@Keili, thanks -- glad you liked the Pocohaunted, you should check out the CD, it's awesome. @Hallock Hill -- the Judy Jaeger is brand new -- there's not much info out there that I can find -- and none on the record itself -- it's a self-released thing, but wow! You can get it at Other Music (othermusic.com) | |

Steve Wolfe:
Hi Dan, Last night I was online reading about the new Larkin Grimm CD coming out next month. I'd call myself a 'sorta' fan...have a few songs on the iPod but probably listened to each of her CDs once all the way through. Then I came upon a blog offering a link to an edited (no talking, just music- did you make that?) zip file of the show she did with you in 2008 which was described as 'exquisite, possibly the best recorded music of hers available'. I listened to it on headphones in bed last night and was completely overwhelmed by what I was listening to. It's an incredible show- I had no idea how skillful and versatile her voice is, how tight the arrangements are, how unique and powerful and 'out there' her music is. One of those rare musical epiphanies for me. Whoever engineered the show did a beautiful job, though personally I would have kept her beautiful voice way out front for every song, even on the 'band' songs, though I realize how undemocratic that would have been. Anyway, just wanted to thank you for making that show happen. I haven't listened to your interview with her yet, but will do so today. If you have any anecdotes or memories of the session, I'd love to hear them. Thanks also for your show every week- it's one of the best on WFMU. All the best- Steve W. |
