Joe! I’m good. Worked for the first time in weeks yesterday. Picked up a sterilized key and gate clicker in a sterilized bag from someone’s front porch and went to a giant building (you can guess where). I was the only one there. Felt a little spooky!
  12:31pm rw:

How are you?? Getting outside at all?

Greetings Mayuko and Listenerds!
  12:37pm JosephB:

That does sound spooky. With the way everything is going online I had a feeling there would still be work for you to do. I've been doing alright. I've been coupling my trips to the grocery store with long walks as a way to get outside.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm Dave in Vermont:

Mayuko is bringin' it!
Avatar 12:40pm fred:

@Dropof Goldensun: Didn't you go back to work yesterday too?
  12:42pm rw:

Joe, I have a few people hitting me up but I’ve been trying to avoid going out to work if I can. I HAVE been doing a little bike riding trying to stay off the popular routes. Got lost out in Chino or somewhere the other day and made friends with some cows.
  12:42pm rbrt:

I love a good wobbly sample
  12:43pm rw:

rbrt, right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm Dropof Goldensun:

@fred - last Friday I started my new hours which are only Fridays. So I did work yesterday and I'm now successfully collecting unemployment for the hours I was cut.
Avatar 12:45pm Mayuko:

Hey Dave B! Dropof!! Glad to have you guys here!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm Dropof Goldensun:

I got an email from my company telling me that I can work as many hours as necessary on Fridays as long as I don't exceed 25. Hmmm...
  12:46pm JosephB:

@rw Nice! I'm envious... my bike is in such a sorry state. Needs a new saddle and everything looks pretty questionable, haha. Chino would be a nice long ride for you, no?

But I haven’t been looking all that much either.

@fred - After Covid-19 I will expect another email informing me I can work 8 days a week!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm Ike:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm deesat:

good day, mayuko and fellow martians!
Avatar 12:50pm fred:

Looks like Russell Haswell has a project involving Xenakis' UPIC. I know someone who composed with that in its early days (I'm quite worries about him, he's not in good health and not a spring chicken). That project also involves Florian Hecker, who has an ongoing collaboration with my workplace (never met him though, I'm a lowly tech)

Avatar 12:58pm fred:

@Mayuko: Do you mean Mars, PA?
  12:59pm rw:

I have a buddy who lives in Jupiter, Florida
Avatar 12:59pm northguineahills:

@fred: You have no idea how long I researched Xenakasis' UPIC (it was about 20 years ago). There has to be an emulater out there somewhere for a phone or touchpad.... When I saw a Xenakis symphonic performance and ran into Lea, and had dinner afterwards, she was the only person who knew what UPIC was (so, another notch of respect to her). That was in 2013.
Avatar 1:02pm StringOFperils:

Greetings to all. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm Ike:

Big respect to Fred for knowing about Mars. PA. But what do you know about Intercourse?
Avatar 1:04pm northguineahills:

@rw: When I was a kid (1998), I partied my ass off w/ a friend in Miami. Didn't sleep. I drove back home north and realized I needed sleep. So, I slept on the beach in Jupiter. Then I realized the World Cup final was going to be on, so, I called a local Irish pub (the only venue in the US I knew would carry it back then), and the owner was so impressed I sought his pub out, he gave me a free meal and free beer...

Hey Mayuko, would you consider Paris?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm Rich in Washington:

One of my last outings before all this came up was to see Eugene Chadbourne in a tiny bar in Portland, which had a record bin in it, and was delighted to find a copy of You're No Good and picked it up.
Avatar 1:30pm Mayuko:

@Marie If it's Paris, France, then YES! If it's Paris Texas probably not.

  1:32pm Marie:

Right... @) I love Paris. Naples (Italy) is pretty amazing, oh, and then there is Barcelona!
Avatar 1:32pm fred:

@Marie: Berthillon might be a selling point for Paris, France (I've walked past it, but always at night when it was closed)
  1:33pm Marie:

Hey Fred, I'm not familiar with Berthillon...
Avatar 1:33pm Mayuko:

That particular Ptôse track did have strong DAF vibe.

  1:33pm JakeGould:

To everyone saying things like they have not gone outside; you should at least go out in front of wherever you live or even just take a walk in a quiet area.

Simply staying at home does not make things better. It makes you stir crazy. Just avoid crowds and wear a mask.
Avatar 1:33pm northguineahills:

@Rich: Someone stole my copy of You're No good :(

On the plus side, I got a cassette that was wrapped in Eugene Chadborne's stinky sock (at a live show), so, I have that going for me.....

Avatar 1:35pm Mayuko:

@Jake problem is I'm forgetting if I had gone outside yesterday or if it happened a week ago.
  1:36pm Marie:

@Fred--mmm, sounds well worth a visit
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36pm Rich in Washington:

I got to chat with Eugene for a bit and bought some of his handmade CDRs on his recommendation. My only gripe with his stuff is that they frequently don't fit into CD shelves. But I love the repurposed material aspect to them otherwise.
Avatar 1:37pm northguineahills:

The worst day of my life life happened in De Gaulle, which is hard to surpass after the overnights sleeping on the floor at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson airport. To top it off, when I was there, they discontinued Pierre Henry's ringrtone for announcements, I was so diappointed.

Avatar 1:37pm spodiodi:

re: places to move -- consider Bird-in-Hand, as long as you're looking at Intercourse, etc. and fwiw, the only guy i've known from Mars was a good guy, if not a little pretentious about music :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm Rich in Washington:

Hi Mayuko!
Avatar 1:38pm Mayuko:

what, an upscale ice cream place? THAT's where I'm movin'.
Avatar 1:39pm northguineahills:

There used to be an "upscale ice cream place" on Bedford and N 9th St in Williamsburg. Not sure it's still there now....
  1:40pm rbrt:

I want to hear what else is on this Moog album!
  1:40pm Marie:

@ Fred, huh, I guess St. Louis was French. Some of the best ice cream i ever had was hand made at a summer camp i went to as a kid, and then a pumpkin flavor home made at a small place in Michigan
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm Ike:

Wait, wait, Buttzville is in NJ, not PA (unless there's also one in PA). I've been to Buttzville, NJ. So PA doesn't have *that* high a score on town names. OTOH Bird-in-Hand is excellent. But wait, let's not forget New Mexico which has Truth or Consequences.
Avatar 1:40pm Mayuko:

@spodiodi i love your comment "guy i've known from Mars was a good guy" very much. (and thanks for tuning in!!)

@Henry: Being cumbersome and limited is why I love UPIC. (The last live show I did was just one metal weight, and a Tibetan bell. I've really stripped down my repetoire from the days when I used bring in tons of gear and instuments...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49pm Dropof Goldensun:

I had the successor to RGS in the app store for a while until Apple kicked it out for being too old. www.jhhl.net...

great album title
Avatar 1:50pm spodiodi:

Marie -- the media in question was a king of the hill episode, where their next-door-neighbor is berating their daughter about the importance of school, and warns she'll end up in a jockocracy if she doesn't do well (or something like that)
