i remember going to her loft for a studio tour week back around 1980. didn't appreciate it then.
Avatar    Mon. 4/7/14 7:27pm Rich in Washington:

I've contributed rare recordings to UBUWeb. In some ways, it feels like you just stuck them in that big warehouse at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark, never to be seen (or heard) again. But I am also proud to have added to the labyrinthian-ness of it all.
Avatar    Mon. 4/7/14 7:28pm People Like Us:

smashing into firewalls should I say

Avatar    Mon. 4/7/14 7:32pm Rich in Washington:

I like that UBroulette thing they've got now, where you can get a random video.
Plus, whoever made that new playlist player is a saint!
  Mon. 4/7/14 7:32pm Phil:

The Raiders of the Lost Ark imagery is great- that's how it feels sometimes
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 7:32pm mariano:

You're not making it any better you know! ;)
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 7:33pm northguineahills:

Thanks for Meredith MonK (and the Patrick Ireland)!
Avatar    Mon. 4/7/14 7:33pm People Like Us:

I like Raiders of the Lost Ark analogies, yes
as much as Muppet analogies
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 7:34pm tim:

Faith-based bed music.
Avatar    Mon. 4/7/14 7:34pm People Like Us:

better than Bed-based faith music
  Mon. 4/7/14 7:35pm MrFab:

Wish there was an easier way to search ubuweb. My own music might be in there. I do know that Kenny has snatched up some of my blog posts and absorbed them into the web that is ubu. (Which is fine by me - glad I can contribute to the Raiders-like warehouse of weirdness.)
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 7:35pm tim:

Perhaps there should be a feasibility study before we make such presumptions.
  Mon. 4/7/14 7:35pm Phil:

I have faith in bed-based music
Avatar    Mon. 4/7/14 7:36pm People Like Us:

look on the /sound page there
Avatar    Mon. 4/7/14 7:37pm Rich in Washington:

Me too, Fab! I was delighted to see something I edited myself absorbed into the Ubu collection (a Bukowski album which originally came in two sides, which I cut into individual tracks).
Probably not Kenneth himself but one of his many and myriad volunteer contributors...
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 7:38pm northguineahills:

Hmmm, I thing I've heard Mr Goldsmith before on air years ago.
Avatar    Mon. 4/7/14 7:38pm Rich in Washington:

@MrFab: it's been purposely made to defy Google search engines. I think out of RIAA (heh) concerns.
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 7:39pm tim:

They say Baudrillard wore a brand new shirt every day of his life.
Avatar    Mon. 4/7/14 7:39pm cklequ:

I love the fact that Kenny G outranks that *other* guy on discogs
www.discogs.com...
Avatar    Mon. 4/7/14 7:39pm Rich in Washington:

and I think they were having problems with the internal search function but it may be restored now.
  Mon. 4/7/14 7:39pm slawooy:

internetophyle
Avatar    Mon. 4/7/14 7:39pm People Like Us:

really? The shirt that is
Avatar    Mon. 4/7/14 7:40pm steve:

wow Sean Landers is on Ubuweb... they've got everything! props to you Vicki for including him on your top ten.
Avatar    Mon. 4/7/14 7:40pm Rich in Washington:

Vicki, wasn't Kenny's show called something like Anal Magic? I can't remember. I'm afraid to google that at work.
Avatar    Mon. 4/7/14 7:41pm People Like Us:

yes, the internal ubu search engine was broken recently - that is whey I'm saying to look at ubu.com/sound if in doubt :) Yes! Sean Landers coming up...
Avatar    Mon. 4/7/14 7:41pm People Like Us:

it's been called a few things - including that - Nothing Special as well
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 7:42pm mariano:

I knew a drag queen that used to sing "This is the dawning of the age of my hairy ass."
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 7:43pm dale:

loved his marathon outfit - viking helmet, pointy bra, codpiece...
  Mon. 4/7/14 7:44pm Ian Stonehouse:

Reminds me of "Cheeses of Nazareth", though unsure where I first heard that
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 7:45pm tim:

Sorry. Confusion. Satie wore a new shirt every day. Baudrillard sported very dull formalism, accessorized with provocative -- essentially meaningless -- jargon, mostly from disciplines far outside his metier.
Avatar    Mon. 4/7/14 7:46pm People Like Us:

I'd opt for the new shirt
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 7:47pm tim:

They called him "The Velvet Gentleman" for a reason.
  Mon. 4/7/14 7:49pm Robert:

Thanks for finally giving us the explanation of why Kenny G. was soooo boring all those yrs.
Avatar    Mon. 4/7/14 7:49pm People Like Us:

you're welcome :)
  Mon. 4/7/14 7:51pm Robert:

It was apparently a test of his discipline--and of ours.
  Mon. 4/7/14 7:52pm Phil:

Cleverly boring
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 7:52pm tim:

Long live "Anal Magic" !

  Mon. 4/7/14 7:53pm Robert:

Jean Shepherd used to speak & write of the "dynamic boredom" practiced by the Army.
Avatar    Mon. 4/7/14 7:53pm cklequ:

I loved Kenny G's boring show.
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 7:53pm mariano:

Ah, yes, I needed some Landers today, thanks -- It's like he's known me my whole life!
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 7:53pm Risky:

Love UbuWeb as well. It is vastly vexatious!
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 7:54pm tim:

... a dynamic which includes grousing about boredom!
Avatar    Mon. 4/7/14 7:55pm Rich in Washington:

Long live Boredom. For those few, seemingly indeterminable moments, your thoughts are your own.
I think the decline of human intellect began when we thought we needed to banish boredom permanently.
  Mon. 4/7/14 7:55pm Phil:

Wow - Landers is the bomb!
Avatar    Mon. 4/7/14 7:56pm People Like Us:

I will have to cut Landers off but you can download him here - www.ubu.com...
