Here in Spain (Europe) 'chicharrones' refers to a crunchy and dry mix of pork, chicken and garlic fried in its own fat. The crunchy fried pork skin is called 'cortezas'. But we're quite far away from NYC and languages travel and have their own (incredible) History.

Tasty and not suitable for vegetarians, of course.

hahah! Yeah, I remember Meyer Brothers. I think that was at Wayne Hills Mall, which is now a total ghost town. That used to be my go to arcade mall as a kid.

you sure know how to make for a fine Wednesday afternoon in the cubicle, Scott
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm

@Rabbit - people are idiots. You don't need nearly as much protein as everyone seems to think you do.

I've been told I'm Type 2 Diabetic as of August last year....maybe god knows. So far it's so mild..borderline almost. I'm trying to cut out the red meat and fats and starches and things. Eating tons of tofu dishes and things for dinner....losing weight for sure eating that. The MD said watch too much tofu..but what does he know? It's better than red meat!! And not as much bad carbs in tofu

@DCE - I'm still upset about not being able to eat rice w/ my beans...previously my favorite food. Why does everything give you cancer?!

@LCD - I think people started going to Willowbrook more instead. Could also have to do with big box stores popping up in the area. Who knows. Its creepy going there now, though.

What a coincidence, DCE...I just got back in here from the kitchen, where I'm preparing my special recipe of Chilean Beans...complete with briscuit and rib meat...Chilean, is my little play on words I named them...hehehe...:)O(:..

Sunlight gives you cancer. Literally. Heard a genetic scientist say if they extended our lives - everyone would get cancer sooner or later...

LovecraftDude888:

he said beans and legumes are like, don't OD on them for Type 2..I'm like...ok Doc. Still better than a lot of other stuff. RE: Wayne Mall...oh man that is sad. Willowbrook was always a major mall at least as far back as I was going there with my Dad and stepmom in those days they were living in Passaic then Nutley then. then Lyndhurst later. But wow.. that sucks. Willowbrook Mall was pretty large. Recall going there to buy The Final Cut (tape) 1983 the day it was released. The Floyd

Rice..the thing with rice is heavy carbs in large amounts....and brown is better for sure nutrition wise. Pasta, ok in smaller amounts. I used to pound it all down...not anymore. Smaller portions per meal but i can still have it. It's just, major moderation.
  2:43pm
LovecraftDude888:

Mike...but why can't you eat rice? Type 2? Diet?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:43pm

@DCE - yeah, so did I. Sometimes I drink too much, too. Sometimes you gotta say, fuck it, man.

@LCD - they've been finding disturbing levels of arsenic in rice and rice products. Particularly rice cereal which pretty much everyone starts their kids off eating.

I totally gave up alcohol in 2007 for various reasons, health mainly and mood. meds etc. I'm glad...I don't miss it anymore, or hangovers. Feel better overall even with Type 2!

- rice grows in water. Everything grows w/ water & soil & w/ everything that's in them.
- Corn is a grain & so makes complete Protein w/ Beans - the Indians knew - & Squash gave the vitamins.
