it's a cold and wet rainy Saturday morning on this shrunken planet today. morning Jeffrey, Ruth, and shriveled up shrunken listeners.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:06am Jeffrey Davison:

Good morning Nulsh, 12539, Ruth Booth, Heidee, Kpx and Sylvia! As you can hear, I'm out in the deep woods, recording the sounds of nature, and I brought some instruments with me. My exact location is secret, for reasons of national security.
Avatar 6:07am Heidee:

Hi Jeffrey, wish I was there. <3
  6:08am Cooh John:

Good morning Jeffrey and planeteers. It feels like I woke up in a forest. I just hope that cuckoo is gone on 1/20. Nice start to the weekend. Thank you.

Nothing like a walk in the woods.
  6:09am Cooh John:

A tip of the hat to you, Ruth.

@Heidee: Morning teach. 👩‍🏫
Avatar 6:13am Heidee:

Hi there Kpx! You're right, I'm back to grading papers this weekend. I don#t seem to manage a better work-life-balance. Then again, in homeschooling time is relative. But I am so lucky to do this with Jeffrey's beautiful sounds as a backdrop. Bliss. How are you doing these days, my friend?
Hiiiiiiii Nuuuuulsh!
Hello there Sylvia, I owe you this email which I haven't sent off yet. Please be patient with me.

Heidee, all guid here ken! Heh heh! I was talking to a few of the Edinburgh bunch yesterday and they were telling me they had Thunderstorm!!! Was on the news and everything!
Been a long time since I had a beer in Babbity's! My part of town though - I'm normally boozing around Merchant City / Trongate.

Where is Sem when you have such great music from Canada?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:58am Nulsh:

TDK60, would love to hear yer' originals when yer' ready!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:59am Jeffrey Davison:

hendrix wolfbat, good morning and welcome! It's not always, but most Saturdays the first hour is ambient and pastoral avant garde/electronic, the second and third hours are often singer-songwriter folk, country, and sometimes old-timey and blues. This morning is 3 hours, mostly in this vein.
  6:59am Cooh John:

Back at you, TDK60. Cbus is doing fine. Me as well. How are things in your neck of the woods?
Swag For Life Member 6:59am Roadside Picnic:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:05am Jeffrey Davison:

Good morning Bas NL! Raining fairly heavily here right now, but supposed to clear up and be a mostly nice weekend.
Avatar 7:07am TDK60:

Cooh John. NYC is trying hard to keep the virus numbers down, as it surges again. Most people appear to believe in medical science. There are still a few buskers here and there, braving the subway platforms with their tunes. Another music club is folding...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:08am Jeffrey Davison:

Good morning Roadside Picnic! Thanks for the info...
Avatar 7:10am Ignatatus666:

I’m a tad confused this fine evening
I’m home safely from a slow night on the road. No bars no work no hustle
Here’s my confusion though
Can’t find my way home
Not sure if that’s the correct song title. Stashu played a cover version last night. Then I don’t know if it was your first song today or was it the last squirrel carcass song. Then again I could have been on the archives and didn’t realize it.
I’ll sort it out when I realize
It really doesn’t matter.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:12am Jeffrey Davison:

ignatatus666, good morning! Joe D played it toward the end of Peaceful Solutions...
  7:13am hendrix wolfbat:

I have to wake up for work at 430 daily so when it's my day off pretty neat impossible to Sleep in. This morning same. My laundry machine died a couple weeks ago so I gathered my stuff and have been in an empty bright clean laundromat in Smyrna Ga doing my laundry this whole time. This show has just made my laundry a delightful transcendent experience. Thank you!! ☺️🙏
Avatar 7:13am Heidee:

Hiya Cooh John!
Welcome, hendrix wolfbat!

Near not neat. Damn you autocorrect!
  7:14am Andrew in Toronto:

@Cooh John,
I live in Toronto.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:14am Jeffrey Davison:

@hendrix wolfbat, glad you found FMU and it's helping with the laundry...
I always enjoy going to the laundromat, as it becomes time to sit and read for a change...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:15am Kevin-san:

Good morning JD and planeteers! Enjoying the ambient goodies, and looking forward to Jeffrey pronouncing the name of that @discophone album in the next back-announce!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:16am Jeffrey Davison:

Good morning, Kevin-san, and just you wait!
Avatar 7:16am Ignatatus666:

Thanks @Jeffrey
The cover version on Dance with me Stanley caught me by surprise. I wonder if Joe D knew she played it.
Avatar 7:17am Deborah:

Good morning from very rainy Montclair. Clyde The Kitty didn't let the quiet stop him from his 5AM ritual of shredding papers and making sure his human began to serve his every need. He is listening to this mesmerizing music and watching the rain, now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:18am Jeffrey Davison:

I took a nice chair off the street last week and was happy since it was in good shape. It dawned on me that the new odor in my room, of green beans left out of the fridge for two weeks, was coming from the chair. I might be able to fix it, but otherwise, I plan to smell like green beans from now on.
  7:18am hendrix wolfbat:

Jeffrey Davison I'm a long time fmu listener and supporter. Probably 8 years or so. My college friend Sherri Locker dates Evan Funk Davies. She shared one of his shows on FB and that was the beginning. Love fmu. It keeps giving back! Love that I discovered your show today.
  7:18am jn34282:

@Deborah we are slaves to our feline overlords:)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:20am Jeffrey Davison:

Good morning Deborah! Yes, the cats are a good wake-up system!
@hendrix wolfbat: got ya. Anyway, glad you are up early today! And all hail Evan Funk Davies, one of the great DJs here. Encyclopedic knowledge, and of course, impeccable taste!
Avatar 7:21am duke:

GM FMUniverse - love and where's my coffee from Bklyn
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:24am Jeffrey Davison:

Just for the record, good people, almost all the photos that have graced the top of my playlists for the last several months or so are iphone shots taken by me. Two exceptions that I recall off the bat: the first photo I used, by the late great Dave Heath, and a picture of a Neve console, from the web.

Good morning p/b! On my way with the coffee...espresso, doppio, Americano, pour-over, or what's yer poison?
Avatar 7:26am Heidee:

Dia Dhuit, Niall!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:26am Niall:

Late start here, but digging the synthy stuff I've heard coming in and out of the room. Pourin' up a cup of coffee and here we go.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:27am Jeffrey Davison:

@Nulsh, yes, I must write that song now!
Good morning Niall!
@TDK60: yes! St. James Place, in Clinton Hill.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:28am Niall:

Hello, @Heidee! I need to learn a secular response to that. I generally default to "ah, hey man ;)"
Avatar 7:29am Sylvia (France-NYC):

@Nulsh can't clicky star that track either, maybe it's very shy
Avatar 7:29am Strandlund:

Beautiful start to a beautiful weekend here in the Midwest!! Thanks Jeffrey!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:29am Niall:

This is good "cold light in early afternoon" music here on the Dingle Peninsula.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:31am Niall:

There was snow on the tall mountain by me; winter is icumen in.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:31am Nulsh:

Sylvia, I should have known you'd like that one too!
Tell me, is the Bandcamp Friday EVERY Friday? Or select ones?
Swag For Life Member 7:31am 12539:

(Maybe Hibernardo can't be clicked because the character set is foreign? Is that Korean?)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:32am Niall:

@Nulsh: I'm not @Sylvia, but it's the first Friday of the month; I don't know if they'll continue in 2021.
Avatar 7:32am Heidee:

Niall, "hey man" is fine. :-) Love Dingle, great memories.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:32am Jeffrey Davison:

Good morning Strandlund, and you're welcome!
Nulsh, it's been once a month but they have not announced any dates in 2021 yet, but expect they will...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:32am Niall:

I went at the Bandcamp last night awful hard.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:33am Nulsh:

Niall, cheers mucker!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:33am Jeffrey Davison:

12539, yes Korean. I'm learning 36 languages during lockdown. ;)
Avatar 7:33am Sylvia (France-NYC):

since March it was BandcampFriday every first Friday of the month, yesterday was the last one. They haven't announced if they're renewing for next year. They'll still do some, from time to time I guess, not as regularly
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:34am Niall:

Much better answer from @Sylvia (France-NYC), and good day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:34am Nulsh:

And thanks Sylvia and Jeffrey.
I didn't get an opportunity yesterday, and kicking myself now!
Avatar 7:35am Sylvia (France-NYC):

Thank you, @Niall :D (and I confirm, we're not the same person)

and I forgot to tag @Nulsh in my reply
Avatar 7:35am Sylvia (France-NYC):

hey, @Nulsh, any day is good to BUY music
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:36am Nulsh:

Sylvia, good point, well made.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:36am p/b:

coffee +milk + Jameson, art and balance, full moon/new moon working it out and not knowing the difference. Just thankful to be here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:37am Jeffrey Davison:

I agree with Sylvia...Bandcamp Fridays are best for musicians, but it's a pretty good deal any day for them. a thousand times better than f'in Spotify. Not sure about you but I find so much good stuff on Bandcamp, if I don't buy it right then, I can forget about it.
Avatar 7:38am Ignatatus666:

About that chair Jeffrey
Try linseed oil, or vinegar and sliced red onions
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:38am Jeffrey Davison:

p/b...is that called The Irish Prime Minister? Anyway, I'm out of Jameson here, so will have to wait until the liquor stores open. I have Scotch but that may be too sharp!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:39am Niall:

I have a Bandcamp tab open next to my WFMU tab most of the time. Between this show, Bryce's, Radio Ravioli and Zoe B's, I'm hemorrhaging money, ha.
  7:39am jn34282:

@Jeffery hear hear on bandcamp Spotify just sucks
Avatar 7:39am Ignatatus666:

Oh and beverage choice is iced tea unsweetened
Green or black but never a roobios
Avatar 7:39am Sylvia (France-NYC):

for the record, Spotify pays an average of $0,0038 per stream
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:40am Jeffrey Davison:

Ignatatus666, sounds good. I'm afraid it might be underneath, and I will tear off the lining. If I'm lucky it's the lining, and hoping it's not moldy underneath. A moldy oldie for a moldy oldie.
Roobios makes great iced tea, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:41am Niall:

@Jeffrey Davison: Depending on the ratios, I'd call that The Functional Irish-American. I kid; I kid.
Avatar 7:42am Deborah:

Late to Bandcamp. Wishing i had the funds to buy the music in quantity, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:42am Jeffrey Davison:

jn34282 and Sylvia: I almost never use Sp*tify, only when I cannot find a track I must play on Bandcamp. Average: less than one track per show, maybe one track every 3-4 shows at most.
Swag For Life Member 7:43am Ted in Montclair:

Ahoy mateys. Is it Saturday morning again? Aye, ‘tis.
Avatar 7:43am Sylvia (France-NYC):

@Jeffrey I'm not blaming you for using :) you're doing so much already for indie artists!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44am Jeffrey Davison:

Niall: Churchill drank all day. Upon arising, had whisky with a lot of water, and usually wine with lunch and perhaps a brandy as well, and of course at dinner and later, and yet, England's greatest leader perhaps.
Avatar 7:44am TDK60:

Jeffrey, I see all sorts of discarded furniture, some usable. But I hesitate what with the bed bugs. I did find a bookshelf but washed it down with alcohol. (Now I need to get me some books.)
  7:44am jn34282:

@Jeffery sounds good to me
Avatar 7:45am Fredericks:

I ran into the same problem. Something is afoot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45am Brian in UK:

Hello Ruth, Jeffrey & cool cats everywhere.

Lots of rain last night but it has blown away & now the light is just sublime; the sort that you can see for miles & some early Winter sun.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45am Jeffrey Davison:

Good morning Ted in Montclair!
Sylvia: I know. I figure it the same way.
TDK60, I agree. I found the chair in Montclair so figured the chance of bedbugs was low.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:47am Jeffrey Davison:

Good morning Fredericks and Brian in UK!
@fredericks: I will check it and discard the chair if I have to.

Good morning Brian in UK.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:51am Niall:

Jeffrey Davison: Churchill's not the guy to hold up as a paragon of leadership to anyone from Kenya, the Indian subcontinent or Ireland, but the man could hold his cans, no doubt! I went dry when the pandemic started; the day we can all agree this particular international nightmare is "over," I'm buying a case of mixed natural wine and flying back to the US for beer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:53am Brian in UK:

Hello TDK60. Trust you are well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:53am Niall:

Finnish is the best. I should find a radio announcer who'll just read every song title in the Pan Sonic discography.
  7:54am Toothgrinder Tom:

Churchill’s copious drinking despite his age and weight and need to keep his head clear is an inspiration to me - a bad one.
Swag For Life Member 7:55am Ted in Montclair:

Jeffrey, re Churchill: i don’t think there’s any ‘perhaps’ about it. A few years back I read Churchill/Orwell, a neat double bio by Thomas Ricks. During the summer of 1940, when German fighter planes would cross the Channel to London, Churchill would run to the roof of his building to see the planes firsthand, despite the danger. The Nazi planes could cross the Channel from France in just six minutes. Six minutes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:55am Jeffrey Davison:

Niall, Churchill did guide the U.K. as well as anyone could during WWII, but the record of most imperialist nations is a mixed one, for sure. And believe me, I am not recommending Churchill's daily dosing, but amazing that he was able to function amazingly well. For sure, it would NOT work for me, or most of us.

- Remove the Odor.
After you are certain the furniture is completely dry, mist it with a mixture of one-quart water and ¼ cup of white vinegar and allow it to sit outside until it is dry again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:56am Niall:

@Jeffrey Davison Churchill's breakfast would send me straight back to bed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:56am Brian in UK:

Churchill might be in the Van Morrison mould; you might like his music/achievements but glad he does not live next door.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:56am Jeffrey Davison:

Ted, I know about Churchill going to the rooftops. I'm less familiar with the accomplishments of all the kings and queens...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:57am Jeffrey Davison:

Brian, ha! Maybe, but he'd have been the best dinner guest!
  7:57am Toothgrinder Tom:

Hey Ted, I read that double bio too!
Avatar 7:58am Fredericks:

What's the deal with Hibernardo 자아 VIII?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:59am Jeffrey Davison:

Fredericks, thanks!
Toothgrinder Tom, Brian, and Niall: I'm watering my Macallan right this second.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:59am Jeffrey Davison:

Fredericks...dunno. Folks have not been able to clicky-star it. He is from Portugal.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:00am Dropof Goldensun:

Good morning all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:01am Niall:

I started with Scotch, then on to rye, mostly skipped Irish because I found it too sweet and for the last seven years or so, to my great surprise, I'm a bourbon man.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:01am Jeffrey Davison:

Good morning Dropof Goldensun!
FYI, all, I added the title in English to Hibernardo's track, and was able to clicky star it.
  8:01am Toothgrinder Tom:

Hopefully when marijuana is legally for sale here I can cut back on my drinking.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:01am Dropof Goldensun:

Jeffrey I like your ambient choices.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:02am Niall:

But my real joy is homemade bitters, amari and vermouth, and it's very difficult to find high-proof neutral grain and fruit spirits where I live, now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:03am Niall:

I gotta buy a wee van and drive with my dog to the continent.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:03am Jeffrey Davison:

Dropof Goldensun, thank you!
Niall, I like 'em all, but bourbon and Scotch, then rye, then Irish... I have not delved too far into bitters or vermouth, so I have lots to explore...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:04am Niall:

@Toothgrinder Tom: the dream! FWIW, I found kratom invaluable for weaning off. I'll stop there because this may not be the appropriate venue for such talk.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:04am Brian in UK:

Mezcal gets my attention.
  8:05am Buddha of Suburbia:

Good morning!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:05am Niall:

@Brian in UK: Mexico City was a dream for widely-available, cheap and awesome mezcal. It was everywhere.

I started out on burgundy but soon hit the harder stuff.
  8:08am Toothgrinder Tom:

I got the impression from Stalin’s biography that he mostly drank red wine and occasionally overindulged. I didn’t know Truman was a heavy drinker, though he was of that Prohibition-era generation.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:09am Dropof Goldensun:

Hey Boodz!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:09am Niall:

All this talk of hooch makes me want... to get some pu-er going.
  8:10am jn34282:

@Toothgrinder tom truman did like to strije a blow for liberty
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:10am Brian in UK:

Niall, our daughter went there a while back and brought some with her. The bottles are wonderful.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:10am Jeffrey Davison:

jn34282, I dunno, but there is a fascinating new book out now about the daughters of Roosevelt, Churchill and Harriman at Yalta, and what they did to aid their fathers and thus their great influence on post-war Europe, especially. Untold until now. The book is The Daughters of Yalta, by Catherine Grace Katz.
Avatar 8:11am Sylvia (France-NYC):

Ha, I'm on the phone with Michael, @Jeffrey, and listening to Lucy Railton's, and I was asking "do you think we should get a violin?" and then... anyway, thank you <3
  8:12am jn34282:

@Jeffery will look for it at the library, thanks kind of a history buff
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:12am Jeffrey Davison:

Ted, good one.
Brian and Niall: Mezcal is probably an acquired taste, like Scotch, but another avenue of exploration!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:13am Niall:

Jeffrey: another book for my eternal stack. Thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:13am Jeffrey Davison:

Sylvia, you're welcome...sorry for the delay in adding to the playlist.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:17am Jeffrey Davison:

Swag For Life Member 8:22am 12539:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:22am Jeffrey Davison:

See ya, 12539, have a good weekend.
Avatar 8:22am Zoot:

I’ve been told not to take Ambien with alcohol.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:24am Jeffrey Davison:

Zoot, that seems like excellent advice. I'd caution against alcohol and many meds...especially most prescription stuff. Check with the doctor!
  8:24am jn34282:

@Zoot not nice to take pills with any alcohol
Swag For Life Member 8:25am Roadside Picnic:

That Sarah Davachi is really good sounding- bit of Phillip Glass ? Need to look for more.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:25am Brian in UK:

@Sylvia (France-NYC) good work. What an amazing audience this station has.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:26am Jeffrey Davison:

Sarah Davachi's work is great, we were played alongside her on another show (in the UK) recently, that's funny how things collide

Just took the ambien (no alcohol) but very slowly waking.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:31am Niall:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:42am melinda:

Hi everyone
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:43am Brian in UK:

Jeffrey, I imagine that you are not going to end the show with the Dubliners & the Pogues playing the Irish Rover.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:43am Jeffrey Davison:

Zoot, we do have great t-shirts!
Sylvia, yeah, floating, I guess that's the vibe, and Zoot, agree (happily) to hypnotic and hip.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:44am Jeffrey Davison:

Good morning, melinda!
Brian, no, of course not. I have some speed metal lined up.
Avatar 8:44am TDK60:

Jeffrey, I could drift back to dreamland but have fought it off with more caffeine powder added to the eggnog.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:45am Brian in UK:

Musical Genres the board game for all the family.

@TDK60 I miss eggnog :/ I could make some, though. When I first tried it, I was almost disgusted by eggnog, but it grew on me

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:52am Aaron Working In Newark:

Wonderful show. Thank you. Have a great weekend everyone.
Avatar 8:52am Sylvia (France-NYC):

@TDK60 I made eggnog once, last year, you need a lot of yolks. Store bought is good enough
In France there's no sour cream either, and I just love sour cream :/
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:52am Jeffrey Davison:

Zoot, I promise we will get back to some songs next week. I didn't find a ton of new things I loved, but by next week all should be well.
Thanks Aaron!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:53am Nulsh:

I`ll see you all next week.
Avatar 8:53am Zoot:

It’s all good.
