Im going to Ice Cream Station!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:02pm Gaylord Fields:

Chris Christie would have funded the tunnel for that train.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:03pm chresti:

Hi!
  8:06pm choggie:

all aboard! The diabetes Express
  8:06pm zippie:

Cory booker was funding middle-c catholic priests to preach at newark city hall, I wonder what goes on there nowadays that Amiri Baraka's son is in charge
Avatar 8:08pm JakeGould:

Helo Gaylord!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:08pm sugarwolf!!!:

only five weeks until the time change!! and then the ice cream stand open, and I can go to Ice Cream Station
  8:08pm zippie:

fun times in newark
Avatar 8:10pm JakeGould:

When I think “Newark” I think honesty.
Avatar 8:12pm Little Danny:

Evenin' Gaylord and all
Avatar 8:13pm mariano:

A very good evening to you, Gaylord, and to all my fellow Superbowl contrarians!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:13pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Gaylord 7, Super Bowl 0
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:14pm Gaylord Fields:

Good evening, everyone! Lots of short songs to begin, so sorry for meager attention paid.
Avatar 8:15pm mariano:

Don't worry about us, Gaylord, do your magic!
Avatar 8:15pm JakeGould:

Makes me wonder what DJs did with all the slack time in the WFMU prog era.
Avatar 8:16pm mariano:

@JakeGould: macramé?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:17pm sugarwolf!!!:

@JakeGould: Drugs?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:17pm Gaylord Fields:

@mariano: Thanks for reminding me.
Avatar 8:18pm JakeGould:

I say the middle ground: Naps.
Avatar 8:18pm mariano:

Haha, Gaylord! The shocking truth about the depraved behind-the-scenes goings-on at 70s FMU.
Avatar 8:19pm JakeGould:

You know what I miss about 1970s hippie culture and malls? “Wicks and Sticks.”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:19pm Gaylord Fields:

Drugs, then naps?
  8:19pm McGroovey:

I'm pretty sure I know what the prog-era DJs were doing with their extra space time.
  8:20pm Carmichael:

Mrs. Carmichael and the carmichaellettes are watching J Lo and Shakira. I am here ....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:22pm Gaylord Fields:

@Carmichael: Let us know if this show syncs up at all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:25pm Mr. Pumpy:

Hello, Gaylord, Jake, mariano, and all the other prog-era drug-fueled conspiracy theorists!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:28pm melinda:

There is room at FMU dedicated to all the Prog-era macramé, just down the hall from the velvet paintings.
  8:28pm cheri the duff:

@MR FEILDS & ALL DUFFERS,,,, GOOD EVENING,,, SO WHATS NEW???
  8:28pm juli:

I dig Ghost quite alot...also enjoy Masaki Batoh Collected Works 95-96...thanks
Avatar 8:28pm JakeGould:

@melinda: You know that’s a lie since that would be a fire hazard.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:29pm Mr. Pumpy:

Ghost sounds like a Japanese Espers...or the other way around...
  8:29pm choggie:

this kind of sounds like the guy who sings Goodbye moonmen from the Rick and Morty series
  8:30pm Dean:

I know what one punk era DJ did with his extra space time. Richard Meltzer wrote a poem that starts with a line about playing "Sister Ray" to give him enough time to use the potty at KPFK. Once, I was in studio with him when he played Cupol's "Kluba Cupol." He said something like, "This next track is about 17 minutes long," then played the track. Within seconds after the track ended -- and this is well after midnight -- a listener calls to report, "The track lasted 20 minutes and 28 seconds."
  8:31pm Mr C:

Nothing is more Super on Sunday than the great Gaylord!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:33pm chresti:

I think they went out for coffee after having drugs.
Avatar 8:34pm JakeGould:

More people take naps without need for anything else than they will ever admit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:34pm chresti:

Haha melinda!
Avatar 8:34pm mariano:

Hey Mr. Pumpy! Hope you're having a good weekend.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:35pm Gaylord Fields:

Mr C, my main man!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:35pm Gaylord Fields:

Left my Mel & Tim "Backfield in Motion" at home.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:36pm chresti:

Haha Dean.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:38pm listener 126464:

Right Mr. C
  8:38pm cheri the duff:

Hey @MR FEILDS,,,WHATS UP???
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:40pm listener 126464:

love that Steve and Eydie one
  8:42pm juli:

I'm getting ready for some margo guryan...feels like a Friday night
Avatar 8:42pm Marc Francis:

I love this song. It's fucking gorgeous.
  8:43pm ashley morey:

Justin loves the Jorge Ben song!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:43pm Gaylord Fields:

@listener 126464: Steve and Eydie are so much better than their MOR reputation.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:44pm Gaylord Fields:

@Marc Francis @ashley morey: That Jorge Ben song is so good it hurts, and somehow it stops the hurt at the same time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:45pm listener 126464:

Gaylord you know i know from listening to luxuriamusic
Avatar 8:47pm Marc Francis:

@Gaylord: exactement!!
Avatar 8:50pm mariano:

@Dean - That's funny, just like something we'd do today on the AccuPlaylist. I'm definitely an AccuPlaylist pedant. AccuPedant?
  8:50pm John from Florham park:

Hello fellow Gaylord fields listeners
  8:52pm Primitive Painter:

Super choice fire, thanks Gaylord!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:53pm Gaylord Fields:

@Primitive Painter: My pleasure!
  8:57pm Dean:

You're exactly correct, mariano, and I'm one, too.
  8:57pm John from Florham park:

Guys came home was bored to tears with the super bowl and this station is a lot more entertaining
  8:59pm Carmichael:

No sync up Gaylord, but I did learn about a latino rapper called Bad Bunny.
Avatar 9:00pm Mod Mokka Matti:

Good Evening! Just got back in from the field - uh, no, make that the landscaped subdivided suburban tract - where I've been out gardening with Gaylord streaming through my OG mid-'80s Fisher boombox, for all the unaware passers-by in my 'hood to hear. I must say that this first hour's set has been positively sparkling - dare I say, smashing. Thank you, sir, and WFMU, for being there for those of us who couldn't care less about what everyone else is fixated on today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:04pm listener 126464:

kitchen patrol
  9:05pm John from Florham park:

Mod mokka amen to that , this station is better then watching the super bowl
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:05pm Gaylord Fields:

I cannot think of a better love song about dishwashing than "Sharing Wishes."
  9:06pm Dean:

I have to be fixated on what everyone else is fixated on because my two kids are each at parties devoted to same, and I have to retrieve them when same has ended. In the meantime at home I've played more Stan Getz (inspired by Jeff G.'s tribute this a.m.), a lovely guitar duet recital I'd forgotten in my collection, and now this show. I also prepared enchiladas for when the better half returns tonight from work.

So grateful the Super Bowl only takes place every twelve years.
  9:11pm John from Florham park:

@Dean I hate to tell you this but the super bowl is every year
  9:12pm Dean:

What?! I thought only the commercials and half time show were annual!
  9:15pm John from Florham park:

@Dean ha ha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:18pm Mr. Pumpy:

@mariano...hanging in there. I tried to relax a bit. Life goes on. Hope you had a good one.
  9:18pm Carmichael:

That’s why they use roman numerals. They just keep adding x’s and I’s.
  9:25pm Carmichael:

Yhis is SB XXXXXIIIIIXXXXI.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:26pm Gaylord Fields:

@Carmichael: And Patrick Mahomes is QB VII.
  9:28pm Dean:

This year's is dedicated to Steve Tyler's daughter.
Avatar 9:29pm coelacanth∅:

Dean (@9.06) yeah i had to listen to that change of scenes album after Stork today. Hamp & Getz is next.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:29pm Mr. Pumpy:

I'm digging Super Bowl 110110 on my Commodore 64
  9:29pm Dean:

Gotta get my hands on Hamp & Getz.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:30pm Gaylord Fields:

@Mr. Pumpy: Math/computer jokes are always welcome here.
  9:31pm ?:

I think you mean 1010100.
Avatar 9:31pm mariano:

Thanks Mr. Pumpy, all good here. Trying to keep from eating absolutely everything I brought back from a Cajun grocery in Lafayette yesterday: boudin balls, crawfish boudin balls, fresh cracklings, smoked rabbit sausage, smoked venison sausage.

Nice one, Binary Superbowl!
  9:32pm Dean:

Oops, my bad. It is 110110.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:32pm Gaylord Fields:

@?: Math is hard. Let's go shopping!
  9:33pm Dean:

I am ?.
Avatar 9:33pm mariano:

I dunno, @? - internet says 84 (not that I know the first thing about this stuff): www.mathwarehouse.com...
Avatar 9:33pm JakeGould:

@Gaylord: I see what you did there.
Avatar 9:33pm JakeGould:

Sports are Americanish
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:34pm Mr. Pumpy:

Ha! Math is our friend...until it's not.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:35pm listener 126464:

i had math after lunch
Avatar 9:35pm Franco Twinkie:

Mariano, that sounds so good! I just came from Whole Foods which you would think was a game free zone. Nope. Plenty of hooting going on in the attache bar.
Avatar 9:35pm coelacanth∅:

math is one drug i've never tried
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:36pm Mr. Pumpy:

mariano...I'd have a hard time not eating all of that. Sounds amazing.
Avatar 9:36pm JakeGould:

Prog rock has something to do with math.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37pm Ken From Hyde Park:

More math trivia: 02022020 today is a rare palindrome date.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37pm Mr. Pumpy:

Crystal math is the hardest to quit. You'll find yourself multiplying all day and night.
Avatar 9:38pm JakeGould:

@Ken: 02022020 is the day a groundhog finally bit a mayor. giphy.com...
Avatar 9:38pm Mod Mokka Matti:

Okay, now that I'm warmed up a bit, it's time to take Sophie the Schnauzer back out for some extended paw patrol. Hope to continue listening in, in transit/incognito.
  9:39pm Dean:

Some math is derivative.
Avatar 9:39pm coelacanth∅:

no thank you. might as well commit algebra suicide.
  9:40pm Carmichael:

A Python memory: the palindrome of Bolton is Notlob.
Avatar 9:41pm coelacanth∅:

happy palindrome day everyone
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41pm Wendy del Formaggio:

Gaylord! I'm finally here. Better late than never. I look forward to hearing the beginning of the show tomorrow on the archives. It'll keep me company at work.
Avatar 9:42pm JakeGould:

The cheese stands alone… In the lateness category that is.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:43pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@Jake - Haha! You go, groundhog!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:44pm Mr. Pumpy:

Shall we all pay respect to our futere cyborg overlords...the Notlob of the new Age?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:44pm chresti:

I love Matmos.
Avatar 9:45pm mariano:

Wow, Superbowl fever at Whole Foods... what's the world coming to?
Avatar 9:45pm Franco Twinkie:

When I was in high school and had to tell my dad I dropped out of Algebra (he was big on college prep) He just looked at me and in an exasperated and weary tone of voice asked me "So what do want to do with yourself, be an artist bum that lays around on the beach all day?" I thought to myself - That's exactly what I want to be! And so, it came to pass.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:46pm Mr. Pumpy:

I like when math arguments come up...because, for the most part, the retort should be, "Well, do the math!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47pm Mr. Pumpy:

Digging this faux cricket vibe.
Avatar 9:48pm mariano:

Oh yeah, Notlob: from the chemists' sketch iirc?
Avatar 9:51pm JakeGould:

That “Vampire Planet” track reminded me of the Star Trek halloween episode. The one with the big black cat that was just a cute normal-sized cat on a small set? www.startrek.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:52pm Mr. Pumpy:

I was just taking the piss, but now that you mention it, I think it's the dead parrot sketch. Perhaps that is why Notlob was mentioned to begin with!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:52pm Mr. Pumpy:

getyarn.io...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53pm Mr. Pumpy:

Carmichael...good one!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:54pm Wendy del Formaggio:

David Axelrod! An artist I'm just getting to know, and love. Of course I learned about him from DJ Shadow, as many of us did.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:55pm Gaylord Fields:

@Wendy: I predict a love affair between you and his music.
  9:55pm Carmichael:

The Dead Parrot sketch.
  9:56pm daniel kirk:

Wow, I love Theme One! I know it from the Van Der Graaf Generator version. Haven't heard this in decades!
Avatar 9:56pm Franco Twinkie:

One of my bands was called Star Rats which is a palindrome. Really.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:56pm Gaylord Fields:

Hi, Daniel!
  9:57pm Carmichael:

Oh, and thanks Gaylord!
  9:57pm Listener Robert:

Yay!
  9:57pm daniel kirk:

Hi back, Gaylord. Your shows are the best way to spend any Sunday night, but especially Super Bowl night.
Avatar 9:57pm mariano:

Ah, the dead parrot sketch. Damn, and I've always prided myself on being a Python nerd.
  9:57pm McGroovey:

Hey, I want this Banana Splits record!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:57pm listener 126464:

Bravo Gaylord!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:58pm Wendy del Formaggio:

@Gaylord, I think your inner Criswell is showing, and your prediction will come true.
  9:58pm John from Florham park:

Gaylord thanks for the fine tunage
Avatar 9:58pm coelacanth∅:

banana splits? really??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:58pm Gaylord Fields:

@McGroovey: It's hard to find in playable condition, because kids.
Avatar 9:58pm mariano:

Great video for this Banana Splits song: www.youtube.com...
Avatar 9:58pm coelacanth∅:

-i didn't know they did serious music.
Avatar 9:59pm mariano:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:01pm Ken From Hyde Park:
