Good morning Nulsh and Sem! Some Robbie Basho rescued from some trove somewhere, and I think unknown to exist until now. There is a 5 CD set and a LP of selections.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:15am Jeffrey Davison:

Good morning Heidee and Niall!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:15am Niall:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:16am Niall:

I left my acoustic guitar in the US and I'm fairly pining for it now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:16am Jeffrey Davison:

The Basho release is just out, and Jack Rose passed December 5th, 2009.
Avatar 6:17am Heidee:

Fáilte @Niall :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:18am Niall:

December is the cruelest month.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:20am Jeffrey Davison:

I saw Jack Rose only once, on a bill with Sean Smith, Max Ochs and Glenn Jones. Jones played third, and was absolutely amazing. I'm sitting there, thinking "how can anyone play better than that?", and then Jack Rose played...
Avatar 6:21am Sylvia (France-NYC):

Hello Niall, hello Heidee!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:21am Nulsh:

Sylvia! My pleasure! Wonderful stuff!

Hey Heidee!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:23am Jeffrey Davison:

I believe that Joseph Allred is a worthy successor to Basho and Rose. His music is deeply spiritual.
Avatar 6:24am Heidee:

Beautiful set, Jeffrey.

Steel string heaven right now.
Don Standberg is new to me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:35am Jeffrey Davison:

Good morning SmokinJ and thanks!
@Nulsh: Strandberg is from California, an older gent.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:37am Nulsh:

Jeffrey, Standberg track has nice dynamics and a great atmosphere. Reminiscent of that album Rainer Ptacek recorded in an old church in the desert (the name escapes me!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:38am Nulsh:

Jeez Louise, this is lovely too. Keep em coming Jeffrey!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:41am Jeffrey Davison:

Thanks Nulsh. I don't know which Ptacek album you're referring to. Did a quick check on Discogs and didn't see....

Moody Luna the Moon still in deep Scorpio til 21:39 Eastern time today
- then She joins the Sun already in philosophical Sagittarius heading to the New Moon Solar Eclipse on Tuesday.
Weather permitting - they say a chance of multicolored meteors to join the after sunset skyshow this weekend - with the famous Jupiter-Saturn Conjunction southwesterly & Mars all bright & orange more to the east...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:44am Jeffrey Davison:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:44am YETI BOB:

I love guitar music. So nice to wake up to this show today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:44am YETI BOB:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:45am Jeffrey Davison:

Revolution Rabbit Nov63, good morning and thanks. I was upstate last weekend, hoping so much to see the stars at night and it was overcast every day!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:46am Jeffrey Davison:

YETI BOB, good morning! Kensington Blues is probably my favorite Jack Rose release, and though I have the CD, I ordered an LP this week!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:46am YETI BOB:

These other guitar players are all new to me! Thanks JD. and also thanks Nulsh for the Rainer link
  Swag For Life Member 6:48am jeremyo:

Morning all, late to the party but I brought a bottle. Iztok Koren is a new name to me, clearly one to catch up on
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:48am Nulsh:

YETI BOB, no worries. The track Cheeseball popped into my head when I heard the Strandberg track Jeffrey Played.
I haven't listened to it in years.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:50am Jeffrey Davison:

Good morning jeremyo! Koren is new to me, as was Jacob Brockway, Gnadha Gnadha and Pinokio...

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:05am YETI BOB:

@Buddha: Good morning!!
@Sylvia: It's a nautical term
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:05am Jeffrey Davison:

Good morning Buddha of Suburbia!
@Sylvia...good question...dunno.
@YETI BOB, thanks!
Avatar 7:05am Sylvia (France-NYC):

oh, I had no idea! thanks @Yeti Bob
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:06am YETI BOB:

it means operating a ship with the minumum number of people. goes way back. Also Fred Frith, Tom Cora and Zeena Parkins had a great band called Skelton Crew back in the 80s!
Avatar 7:07am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Interesting ! The phrase not common in French ?

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:13am Jeffrey Davison:

I'm on my pal Guo Wengui's yacht right now, actually...
Avatar 7:14am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Very British it seems.
Saying DJs like Scott Wiiliams were 'being their own skeleton' - & I thot Be Your Own Skeleton was a pretty good phrase for 2020. One Astrologer called our pile-up of planets now in late Capricorn the Boneyard...

I found a really nice mossy rock yesterday while out cleaning up on the hillside. It makes a comfy seat. Once we get through this Covid, you're welcome to come sit a spell.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:43am Jeffrey Davison:

@Sylvia: Phoebe gets in there!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44am Jeffrey Davison:

@RRCC: thanks!
Avatar 7:46am Sylvia (France-NYC):

it really strikes a chord, I wanted to take my kids to California this year, so that they could meet with our people there...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:50am Jeffrey Davison:

@Sylvia: so much is in abeyance, as we're trying to make it to the vaccine.
FYI, on the radio yesterday, it was stated that the vaccine does not prevent a person from contracting covid. It prevents a person from getting sick from it, NOT from getting and passing along. Something to bear in mind. Even more important, then, that enough people get it to create here immunity, or we will be in the weeds for a long time.
Avatar 7:50am Strandlund:

Good morning Jeffrey. Good Morning all. Woke up to 6 inches of snow here in Iowa...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:52am Jeffrey Davison:

Strandlund, good morning! That's a good amount of snow. Here in NYC, we're supposed to get a heavy snowfall mid-week.
Avatar 7:55am Strandlund:

I'm not looking forward to blowing it off the driveway. It's a heavy wet snow!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:58am Jeffrey Davison:

FYI, Jolie Holland was born in Texas. She has moved around a bit. Not sure where she is now. Her Bandcamp page says L.A.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:08am Deborah:

@Jeffrey Davison
So important! I am just at the point of almost viscerally missing museums, coffee places, meeting others; even the campus art gallery and cafe! The vaccine will not act as a preventive and that has to be publicized by the powers that are. In the meantime I am pondering the safety of an hour's visit to the Montclair Art Museum. Sort of have to have it.
Anyone visit a museum yet?
Avatar 8:11am Zoot:

Painting a museum in my house
Avatar 8:12am Sylvia (France-NYC):

@Deborah I haven't, and I'm missing it too. I think they're safer than grocery stores
Avatar 8:12am Zoot:

Finished seven paintings since March
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:13am Jeffrey Davison:

Deborah, I hear you. The only museum I've been to since early 2020 was the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Met a friend I hadn't seen in a very long time, went early. Only 25% capacity allowed, but it didn't reach that until the afternoon, if at all. Great museum, and great to reconnect with a friend who had lived out of the USA for decades. That was a couple of weeks ago.
I may try and go to the Whitney...
  Swag For Life Member 8:14am 12539:

Jeffrey, maybe it's just me, but I think you're on a roll today. If I were one of the kids I'd post you a fire emoji.
Avatar 8:15am TDK60:

Just saw that the American Museum of Natural History (I call it the dinosaur museum) in NYC is open, taking limited visitors on a timed basis.
  8:15am brian:

wow I'm loving this show. first time tuning in.
Avatar 8:16am Strandlund:

I work at a museum here in Des Moines...We've been lucky since we reopened a few months ago. We only can have around 60 people a day now compared to 200+ we had normally on a daily basis. @Sylvia...I think you're right about them being safer than grocery stores.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:16am Jeffrey Davison:

12539, thanks!
TDK60...I'm overdue for a visit to the AMNH, for sure.
brian, welcome and thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:16am melinda:

Morning all
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:17am Jeffrey Davison:

Good morning, melinda!
Avatar 8:17am TDK60:

Jeffrey, it might be a nicer visit with less people; it's usually packed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:19am Jeffrey Davison:

TDK60, agreed. Some of the museums can get so crowded that it can be difficult to enjoy it, and take it in. Especially MoMA, and weekends at the Met, especially for special exhibitions.
Avatar 8:20am Zoot:

I once worked at the Metropolitan and I could walk through before it opened.
It was great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:20am Deborah:

The Montclair Art Museum cannot be compared with major venues, including the Newark Museum. It is within walking distance and provides meditation and connection with a world that is so missed. Will go before Jan. 3. There is an exhibit by Frederico Uribe that I need to see.
Avatar 8:20am Sylvia (France-NYC):

the Vida Americana exhibit at The Whitney is amazing, we saw it pre-pandemic
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:22am Deborah:

Pre-pandemic I saw a lot, was going to see more. I felt good. Then, the door shut.
Avatar 8:22am Sylvia (France-NYC):

I had just renewed the annual membership :(
Avatar 8:24am Sylvia (France-NYC):

@Zoot @8:20 that must have been great! We like to go to The Met during late opening hours, it's not as crowded
  Swag For Life Member 8:24am jeremyo:

that Yakka Doon track was lovely. I felt like I knew exactly who it was without being able to put a name to it, it sounded so assured and familiar, but I don't actually recognise the name at all. Though I see now she's from County Durham and that she supported the incredible Richard Dawson this year, which is a stamp of approval (you really should have a listen to him if you don't know him already)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:26am Jeffrey Davison:

@Deborah, the Montclair Art Museum is a lovely museum. Worth visiting if one is in the area, for sure.
@Zoot, lucky you! A dream of mine.
Sylvia, I let my memberships lapse, alas, trying to preserve the bankbook.
@jeremyo: I do like Richard Dawson, but all of his work doesn't hit me the same way, which most probably is me and not him!
  8:27am Hi from Holland:

  8:27am Dennis Diken:

Good morning Jeffrey and all!
Avatar 8:27am Zoot:

Newark Museum opening early 2021.
I’m in Newark a few times a year will have to go.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:27am Jeffrey Davison:

Hi from Holland and Dennis Diken, good morning!
Avatar 8:28am Sylvia (France-NYC):

@Zoot do you have a website or else where we can see your paintings?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:29am YETI BOB:

Newark Museum has a really fantastic collection of Tibetan Buddhist art. It's been years since I've been there but I remember it vividly
Avatar 8:30am Zoot:

I went to the Van Gogh museum in Holland.I don’t have a website.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:30am YETI BOB:

I havent' been to an art museum since March. I've been walking around the city photographing graffiti to get my art-fix.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:31am YETI BOB:

Avatar 8:31am Zoot:

Taking a lot of photos myself when I take my walks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:33am Jeffrey Davison:

@YETI BOB, I was only there once. Need to revisit!
Zoot, I just read Portrait of Doctor Gachet, by Cynthia Saltzman, about the great portrait. Never been to The Netherlands, but the Van Gogh Museum is on my list!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:33am Jeffrey Davison:

Fascinating book, by the way...
Avatar 8:34am Zoot:

@Jeffrey.Is that the painting that he used to patch his chicken coop?
Avatar 8:35am Zoot:

Will order the book.
  8:35am Hi from Holland:

Very nice transition from Arborea -> Karima Walker -> Time and Temperature. Now if the neighbors could stop using their power drill that would be even nicer :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:37am Deborah:

Just reserved a ticket for Dec. 25. Excited! Have to make sure that the museum is open that day, however. Might move it up if I cannot wait. I have reached that point; took a while.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:37am Jeffrey Davison:

Zoot, no...not so far as I know! Saltzman mentions a painting (and maybe there is more than one) where van Gogh attached a piece of a towel to a canvas, as that was all he had at hand!

Zoot, since the book was published, the painting has changed hands two times. Amazing story. In a similar vein, The Vanishing Velasquez, by Laura Cumming. Perhaps an even more riveting tale.

Portrait of Dr Felix Rey.That’s the one that patched the chicken coop.

@Hi from Holland: thanks!
@Deborah: enjoy!
@Zoot: thanks!

"After fifteen days in the hospital, Vincent returned to his yellow house. Not long after, he painted the doctor who was taking care of him for so many days. Although Dr. Rey accepted the portrait as the gift it was, in later years he admitted he never liked it. In fact, his mother used the painting to patch a hole in the chicken-coop, until it was sold in 1901 to the artist Charles Camoin, a friend of Henri Matisse, who followed in Van Gogh’s footsteps and went to Arles, where he found the portrait in Doctor Rey’s backyard. Now it is in the collection of the State Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow."

@jeffrey I was sure you'd know Richard Dawson, and certainly much of what he does might not be a great fit for this show, but there's no right or wrong in what grabs you! But when I watched a (remote) concert of his recently I was a bit of a wreck after watching his final a cappella song, Ghost Of A Tree. Good lord, what a story he can tell, and with what power!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:50am Jeffrey Davison:

@Bop Monroe: wow.
@jeremyo: Dawson is a great musician. He may be one of those who I don't fully appreciate right away, but one day in the future, I'll be listening to the radio and it'll hit me.

This New Bums has a bit of a Velvets vibe, to me...
Avatar 8:51am Marc Francis:

This song has a total Primal Scream feel to it.

This show was particularly satisfying to do...
  Swag For Life Member 8:55am jeremyo:

@Yeti Bob, no definitely the same guy ;-)
@Zoot black humoured indeed! And bursting with compassion and insight. I was also a bit slow to pick up on him, saw him on TV, thought it incredible but couldn't quite get to grips with it. His most recent album sorted me out. And the Hen Oggledd after that.
Thanks for the fab show @Jeffrey!
Avatar 8:56am Marc Francis:

@Jeffrey Davison: Their sound changed a lot over their career but there was this period with an album called Screamadelica, the Dixie Narco EP, and Give Out But Don't Give up that has a sound and feel like that New Bums song.
