Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Is that one 'o them two songs-on-one-side 45s spinnin' there? Looks like it's got a groove break, though the title looks too brief.

When I was a teen, I checked this album out from the library and taped it. There was also a song called "Teenarama" on it, that was my favorite.

Another of my failures as a uke arranger.

Avatar Fri. 10/25/13 12:41pm efd:

Cheap Trick played at the Palladium a few days before or after that Patti Smith show. I went to that show too. It was also finals week, and thus the tone was set for the next four years.
Avatar    Fri. 10/25/13 12:42pm Uncle Michael:

no doubt
Avatar Fri. 10/25/13 12:44pm northguineahills:

I actually like this Graham Parker and the Rumour version.

Cheers, UM, off to lunch!
Avatar    Fri. 10/25/13 12:44pm pacific standard simon:

I was at the final Sex Pistols show. Good thing there's a recording, because I was too drunk too remember most of it.
Avatar    Fri. 10/25/13 12:45pm Uncle Michael:

I was too drunk to remember my Patti Smith show. Though I remember meeting them earlier in the day at an in-store. Ivan bummed a smoke off me.
Avatar Fri. 10/25/13 12:49pm still b/p:

I was at one Dead concert and obviously they're all recorded and passed around..does that count?
Avatar Fri. 10/25/13 12:50pm Michael:

Saw Patti Smith in Central Park, September, 1979 when they still did regular shows there. I don't remember much but can't blame alcohol.
Avatar Fri. 10/25/13 12:56pm still b/p:

Speaking of NY parks -- interesting to see when I went with a friend of mine that her friends from years ago still show up reliably and informally in Washington Square Park playing music in that non-stop scene, and she could join right in again.
Avatar Fri. 10/25/13 1:03pm Jeff Golick:

Barack Obama landed in a NY park today.
Avatar    Fri. 10/25/13 1:07pm Uncle Michael:

Avatar Fri. 10/25/13 1:17pm Michael:

I think Obama flew into Doug and Charlie's beloved Prospect Park. I read they were closing part of it for the visit.
Avatar Fri. 10/25/13 1:21pm Jeff Golick:

Yup, guess he's landing between 12 and 6pm: www.fuckedinparkslope.com...
Avatar    Fri. 10/25/13 1:23pm Alex In Illinois:

Was that the part where she chain-sawed the guitar?
Avatar    Fri. 10/25/13 1:25pm Uncle Michael:

Yes indeed.
Avatar    Fri. 10/25/13 1:29pm Alex In Illinois:

This was the only Devo song the punk band I was in was able to cover. Ted, the drummer was about 10 years old, so he was able to sing some of the synth parts.
Avatar    Fri. 10/25/13 1:30pm Uncle Michael:

Perfect!
  Fri. 10/25/13 1:31pm K W:

My brother and I ordered those early Devo singles from an ad we saw in Trouser Press - handmade straight from Akron OH
Avatar    Fri. 10/25/13 1:33pm pacific standard simon:

Avatar    Fri. 10/25/13 1:40pm pacific standard simon:

  Fri. 10/25/13 2:08pm Robert:

Just tuned in, fun show! Pardon me if already answered above
but are these flexi's from Flexipop magazine?
Avatar Fri. 10/25/13 2:09pm efd:

Oh hey, I haven't written up the blurb yet because I didn't want it to get lost with all the October specials, but I'm having a partial Human Switchboard reunion live on my show on Nov. 6!
