Ridgewood Radio features concert recordings by adventurous bands and experimental musicians and restored archival tapes from private and institutional collections captured at venues large and small across the five boroughs of New York. It is produced by David Weinstein and Outpost Artists Resources operating out of the Ridgewood section of Queens, NY, where you'll find more yellow bricks than on the road to Oz and the cemetery of your choice is never more than a few blocks from home.

How do, all! Planet Earth is blue, and there's nothing I can do.
Avatar 3:00pm david w:

I tried to fit some Bowie in today. Hi, james!
Avatar 3:02pm geezerette:

Hey there,David,Ruth and all!
Hiya, James!

geez, yay!

Hi David

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:04pm Webhamster Henry:

Hello Ridgewood!
Avatar 3:05pm coelacanth∅:

greetings David & Ruth and others
Avatar 3:09pm david w:

and chresti! and Stanley (eternally sorry for that) and Henry and coel. Always great to see you all....
Avatar 3:13pm david w:

Henry I saw what you wrote on Mary Wing's comments, that was very kind.
Avatar 3:14pm still b/p:

Space music. It's Tangy.
Avatar 3:15pm david w:

Perfect assessment, still b/p. Spacey yet tangy today. Cool when you can be both, methinks.
Avatar 3:16pm Schell:

David, that's Lester Bowie, right???
Avatar 3:17pm david w:

What is the frequency, Dr. Schell?
Avatar 3:19pm Schell:

The frequency? Why it's 104.9 FM Seattle, home of my new show on Hollow Earth Radio debuting tomorrow at 9pm Pacific Time. Then again, Dan Rather might say otherwise...
Avatar 3:20pm david w:

Ah, the radioverse gets richer. Congrats.
Avatar 3:22pm Schell:

Compared to Ridgewood Radio it'll be like Magic Johnson's baby hook vs. Boston compared to Kareem, but it's still gonna be fun. Radical new music from the Northwest and beyond.
Avatar 3:26pm david w:

But you see Sir Schell, that if I had been consulting with your scholarly sporting self, I would have seen that Lester Bowie would enrrich my theme, so there!
Avatar 3:28pm Schell:

As is pertinent to radio types, though, and as you know, the last names are pronounced differently.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29pm chresti:

Avatar 3:29pm Schell:

But Lester has been more in my consciousness of late. I have a 50YA theme going, and right now that lands us square in the flurry of inaugural Paris-era Art Ensemble of Chicago activity.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29pm Stanley:

That was excellent
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:31pm doctorjazz:

Hi David and listeners.
Avatar 3:32pm fred:

Good afternoon David, Ruth and listeners
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm Webhamster Henry:

First likes his drones.
Avatar 3:34pm david w:

Cool, Stanley. I wish I knew more about those two, pretty unconventional construction and textures and use of tech.
Avatar 3:35pm david w:

doctorjazz and fred, welcome to the outer limits!
Avatar 3:36pm david w:

First also likes his seconds.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:38pm Webhamster Henry:

David 1st and I tried to get together an internet droning protest when Trump was inaugurated, but the software was not cooperating.
Avatar 3:41pm david w:

Sort of like blasting heavy metal at Noriega?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:51pm Webhamster Henry:

More like a soothing, healing scream into the void.
Avatar 3:52pm still b/p:

When authorities blast Noriega or Koresh & Co. with music, I don't grasp the premise. "There could be danger and unpredictability if we go in with force, so let's make the dangerous unpredictable person highly stressed and edgy with an extended aural assault. The perfect defuser."
Avatar 3:53pm david w:

This history of music as a weapon is super interesting, but I digress...
Avatar 3:54pm geezerette:

still b / p, , kind of a Dr. Strangelove solution.
Avatar 3:55pm david w:

And yet... I think an article in the long lost Spin magazine could be a good starting place for those curious.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:55pm Webhamster Henry:

Joshua fit the battle of Jericho...
Avatar 3:56pm geezerette:

...or Joseph Heller.
Avatar 3:58pm geezerette:

Well, this sounds like the moon to me!
Avatar 4:00pm david w:

Although they say Neil Armstrong played something like Montovani in his helmet.
Avatar 4:01pm geezerette:

haha! not Mancini?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:05pm Webhamster Henry:

1995 ! whoa!
Avatar 4:07pm fred:

I like this!
Avatar 4:08pm david w:

They are decidedly wack, but smart... and listening.
Avatar 4:28pm fred:

I know of a bunch of projects using the audience's phones as speakers or as a way to interact with the sound (or both). But this is from 1999!
Avatar 4:29pm david w:

Yes, probably actual wires running into the audience!
Avatar 4:37pm fred:

An advantage of wires is they won't be overloaded if too many people show up (happened to Wi-Fi in two recent performances I heard about from the beleaguered dev in charge of it). Then again, who would plan for many people showing up at such a thing?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:39pm Webhamster Henry:

I did a show that I encouraged people to bring FM radios to because I was micro broadcasting it, but nobody did.
Avatar 4:40pm david w:

I've seen several of these wi-fi phone performances crash. Then again, I've seen some magical things done too. Its evolving and perhaps has a future.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:40pm Webhamster Henry:

There was a binaural piece that would have sounded nicer on headphones.
Avatar 4:41pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

I brought an FM radio to a concert that encouraged it and it indeed sounded great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:44pm Webhamster Henry:

We should do a "bring an FM radio to Monty Hall" show and be all redundant and stuff.
Avatar 4:45pm david w:

Ken! I thought I saved my old boombox radio for hurricanes and terror attacks but maybe this will be why.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:50pm Stanley:

Wow! Across ihe Universe. We used to sing this up in the Himalayas back in the day.
Bom Shankar everyone.
Avatar 4:50pm david w:

I just couldn't resist.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:52pm chresti:

Thanks David!
Avatar 4:53pm geezerette:

Wow, so many associations & images in Western Enisphere piece.
Wonderful show!
Thanks always, David, Ruth,and buddies.
(All this and Lennon too. :)
Avatar 4:54pm david w:

Thank you, chresti, geez and everybody. To the moon! (A toast, not a Trump piece of baloney).
Avatar 4:55pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Coming up now on this Drummer Radio stream:

New soundscape today! Everything easier, long drones, a story monologue, collage play near end.
