You see a blanket on the ground. It's your favorite color, smooth and soft. You can sit on it, or lie on it. It's a flying blanket, and you are the pilot. You are in control. You can fly anywhere you wish, just by thinking about it. You are the pilot.

@12539, if only I knew!

Erotic with certification.

I can’t pay attention to this. Taking an online defensive driving course.
Avatar Mon. 12/2/13 9:29pm Dan Bodah:

@Jake, dunno what's distracting about this show
  Mon. 12/2/13 9:29pm PB:

I've heard a lot of versions of Sister Ray but I think this is the most "interesting" I've ever heard.

Guys, you are helping me become a more defensive driver. I am very close to thinking everyone is out to get in my lane.
Avatar    Mon. 12/2/13 9:31pm doca:

is this sister ray version available on the free music archive, dan b.?
Avatar    Mon. 12/2/13 9:33pm Ken From Hyde Park:

My advice to you guys is to use the 3-second rule. Add more time when it's rainy or whatnot.

that may have been my fave Velvets cover of all time! hard to beat that version, was like what if captain Beefheart did the Velvets. Kinda sorta. But I still love the Joy Division one and the Sisters of Mercy version which is unintelligible.

Also here it seems. freemusicarchive.org...

I like how at the end of Joy Division's live version of Sister Ray Ian Curtis says "You should hear our version of Louie Louie. Pretty funny.
Avatar    Mon. 12/2/13 9:51pm doca:

this show is giving me the chills, only conet project is missing so far.
  Mon. 12/2/13 9:56pm PB:

According to all AMG Jason Pierce and Sonic Boom were born on exactly the same day. That's pretty weird.
     Mon. 12/2/13 10:00pm LovecraftDude888:

Was just watching this dude in the Berlin Live film the past month or so....Candy Says was so damned great in that movie. Totally stonking. was also playing video of nico live doing this on YTube and that's well worth searching down....bone chilling!

. o O ( Backwards ABBA -- Totally transformed! Unrecognizable! Backwards is the most disorienting effect of all )
  Mon. 12/2/13 10:09pm PB:

Abba on Airborne Event is either a new high or a new low, not sure which.
     Mon. 12/2/13 10:09pm LovecraftDude888:

i think it's much improved this way. this is even better than that backward bit in Stigmata Martyr.....bauhaus i mean spiritus sanctiii!
Avatar    Mon. 12/2/13 10:10pm duke:

Abba backwards is abba
Avatar    Mon. 12/2/13 10:12pm JakeGould:

What about Baab?
Avatar Mon. 12/2/13 10:20pm Dan Bodah:

To be fair, the pitch shifter on the backwards Abba added a certain demonic effect too...

Has anyone been to Rough Trade NYC yet?
  Mon. 12/2/13 10:36pm PB:

Body/Head - my number 1 album of the year.
Avatar Mon. 12/2/13 10:39pm Dan Bodah:

I like it too -- they are all doing good work post-SY. Had tentative plans to hit the RT store over the holiday, but other stuff got in the way.
  Mon. 12/2/13 10:45pm PB:

There have been at least 4 shows (Allah-Las, DIIV, Television and Jagwar Ma) that I wanted to see at RT NYC and missed all of them (in most cases because I was too late to buy tickets). Definitely want to check out the store also. The Television show got a good review. in today's NYT. Jon Pareles thought the venue is great (small, great sound, balcony, bar, etc.). Sounds great.
  Mon. 12/2/13 10:45pm Nick:

Who is this Chris Forsyth guy? This is the second track I've heard of his from this release that I've loved. Is he the lead guitarist? Sounds a little like a cross between Tom Verlaine and Jeff Beck at times.
Avatar    Mon. 12/2/13 10:46pm fleep:

Avatar Mon. 12/2/13 10:48pm Dan Bodah:

@Nick, he's the lead guitarist. He did in fact study with Verlaine. He was in PSI /peeesseye as well, has a bunch of records also out under his own name. You can find an amazing session of this music from Airborne Event up on the FMA.
  Mon. 12/2/13 10:49pm Nick:

@Dan - Great, thanks! Will check it out.

I am finding this episode of the Event to be even more unpredictable and inexplicably coherent than usual.
  Mon. 12/2/13 11:00pm Santos L Halper:

Nancarrow, Varese...ok Dan, bring the FZ! Aybe Sea, maybe?
  Mon. 12/2/13 11:08pm John Foley:

great show!

In post SY band-naming, KG has really outperformed TM.
Avatar Mon. 12/2/13 11:09pm Dan Bodah:

@SLH, we'll see if I can fit something in from FZ...
  Mon. 12/2/13 11:11pm greg:

@ottovonbqe I dig the story behind Chelsea Light Moving, you heard it?
Avatar Mon. 12/2/13 11:11pm Dan Bodah:

@greg, I haven't heard the story, pls tell
Avatar    Mon. 12/2/13 11:13pm ottovonbqe:

@greg - yes, but I believe that allusion only gets you so far. The name needs to stand on its own too.
  Mon. 12/2/13 11:13pm greg:

I heard Chelsea Light Moving was the name of Phillip Glass's (and Steve Reichs?) moving company.
  Mon. 12/2/13 11:15pm greg:

Please fill-in or correct me if I'm wrong ;)

Been to Rough Trade NYC. Not for a show. Just the store. The store is like a goth hipster HMV. Meh.
     Mon. 12/2/13 11:56pm 12539:

Great show, Mr Bodah.
Avatar    Mon. 12/2/13 11:56pm Droll:

Just in case you thought you got away with it, I caught the Mellotron during the Julian Cope song and the Prog Police have been notified.

Regardless, thanks DB, lovely drones tonight.
