Nick Name:

hi tom / droll - welcome all
Avatar 12:08am
Droll:

You're playing French prog -- Me, P-90, and Tom, that's all of us.

Maybe Mandl's lurking.

northguineahills:

digging.... (first track)

almost sounds like Squarepusher (current track)
  12:26am
Middleman:

Hey Nick, what was the name of that Magma track?
  12:26am
Nick Name:

fleepster!

Jim:

If it weren't for Ginger Baker, I wouldn't have stumbled on Fela Ransome Kuti (on 8-track tape!) back in the '70s.

Droll:

You mean: www.ebay.com...
Mine was on LP, and boy was I surprised.

Jim:

The label was different, but the cartridge was pink. I loved that tape--especially "Black Man's Cry" and "Let's Start What We Have Come into the Room to Do."

Peteski:

Enjoyed the show (everyone) so far.

ausmanx:

evening from southern hemisphere, Nick and listeners. Roxy at their finest... noise band Systematics did a cover of this in a gig at my house a few months back. lends itself to mad covers...
Avatar 1:19am
Droll:

I'll bet the mid-song track switches were especially painful on that Fela Kuti cart. I guess you eventually learn the song as sounding that way. I was never into 8-tracks, I had a few C90's that cut the last 1-2 minutes off an album, and that sure sucked.

Hi Jim / Peteski / ausmanx - thx all for joining
Avatar 1:45am
Droll:

I like these... whatever you call it when you dub in the backing tracks on an acapella recording. There's nothing about it that sounds fragmented.

ausmanx:

always liked this quote about Marisa Anderson... "I know that we have a tendency to worship guitar-playing women. Nothing against any of these bands and I’m sure they wail (Sleater Kinney, The Donnas, or even Hole) but I’d really like to see any of them try something like this."

Glad to be here, better late than never. Had to catch up on some political videos and such. Deperately need some decompression, so thanks for that DJ Nick Name.

Hi , Thx all , appreciate the comments - have a good weekend

Droll:

I got tired and bailed out in the last hour -- knowing the archives are there spoils me to do things like that. Some fine guitar work in that last hour... Especially liked the Matt Baldwin.

Who is Jack Name? Is that your brother? I smell nepotism!

Ditto what P-90 said, and your show is an even better segue into Stan's. Another fine 3 hour spectacle of contrasts. Have a fun week, see you Thursday!
