Avatar Fri. 3/16/12 12:14pm Doug Schulkind:

Something I wrote after Lester Bowie died: bit.ly...
Fri. 3/16/12 12:20pm listener james from westwood:

  Fri. 3/16/12 12:22pm Paul Sherratt:

Should I have another coffee ?
  Fri. 3/16/12 12:22pm Hugo:

I saw the AEC for the first time at the medieval Haakon Hall in Bergen. Those guys in a Nordic European medieval setting - perfect! Years later he played in town with a local brass band and with Moye and Myers. I was at home baby-sitting, but my wife was there.
Avatar Fri. 3/16/12 12:24pm Doug Schulkind:

Staying home with the babe so dear wife can see the Art Ensemble. You are a credit to your gender, Hugo.
  Fri. 3/16/12 12:27pm Hugo:

Alas, at the time I did not count on him never coming back. This was 1994, I think, but there you go, you can't have it all.
Avatar Fri. 3/16/12 12:30pm Doug Schulkind:

Do NOT call the station and ask for the catalog. This show is 17 years old.
  Fri. 3/16/12 12:33pm Carmichael:

OK, I hear Steinski, I see comments, I feel achy arm muscles. All is well.
Fri. 3/16/12 12:33pm listener james from westwood:

"i hate adjectives"—i feel the same way about adverbs.
  Fri. 3/16/12 12:34pm Carmichael:

I hate gerunds.
Fri. 3/16/12 12:34pm listener james from westwood:

fucking gerunds.
Avatar Fri. 3/16/12 12:35pm Doug Schulkind:

I hate fucking gerunds. (Now fucking an adverb = bliss.)
Fri. 3/16/12 12:37pm listener james from westwood:

hating fucking gerunds ≠ hate-fucking gerunds.
Fri. 3/16/12 12:38pm Van in DC:

Wow. I was JUST googling "moose" during that
Fri. 3/16/12 12:38pm listener james from westwood:

nora ephron's spouse is writer nick pileggi. helluva team.
  Fri. 3/16/12 12:41pm Carmichael:

No Hay Montana = I don't have any Lard?
Avatar Fri. 3/16/12 12:42pm Doug Schulkind:

Wyoming? Why the hell not.
  Fri. 3/16/12 12:43pm Paul Sherratt:

Fri. 3/16/12 12:44pm listener james from westwood:

  Fri. 3/16/12 12:51pm Hugo:

Paul, I came across a Roxy Gordon lp in a second-hand shop in town. I'll drop by tomorrow to see if they still have it.
Avatar Fri. 3/16/12 12:53pm Doug Schulkind:

Nice, Hugo. I have never even seen a Roxy record in person.
Fri. 3/16/12 12:53pm Van in DC:

St Patrick's Day sure snuck up on me this year... It's tomorrow? Wow.
  Fri. 3/16/12 12:53pm Paul Sherratt:

Hugo.
The owner will have died. Buy it !
  Fri. 3/16/12 12:55pm Andy S.:

Trivial question: How come some playlist entries don't have label identifications, cf. Beastie Boys (Def Jam/Columbia) and Booker T. & the MGs (Stax)?
  Fri. 3/16/12 12:57pm Hugo:

@paul: I will, unless some other schmuck has grabbed it in the meantime, but not very likely. Not a household name, unfortunately. Terry Allen was a fan, unsurprisingly.
  Fri. 3/16/12 12:58pm joe:

Froggy the Gremlin what a great track what a great name.
Fri. 3/16/12 12:58pm listener james from westwood:

sounded like the midwestern croak of bill burroughs saying "smile" back there.
Avatar Fri. 3/16/12 12:58pm Doug Schulkind:

Good question, Andy. I don't have the time to go hunting for all the info. I preview each show and write down all the info Steinski provides (and add whatever info I happened to know). I am not crafting this playlist with the completist approach that I apply to my GTDS playlist.
  Fri. 3/16/12 12:59pm still b/p:

Nora must not have liked an adjective humper like Carroll .
  Fri. 3/16/12 1:00pm joe:

I'm trying to read the John Oswald Plunderphonics essay and the damn type is so small I had to print it out. :)
  Fri. 3/16/12 1:00pm Paul Sherratt:

Hugo,
It'll be a UK release I'm guessing. Let us know asap !!!!!!!!!
  Fri. 3/16/12 1:00pm Hugo:

I like that phrase - completist approach.
Fri. 3/16/12 1:03pm Van in DC:

Thanks Doug!
Avatar Fri. 3/16/12 1:03pm Doug Schulkind:

Woo hoo Van! Woo hoo you and you and you!
Fri. 3/16/12 1:03pm listener james from westwood:

always a very swift, very fun hour with these shows. thanks!!
Fri. 3/16/12 1:04pm listener james from westwood:

iirc one could also have purchased the beau hunks record behind steinski in the long-lost catalog of curiosities, too.
Avatar Fri. 3/16/12 1:05pm Doug Schulkind:

ydrc, ljfw!
  Fri. 3/16/12 1:07pm Hugo:

@paul: I suspect it was "Crazy Horse never died" - from memory. Didn't notice the label. Anyhow, I'll find out.
  Fri. 3/16/12 1:07pm joe:

which show is thid Doug?
  Fri. 3/16/12 1:10pm Paul Sherratt:

Hugo,
It will be that Crazy Horse - the only one committed to vinyl, I'm pretty sure.
Avatar Fri. 3/16/12 1:11pm Doug Schulkind:

Joe, not sure of your question. Email me...
