Mr Fab... basically vaporwave started out of internet nostalgia culture --- a lot of people were just slowing down songs and adding effects then it slowly mutated into this really interesting world... Where the music is a reflection of a certain aesthetic... kinda 80s neon lights an a patterns + 90s windows PC's + nostalgically desolate places like the mall .. there are tons of off shoots... some grabbing at more gothic sounds... some is very future forward and groovy... some sounds like it's on quaaludes or deserves to played in a mall ... the obnoxiousness of the aesthetic is really the reason it grew. Some of it is more "pop" vaporwave than others --- a lot of cassette and VHS releases

LUV LUV LUV... its always hard to find the really good stuff. So the trick is to find good DJ's and follow them. Always looking for the musical equivalent of Douglas Adams "Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster" with the musical effect similar to "having your brains smashed out by a slice of lemon wrapped round a large gold brick."

@Mr Fab --- Vaporwave is so hyper of aware of it's aesthetic .... It's so over top and obnoxious BUT that's what really gave it the foundation to grow... there are vaporwave artists, record labels, musicians, music video makers, meme makers, etc etc etc

a lot of them are doing releases on VHS with really cool graphics... some stuff is released on Floppy discs or other bizzare formats

I avoided malls like the plague! For the kids who didn’t like me and I didn’t like them. With no stores i was interested in. But Don-O xpent part of his upbringing in my neighborhood and he thought that the Northridge Mall was a marvel of modern architecture. Who knows, we may have seen each other, being dragged around by our parents.
