Good mornin' folks!
Avatar 6:06am Ruth Booth:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:07am Jeffrey Davison:

Good morning Ruth, 12539, Really Lisa, Sylvia (France-NYC) and Nulsh! Kick out the jams!
  6:07am Mark R,:

I'm one of the early birds this morning, I see! Hello, everybody. This Nash to Stoudemire track is intriguing and gorgeous, Jeffrey. Perfect for the still-dark moments before sunrise.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:09am Jeffrey Davison:

Good morning Mark R!
  6:09am clarke:

howdy all! been lying awake for hours, unfortunately (but, with good radio). will probably drift back into sleeep, but with great radio.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:10am Your Ace From Exchange Place:

Morning, Jeffrey!
Morning, Ruth!
Morning, Everybody!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:11am Kevin-san:

Good morning Planeteers! Took me a long time to replace 'tap' with 'faucet' when I moved to the US :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:11am Jeffrey Davison:

Good morning clarke and Your Ace From Exchange Place!
  6:12am Mark R,:

Jeffrey, looks like you won't have to move to Canada...yet.
Avatar 6:12am Ruth Booth:

  6:13am clarke:

jeff - ever listen to an album by Cryo Chamber called Songs For An Empty World?
  6:14am clarke:

a 'new' "discovery" of mine - it might be right up yer alley.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:17am Jeffrey Davison:

Good morning Kevin-san, and tap went out of common use some while back, though it's still used. Tap dancers, too.
clarke: I'm holding my breath until Jan. 20. Long shot, I know, but I don't trust this WH and the flying monkeys.
And I don't know that Cryo Chamber, thanks!
  6:20am clarke:

oh my sorrow!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:22am Jeffrey Davison:

When I first listened to Basinski, I didn't give it proper attention, and going back now and listening to the earlier compositions, I'm kind of amazed that I didn't get it right away.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:22am Gavin in Bristol:

Good Morning all from a grey drizzly Bristol. Its good to be back. Its been a long time since i've managed to listen in person. That first track was Aces. and love me some Basinski.
  6:23am clarke:

funny how one's mood can color a listening, sometimes.
  6:24am clarke:

...and than, funny how something can be so pervasive to bypass any mood!!
Avatar 6:24am Heidee:

Well hello-hello my musical friends!
Today Jeffrey puts me into the element of air, I think. (Last week, it was the water.) I am floating...
  6:25am rob gee:

Sounds great
  6:25am clarke:

float on!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:27am Jeffrey Davison:

Good morning Gavin in Bristol, and thanks!
clarke: exactly right...
Good morning, Heidee and rob gee, and thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:29am Kevin-san:

Jeffrey @6:17 For a while, my faucet dancing was the talk of Hoboken!
  6:31am clarke:

i have a leaky faucet in new orleans - it drips tapwater
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:32am Jeffrey Davison:

Kevin-san, I hope you turned that opportunity into a youtube channel.
clarke: why, that's simply bilge water!
Avatar 6:35am Sem:

Good morning, Jeffrey; hello, Ruth!, and greets Shrunken Planet folk from the placid sunrise shores of the mighty Bay of Fundy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:37am Jeffrey Davison:

Good morning Sem!
Avatar 6:38am TDK60:

Good morning Jeffrey and shrinkians.
  6:42am clarke:

ha ha YES JD! i believe most folks would be surprised at the amount the tapwater in summer comes out like warm bathwater on the "cold" setting.
  6:43am clarke:

this City Planning is getting IT!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:43am Jeffrey Davison:

Good morning TDK60!
clarke: It's probably worse where you are, but we have usually have a day or so of brownish water in spring.
  6:44am LiXiviated Life:

My family would come up to Ft Lee from Jersey City in the summer.
Through Hoboken
Names that mark time and history
Before the homes and high rises that face Manhattan
There’s a park under the GWB
The Palisades to the east
and the Hudson on the west
I made the trip yesterday.
Sat on a bench
watching the River
pulse and flow
The River has always been there
but never the same.
I was there
and I was somewhere else
and tomorrow
  6:45am clarke:

well, despite our water coming from the Miss River, the processing plant does a very good job - aside from a few boil alerts in 'hoods, etc.
Avatar 6:45am Fredericks:

Signed in to put a star by City Planning. Wonderful stuff. Thanks for bringing it to my attention, Jeffrey. Good morning to all.
  6:46am clarke:

youtube is having trouble 'finding' City Planning - the band
  6:47am clarke:

i still filter my own water, btw.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:48am Jeffrey Davison:

Good morning LiXiviated Life, and thank you, as usual. Who wrote that?
Fredericks: good morning and thanks!
clarke: go on bandcamp to find city planning. (and filtering, good idea)
Avatar 6:49am TDK60:

LixLife. I live on the Manhattan side from there. The Palisades are awesome. When I was young I got to go to the amusement park, Palisades Park, up on top of the cliffs.
  6:50am clarke:

filtering in general: good idea!
  6:51am LiXiviated Life:

That’s my life JD.
Ps palisades are on the west and the river is east.
Which is how you can tell I wrote it because I am often lost without a clue. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:51am Jeffrey Davison:

TDK60 and LiXiviated Life: you are probably aware of this, but other listeners may be surprised to learn about the legacy of the Rockefellers and the Palisades:
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:52am Stanley:

Heigh-ho fellow Earthlings.
Happy to listen along to this lovely music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:52am Jeffrey Davison:

LiXiviated Life: I think the planet is upside down, so you would be correct.
Good morning Stanley and thanks!
Avatar 6:52am TDK60:

I was going to question the directions Lix, but you corrected.
  6:53am The Butterman:

Glad I woke early on a Sat. For this perfect soundtrack for a quiet morning and sunrise.
  6:55am LiXiviated Life:

Palisades Amusement Park was Oz
Bright lights at the top of the cliff.
There was also Uncle Miley’s in Bayonne NJ
Did not have the same panache as Palisades Park but for a city kid it was still wonderful.
Avatar 6:59am TDK60:

Lix, I was/am scared of heights and once on the ferris wheel I got stuck on top for a while, with the Hudson and NYC below me. I was nervous, had to look at my shoes. / I read that the owners of P.P. knew and didn't care there was a big hole in a fence through which children snuck in.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:59am Jeffrey Davison:

Good morning The Butterman and thanks!
LiXiviated Life, I also went to Palisades as a kid, but only once or twice. Went to Rye Playland also.
  6:59am Andrew in Toronto:

Good morning Jeffrey and all other Planeteers.
  7:00am somalisa:

i love you jeff!! listening from sunny barcelona right now : )
  7:01am clarke:

what/where was Rye Playland?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:01am Jeffrey Davison:

Good morning Andrew in Toronto!
Good morning somalisa, and thank you...nice to be loved! xx
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:02am Jeffrey Davison:

clarke: Rye, in Westchester County
Avatar 7:02am litmus0001:

What an awesome way to wake up! Thx Jeff!

Not to be a whore, but how can I get my music to you, Jeff? I think you would dig it!

Also, the Snivelling Cowards can burn in Hell. (That's going to be a title...)
Avatar 7:02am TDK60:

They just mouth their love of democracy; they don't care.
  7:05am Mark R,:

Nash to Stoudemire may be referring to former NBA players (and current head coach/assistant coach, respectively, of the Nets), Steve Nash and A'mare Stoudemire, since the first page of google search on Nash to Stoudemire calls up their amazing career together on the Phoenix Suns. Searching M.J. Lenderman does not bring up the record label but rather the recording artist. So wow, man, I dunno.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:06am Nulsh:

This is some top pickin'!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:07am Jeffrey Davison:

litmus0001: good morning, and thanks! Email me at shrink at wfmu dot org and we'll take it from there.
TDK60: what I just cannot understand is how the very people that the Republicans particularly hurt, the poor and working class across a wide swath of this country, keep voting for them, and all the while their slice of America dwindles. Mind you, the Democrats don't get off scott-free here, but generally don't have the contempt of the Republicans toward their base.
  7:07am frank h:

so what's so patriotic about massive election fraud perpetrated by the DNC in collusion with the main stream media, high tech social media and corrupt pollsters?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:08am Jeffrey Davison:

Mark R: good one! Sounds very plausible! I don't follow basketball that much, so didn't know this.
Nulsh: agreed, Davis is fantastic.
  7:08am Curious Tom:

Mornin' all!
Avatar 7:08am TDK60:

Election tabulators have found no voter fraud. The idea is a lie spread by the president.
  7:08am Mark R,:

The big orange baby will eventually leave, but he and his 70 million cult members are going to continue to be a thorn in our sides for many years to come. Even after he dies, the cult will remain, with some of them probably insisting that he's still alive, living in some secret place, with some hip grifter claiming that he's receiving messages from Dear Leader for how to dismantle the Democrat/Communist cabal of elitist pedophiles and baby eaters. Hoo boy, we've come a long way from crackpots standing on corners handing out leaflets, haven't we?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:09am Jeffrey Davison:

frank h: we're all waiting for this proof, and the RNC has an army of lawyers all across this country looking. Where is the proof?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:09am Nulsh:

Howdy Curious Tom! Whit fettle?
  7:10am Curious Tom:

Howdy Nulsh! Chipotle Sauce cooking day here at Casa del Curious. You?
Avatar 7:10am Zoot:

Little Rudy Tootie an Donnie Doody trying their best to turn the US into a sht hole country.
  7:10am frank h:

I guess TDK60 doesn't care about a FREE AND FAIR election
Avatar 7:11am Sylvia (France-NYC):

@Jeffrey: Gop and their base loathe the same people, so no matter how bad things are for the base, they will cheer when their black neighbor is being very badly treated. I suffer but I enjoy watchin you suffering more.
  7:11am clarke:

i can see it's time for me to listen and not read. fantastic show - as ALWAYS!! nex'time!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:12am Jeffrey Davison:

Good morning Curious Tom!
Mark R: so much damage has already been done to democracy and the rule of law in this country by these phony patriots, whose goals are only power and money. And yes, I fear we are in for more of this even after January 20th
  7:12am frank h:

zoot. yea wait till AOC and Bernie get control of gov't. socialist utopia! YAY!
Avatar 7:13am Sylvia (France-NYC):

going on a different road, ie acceptance, humility, openness, requires self reflection. A lot of people can't self reflect, they are too afraid to look. (it ain't pretty, it never is at first)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:13am Jeffrey Davison:

frank h: links to proof please. PROOF which you nor any of the RNC or Trump people can find, although Rudy did mention My Cousin Vinnie. Great lawyer. Off the f'in deep end.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:13am Niall:

Pretty stuff, here. I don't think I've heard of SunDog.
Avatar 7:13am TDK60:

Contrary, Frank H. Election monitors have found no voter fraud! FACT. But, voter suppression efforts by the Repubz, that does exist.
Avatar 7:14am TDK60:

Yes, Yay! for AOC.
Avatar 7:14am Zoot:

Vote for me and I’ll set you free.
  7:14am frank h:

tdk60 so having to show an ID to vote is voter suppression? LOL!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:14am Nulsh:

Curious Tom! Chipotle sauce you say? Yass!
I am currently soaking up toons with a coffee and starting a new strip today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:15am Jeffrey Davison:

frank: ain't gonna happen. Bernie will have a say, for sure, but Biden will govern from the middle, to the dismay of the more progressive Dems, and I'm afraid not enough progress will be made, especially if the Senate stands in Biden's way, as they did with Clinton and Obama.
  7:15am frank h:

Progressive is repressive
Avatar 7:16am TDK60:

Good to meet you frank h. Have you been here before? Spreading fallacy your forte?
Avatar 7:17am zivilars:

Hi everybody and thanks for your show, Jeffrey – wasn't able to listen live much in the last weeks, but always catching up in the archives ... This is great.
  7:17am frank h:

TDK60 seems as if you kinda own these comment threads
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:17am Jeffrey Davison:

frank h: with all due respect, neither your opinion nor mine has much weight. It's our actions, so before we say this is going to happen, or that, let's see.
  7:17am Listener Bop Monroe:

greetings from crisp sunrise-y Tannersville.
got to go to Palisades Park with the YMCA day camp 2 years in a row and then it closed.
then 30 years later, my band pocket monster played for NYC Transit Workers Appreciation Day at Rye Playland. They fed AND paid us!
and of course Coney Island is always evolving.

by the way, Frank H, get f'd and go away.
  7:18am Buddha of Suburbia:

Morning Jeffrey! Morning Shrunken Planeteers!
Avatar 7:18am Zoot:

Hard to make predictions, especially about the future.
  7:19am frank h:

oh here we go with the vulgarity....... typical
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:19am Jeffrey Davison:

Zoot, you've got my vote, and welcome.
Niall, good morning and thanks!
zivilars, good morning, and thanks as well!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:19am Niall:

Ah, 2020. The year "emotional labor" extended to humoring the OAN and Fox News demographic because there's absolutely no point in engaging with them in good faith anymore. I'm guessing Mark Levin's off the air right now, so Frank H is taking the the conversation to what Frank H supposes is the next logical venue.
  7:19am Curious Tom:

Sounds like a braw way to spend a day, Nulsh.
  7:20am frank h:

CBS NBC ABC CNN MSNBC WAPOST NYT etc seems you have lots of choices.... and lets not forget taxpayer funded NPR!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:21am deborah:

Good Morning WFMUniverse!
@LiXiviated Life Love your words this morning. From the area and can see it well. At this point even miss the commute to Jersey City, especially the Newark Light Rail passing by Branch Brook Park. I grew up in Paterson.
Avatar 7:21am TDK60:

Nope, I don't own this chat board. But I do voice my opinions until maybe the DJ says to let up, hee! Each show's DJ usually lets us know what the tenor might be.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:22am Jeffrey Davison:

While I'm talking about proof, how about the proof, that Dr. Fauci said that there would be a spike in the fall, and that we should all wear masks to at least help, and now 200,000 people A DAY getting the virus, many of whom STILL believe it's a hoax. What the fuck.
  7:22am Listener Bop Monroe:

JD right on!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:22am Jeffrey Davison:

Following the advice of a MORON, Trump
  7:23am frank h:

but remember the real hoax was the left using the pandemic against Trump. get your facts straight
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:23am Nulsh:

Avatar 7:23am Zoot:

Oh Donnie Boy the votes are counting.
But not for you.
Avatar 7:23am Sylvia (France-NYC):

some don't want to listen, they only aim to provoke.

Beautiful music on this morning, J
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:23am deborah:

@frank h: Really? Progressive is repressive; sounds like a sick slogan from a spaghetti can. Anyway, if a society does not progress, it can become latent and stagnant in many ways.
Avatar 7:23am Really Lisa:

Off for now. Archives are in my near future.
Wishing everyone a safe and peaceful weekend.
Thank you, Jeffrey.
  7:24am frank h:

i was listening and then it got ruined by someone making it political
  7:24am Listener Bop Monroe:

ok, can we block this ahole? its too early for this garbage.

Swag For Life Member 7:25am 12539:

Jeffrey, I love your show and I admire your efforts to treat everyone fairly, but not everyone has your good faith.
  7:25am frank h:

sorry Jefferey love you show not your politics
Avatar 7:25am Zoot:

All the facts have been de-facted.Shut up and play your guitar.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:26am Jeffrey Davison:

Okay, seems like we cannot agree to disagree, so let's forget the politics for the next 90 minutes.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:35am Deborah:

@Jeffrey Davison You know that Sunshine, Lollipops and Roses are my comment preferences! Is this turning into Wake and Bake? (Said with love).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:35am Jeffrey Davison:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:36am Jeffrey Davison:

Deborah, more like Wake and Roast this morning, alas.
Avatar 7:36am Zoot:

The more the merrier
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:36am Nulsh:

Sylvia & Jeffrey, I need to tread carefully. Unicorns are my country's national animal! I'll probably have to pay some sort of penance now!

  7:38am Buddha of Suburbia:

This is such sweet guitar music. Love it, Jeffrey. Was going to give you a hard time for not sending me your card exchange, but all's good in the hood with this gentle music. Hi TDK60!! Hello BloomingDALE!
  7:38am Listener Bop Monroe:

Yes Deborah, good advise. Thnx.
Palisades Park had a ride called the Round-up, the one that spins and pins you to the wall while whole unit rises 90 degrees on a long arm. loved that.

Avatar 7:39am Zoot:

And a cuppa Brodie’s.
  7:40am Ted in Montclair:

This lilting track reminds me of Mason Williams’ Classical Gas—a tune freshly in mind as it was played on the episode of The Queen’s Gambit I saw yesterday.

@Listener Bop Monroe Didn't go to Palisades much but Kiddie Land and later Freedom Land had to suffice.
@ WFMU Listener John Lol. Whoops, I can't comment on anything other than unicorns and their culture and environment. So, are unicorns real or are they a myth?

Avatar 7:46am TDK60:

Sylvia, I live near the Cloisters, been there a lot, seen that unicorn tapestry. A lot of the medieval art seems a tad grim. Not the stained glass windows tho.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:46am Deborah:

For a while, back in the 80s, Lisa Frank's Unicorn stickers were seen everywhere. I loved the colors and the sparkles! They even showed up on notebooks of Upsala College students where I was a tutor and soon to be Learning Center director. Loved working at my alma mater, including WFMU!
