Have you ever been to Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge? similar sounds, well except maybe w/o the cello. But birds and planes, planes and birds...

Sun. 8/24/08 8:51am From: Dan B

Thanks for the tip re: Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge. I'll have to head out there and explore with my recorder.

If you go to the east pond (wear rubber boots), you can also get the A train running by every few minutes. The east pond also has the peeping of the peeps (sandpipers) and the mucking of your boots plus the planes passing overhead. People (birders) park in the lot just after the North Channel Bridge, on the east side of the Cross Bay Parkway, about a mile north of the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge visitor center, and walk the sidewalk on Cross Bay south a few hundred feet, turn left onto the gravel road, walk toward the end of that and turn right onto the third path on the right. That whole area is a wild place to explore, mecca for birds (esp with fall migration coming), and close to one of the busiest international airports in the world (JFK).
