![]() Rennet is derived from the lining of a ruminant stomach, used in coagulating proteins in cheese-making. Interesting album title. |
![]() |
Sat. 2/22/14 7:59am
glenn:
rennet is a coagulant found in the stomachs of various animals, pigs etc. |

Sat. 2/22/14 7:59am

glenn:
sweden's pretty good, but if carey price stands on his head again, and crosby and toews have a good game, it's as good as wheat in the bin, to quote damon runyon. |
![]() |
![]() I'm starring the crap out of this set |
![]() |
![]() Now I have a saying to perplex the locals. Never mind citing Mr. Runyon. Thanks for that and the betting line. |
![]() |
![]() note to self: take some time to strum an acoustic guitar today |
![]() |
![]() Hi folks ! Been listening in the tub where I been soaking my fool sickly head; anybody know which was the track way back - fella picking high up a nylon-string singing about wind & memory ? |
![]() |
![]() ...okay - so now you're going to tell - if I don't eat animals but still eat cheese - it involves an animal's stomach anyhow - ??... |
Sat. 2/22/14 8:31am
Stuart rose:
Sem, I've got to second your comments about Jeffrey's show being a balm to the show, and how he rivets you with all his unusual and beautiful music.

glenn:

![]() |
![]() ...& then someone told me some Beers use some fish component in processing - & Beer is basically Bread w/ Hops - so wtf - ??... |
![]() |
![]() i vote for continuing to consume beer and cheese |
![]() |
Sat. 2/22/14 8:38am
glenn:
there are four ingredients in beer: water, yeast, hops and malt. anything else is unnecessary. |
![]() |
![]() - well - not all beers do it - & not all of the ones who do use it everywhere (they tell me our Guinness here is made in Canada? - I dunno) ...Does all cheese use renet - ?? - Xactly glenn ! |
![]() |
![]() most do....its what has the enzymes that turn milk to cheese |
![]() |
Sat. 2/22/14 8:43am
glenn:
mmmm. i don't think guinness is brewed under license, but i'm not 100% sure. this is far better stout anyway. mcauslan.com... |
![]() |
![]() Okay - Googled my question & there are lists of Vegan Cheese & such; the stomach lining of a slaughtered calf - huh... |
Sat. 2/22/14 8:44am
Stuart rose:
Rev, I'm pretty sure kosher cheese does not contain rennet- but it's absence definitely affects the taste.
![]() |
![]() In answer to a query about Kosher cheese method:"If the source of rennet is a kosher species of animal, ritually slaughtered under rabbinical supervision, it may be used to turn milk into cheese. For rather involved halachic reasons, there is no problem of meat and milk mixing in such usage. Likewise, if rennet is extracted, as it occasionally is, from vegetable sources, there is no question as to the kashrus of the cheese when it is produced under rabbinical supervision." |
![]() |
![]() Looks good glenn - my problem w/ beer that tastes @ all like coffee is - for me the whole point of a pint is likely an antidote to over-caffeination in the werkday - oh yes - in Kosher Meat & Dairy contact is a big no-no - right ? |
![]() |
![]() - cheers Sem. |
Sat. 2/22/14 8:49am
b k:

![]() |

![]() |
![]() ...cud you just had to Sem... |
Sat. 2/22/14 8:55am
