Listener comments!

Wed. 8/11/10 3:01pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

is that lizard wearing a condom?
  Wed. 8/11/10 3:02pm Robert:

I thought it was a sock, like for if its tail got cold.
  Wed. 8/11/10 3:05pm Irwin:

playlist photo: regretsy (thanks to kittne)
Wed. 8/11/10 3:06pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

Sam Prekop strikes again--nice
  Wed. 8/11/10 3:07pm Bad Ronald:

Of course it's a condom, look at the "flower".
Wed. 8/11/10 3:09pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

flowers are hot
Wed. 8/11/10 3:10pm The Virgin Kid:

What's a condom?
Wed. 8/11/10 3:11pm Matt from Springfield:

Amanda already! Nice segue from the last track, I didn't suspect it was The Power Child at first.
Wed. 8/11/10 3:13pm Matt from Springfield:

Was that Martin in the dialogue at the end?
Wed. 8/11/10 3:16pm Matt from Springfield:

@Ronald: But notice, the flower is about the same color as the tail. The direction of the flower wouldn't imply that it's part of the tail, but it still could be that; spreading out of or else oozing into the "sock"
Wed. 8/11/10 3:18pm Matt from Springfield:

Not to mention: the lizard's tongue is sticking into the earth, which the flower grows out of, and then they both touch together. Connectedness any way you see it. This art history lecture was sponsored by the Ford Foundation.
  Wed. 8/11/10 3:18pm Bad Ronald:

Thank you. Now I am intrigued...
Wed. 8/11/10 3:19pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

man I wish I could go back to college for art lessons. I just saw a condom.
Wed. 8/11/10 3:23pm Matt from Springfield:

@DCE: It's not your fault, it's our evolution. As Melaine Safka explained: "A thing is a phallic symbol if it's longer than it's wide."
Wed. 8/11/10 3:23pm Matt from Springfield:

I'm glad Jessica's coming back today!
  Wed. 8/11/10 3:24pm Bad Ronald:

Upon further inspection, the "flower" may be the lizard's forked tongue coming back out of the earth via a leafy vine...
Wed. 8/11/10 3:29pm Matt from Springfield:

There you go, Bad Ronald! I also just noticed that the earth is only cracked along the path from the tongue to the flower; tunneling through...
  Wed. 8/11/10 3:30pm Mike East:

Viva Voce! I played a show with these folks in DC years ago! Lovely couple of people..put on a good show.
Wed. 8/11/10 3:40pm Matt from Springfield:

Trippy...
Wed. 8/11/10 3:45pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

best BS song ever
Wed. 8/11/10 3:47pm Buffalo from Springfield!!:

I must say, even by only 3:45 this show is excellent today. Thanks for the BS.
  Wed. 8/11/10 3:50pm jan:

you have got an ethereal program going on today- 'cept for Amanda.
Nice!
  Wed. 8/11/10 4:01pm Laura L:

I missed the BS on account of BS--that curly corded instrument on my desk ringing again! A phone meeting--on a Wednesday! The nerve!
  Wed. 8/11/10 4:02pm Playlist Pic:

Is that the rarely sighted condom dragon on the left?
Wed. 8/11/10 4:09pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

these Free Design tunes are impeccable
  Wed. 8/11/10 4:10pm jan:

Too bad that Amanda didn't cover any free design songs.
Wed. 8/11/10 4:10pm Matt from Springfield:

Yes, but the lizard's very productive, shedding it's tail skin several times a day, supplying the world's hygene companies.

@Laura: sorry you missed the Buffalo S. -- meeting, confering and curly-corded intrusions, just like me yesterday! But listen to the Archive, "Expecting To Fly" is incredible.
  Wed. 8/11/10 4:11pm poodleman:

Kinda digging The Free Design. Reminds me of this: http://www.wfmu.org/365/2003/074.shtml
Wed. 8/11/10 4:13pm Matt from Springfield:

Can't believe these were meant to be played and not listened to--a Carpenters-like vibe for Middle America, or a hippie on enough 'ludes.
Wed. 8/11/10 4:14pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

works on both levels, see, it's insidious
Wed. 8/11/10 4:14pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

the best pop music always is
Wed. 8/11/10 4:17pm Matt from Springfield:

You're right DCE. Like "Bubbles", even has a melancholy tone to go with the "bubblegum" sound. And these really lovely harmonies here.
Wed. 8/11/10 4:18pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

oh here's a link to more paintings by this person (friend of yours, Irwin?)
http://www.etsy.com/shop/valevortex
  Wed. 8/11/10 4:19pm poodleman:

Yeah this is a nice balance: too square for the hippies, too trippy for the Andy Williams show
Wed. 8/11/10 4:23pm Matt from Springfield:

Amen, poodleman!
  Wed. 8/11/10 4:33pm thelma:

This makes me think of the Fugs "This is a Hit Song" on Be Free. "This is a hit song gonna make me rich. Why don't you buy it, you son of a bitch/"
  Wed. 8/11/10 4:39pm Laura L:

That last one was Portisheadish.
  Wed. 8/11/10 4:42pm Mike East:

Great show today, Irwin. Thoroughly enjoyable.
Wed. 8/11/10 4:43pm Matt from Springfield:

Is "The Now Sound Redesigned" available for sale anywhere?
Wed. 8/11/10 4:43pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

only through this exclusive television offer--call now! operators are standing by
  Wed. 8/11/10 4:48pm paul:

terribly sad news, i love the free design.
Wed. 8/11/10 4:49pm Matt from Springfield:

Hmm, I could go to outlets or Amazon and get a used copy, but what do I get if I call in the next 10 minutes?
  Wed. 8/11/10 4:51pm ginger tim:

You can find a new copy of "The Now Sound Redesigned" at Amazon for 0.50 + shipping - time to snap it up!
Wed. 8/11/10 4:53pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

but if you call our operators NOW we'll throw in a handy chamois cloth that absorbs up to 3 gallons of liquids BUT WAIT there's more!
Wed. 8/11/10 4:54pm Matt from Springfield:

Even MORE??!! Do you take CODs, or is this after the 80s?
Wed. 8/11/10 4:55pm Matt from Springfield:

My typical query during Amanda time: does anyone know what song is in the background of "Lurch"?
  Wed. 8/11/10 5:02pm Bad Ronald:

Marsha Gee:

http://www.ifmusic.co.uk/images/product_images/marshageepeanutduck.jpg
  Wed. 8/11/10 5:08pm Splunge:

My, Jessica has the sexiest voice EVER.

I feel bad that I punctured that eardrum with my Slurpee straw during the Amanda song,
Wed. 8/11/10 5:28pm Matt from Springfield:

I almost forgot about "There's No Time To Count To Infinity"! That's one of my favorites of yours, Jessica! I guess because it's like an arty short subject film.
  Wed. 8/11/10 5:29pm Oreck:

Hear that loud hum? It's me 'n Irwin, keeping WFMU beautiful.
  Wed. 8/11/10 5:36pm poodleman:

Well, I'm not rich BECAUSE I'm smart...right?
  Wed. 8/11/10 5:41pm Spellcheck:

I don't deign to service ASCII-only message boxes. I don't do windows, either. I have been known to vacuum, if forced.
Wed. 8/11/10 5:43pm Numeric keypad to your right:

ASCII only? 076 079 076 033
  Wed. 8/11/10 5:44pm poodleman:

I live in a vacuum. And so do you, if you're really who you say you are, "Spellcheck".
  Wed. 8/11/10 5:45pm Nature:

I abhor this.
  Wed. 8/11/10 5:48pm Bad Ronald:

I'm still trying to figure out why an autoerotic lizard needs protection.
  Wed. 8/11/10 5:50pm douglas:

cuz mother nature's a whore
  Wed. 8/11/10 5:51pm Lizard:

Autroerotic? Speak for yourself, bub.
  Wed. 8/11/10 5:51pm Gecko:

At least I can last 15 minutes.
Wed. 8/11/10 5:52pm Matt from Springfield:

Extemely high quality show today Irwin! Now I'm going off to make an acclaimed indie film in order to incorporate this Taken by Trees song into an indie film soundtrack.
  Wed. 8/11/10 5:52pm zach braff:

not if i beat you to it matt!!
Wed. 8/11/10 5:54pm Matt from Springfield:

Zach? Rats! I forgot this website and server are in NJ, which you own for indie film purposes! I'll try to find somewhere in VA or MD no one's spotted yet.
  Wed. 8/11/10 5:55pm lizard's friend:

ever since lizard saw that HIV video with magic johnson and arsenio hall he doesn't leave the house without his rub on
  Wed. 8/11/10 5:57pm poodleman:

Happy to know lizard's safe. No thanks to you, Mother Nature!
Wed. 8/11/10 6:00pm Numeric keypad to your right:

067 085 076 056 084 082 033
  Thu. 8/12/10 9:24pm rrg:

Marsha (not Marcia) Gee, I think.
  Thu. 8/12/10 9:31pm Irwin:

Marsha retagged
  Fri. 8/13/10 12:14am Jim B:

Irwin, I seem to remember you ribbing Gaylord for playing "Kites Are Fun" way back when he was a newbie, unless it's the Alzheimer's plaques scrambling the synapses.
  Fri. 8/13/10 12:24am Irwin:

That was last century, Jim, when Gaylord and I were wee lads. It was a schoolyard squabble.
  Sat. 8/14/10 1:43am Jim B:

Yeah, the damn 21st century is old already.
