Playlist for Irene Trudel - February 2, 2009

Mondays 3pm - 6pm on WFMU 91.1 fm 90.1 fm wfmu.org

Music floating on calmer seas is "netted" by my ears and released to the hungry listeners. It's a stringy catch, but frequently live and always delectable.

Never gets old, does it?

Mon. 2/2/09 3:07pm From: Parq

Irene, who had the well known version of "Head and Heart"? I know the song well, but it seems I remember a different version than Martyn's own.

Mon. 2/2/09 3:18pm From: Irene

Parq-- I'm not sure if I know of another version of "Head and Heart." This is the one I know.

I think the Venn diagram of the shows that both Cecile and I have seen would show a considerable amount of overlap.

Mon. 2/2/09 3:38pm From: north guinea hills

in 2000, a month before I moved here from FL, I found myself in line at the Knitting Factory to see John Fahey. 3 hours later, he had still had yet to appear. 6 months later, he passed on.... : (

Mon. 2/2/09 3:52pm From: pyschothresher

this moss song has a little of the police's "king of pain" in it -- that melody ("you are whatever... king of pain!!!"

Mon. 2/2/09 3:55pm From: north guinea hills

If you never "got" Jacques Brel, see the DailyMotion channel of Lightning49 or the YouTube channel of lightning494 for lots of Brel performance with English subtitles. You will "get" Brel. I have been working for years to help anglophones "get" Brel.

Mon. 2/2/09 4:06pm From: tablogloid

Being a Francophile always was pleasant, but it makes it even better that it pisses the right wingers off as much as it does nowadays.
