again and if 90.1 returns to the air, I'll check it out.

Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:55pm People Like Us:

  Mon. 3/31/14 7:55pm Phil:

Fun - thanks!
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:55pm Rich in Washington:

I like War of the Gargantuas because of the silly song in the middle.
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:55pm People Like Us:

there should always be a silly song in the middle
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:56pm Rich in Washington:

Godzilla vs The Smog Monster might be my favorite Kaiju movie ever. So groovy!
Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:57pm People Like Us:

Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:57pm ranjit:

Avatar Mon. 3/31/14 7:57pm Rich in Washington:

He just said 'teejus'.
  Mon. 3/31/14 7:58pm Phil:
