Good morning, Uncle Michael!

Good afternoon David and listeners

Greetings Fred and Joe!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:03am Webhamster Henry:

Early trip for the Subway today!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:04am David D:

Henry: Testing to see if the engines work this early...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:05am Uncle Michael:

All aboard die kleine bimmelbahn.
Avatar 9:10am northguineahills:

well, now I'm suffering from temporal displacia… (when/where are we?)

NGH: Special Friday Bimmeltour...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:11am melinda:

Morning all. Love the photo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:12am fred:

I'll be seeing Jandek later today, I hope it will be better this time. I have to give the guy a second chance
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:13am David D:

Good morning, Melinda! Thanks, that was taken about halfway between where I live and where I am right now (Radio Blau).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:16am doctorjazz:

Hi David, nice to hop a ride on a Friday morning!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:16am Jeff Golick:

Dichelle, ma belle!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:16am David D:

Fred: What happened the first time?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:17am David D:

Welcome aboard, Doctor J and Jeff G!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:19am fred:

The band he had lined up for "backing" him just did their thing as he crouched on the side and was barely audible. It was just a boring band "featuring" Jandek. Disaster. Tonight should be better, the hired musicians are not about hogging the spotlight
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:36am Brian in UK:

Hello David nd those that are ear aware.

Our clocks bound forward on Sunday morning, have you changed yet in Germany. I would hate to think that the UK is out of step with Europe.
  9:36am Listener Robert:

The name of this program reminds me of when I was little and thought the Holland Tunnel went to Holland.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37am Brian in UK:

This High Tide is an old 'un. Egg next?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:39am David D:

Hello Brian! No, we are still in full alignment, changing on Sunday as well and ending our collective WFMU lag.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40am Stanley:

Friends. I'm back in the swim.
March always throws me what with the marathon and the out of synch hour change.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41am David D:

Robert: That may be where it seeped into my subconscious as well...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:42am David D:

Stanley: Welcome back! Just another day or two and we're back to temporal normal.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:43am fred:

The hour change is a puzzling time for me as well. WFMU time is what I usually go by, these changes throw me out of whack
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:45am Brian in UK:

April 1st. All Fools Day soon, looks like Boris Johnson is on the list to fight for the Conservative Party leadership and therefore Prime Minister. Hucksters in power on both sides of the ocean. Ah well, the sun is shining.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:46am Stanley:

On top of this I've been crossing time zones a bit lately. (UK-France-Canarias-France-UK). And not much quality down (listening) time.
Avatar 9:47am Sem:

Hello, David, continentalists, the travel-weary, the Brexit-ready, one and all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:48am fred:

@Brian in UK: Boris Johnson as Prime Minister? Can't you put a motion to get Wata from Boris instead? She's arguably not qualified, but is he? She probably has enough sense not to be involved in this mess though
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:49am David D:

Hey there, Sem!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:49am Stanley:

We're doomed, I'll tell ye. Doomed!
Avatar 9:49am βrian:

Oh, hey. I didn't know I'd be in Leipzig today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:50am David D:

Welcome, βrian!
Avatar 9:51am βrian:

I predict lake Mendota will open up today. I see at least one patch of water.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53am fred:

@βrian: Is that late or early in your experience?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:56am joe:

Good Ole Clay informed me yesterday that Europe is moving to do away with Daylight Savings.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:58am David D:

Yes, Joe, that is the case. The only problem is that each country can decide for staying on Standard or Daylight time, which could lead to some confusion if they don't coordinate their decisions.
Avatar 9:59am βrian:

Pretty typical @fred, but weirdly, the ice also opened up for a brief period during December. That's uncommon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:59am fred:

@joe: Seems likel. France will follow Germany as usual, but that will make my WFMU schedule so puzzling
Avatar 10:00am βrian:

I thought they were moving to permanent DST, which is a bit different.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:00am joe:

@Brian In Uk "Hucksters in power on both sides of the ocean" Funny although I am by no means a fan of our current adminstration ( it actually makes me very ill to be honest) you would think the way it is projected here is that the rest of the world are totally incable of making bad decisions and we (the U.S) are the only ones who have to deal with foolishess.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:01am joe:

Oh so Europe is going to be like Tennesse where there is the possibilty to pass through like 3 time zones depending on the time of year you go :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04am Stanley:

#bollockstobrexit
Avatar 10:07am βrian:

  10:08am Alex In Illinois:

I'm glad that I finally got to hear this show.
Avatar 10:09am βrian:

I always get here via freeform.wfmu.org. It just works.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:10am Brian in UK:

@joe, all politicians (well the majority) are cast from the same slab of guano.
Avatar 10:12am Sem:

Slab o' Guano futures looking very good. Invest now.
A sure thing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:12am David D:

Glad you could make it, Alex!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13am joe:

@Brian In Uk agreed
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13am joe:

Oh wow that is the "old" site that is so cool that it is still out there and updated.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14am fred:

My main worry about Brexit is that Scotland will suddenly get out of the EU. Which means tariffs and a hike on the price of whisky. Which is a bad thing. I hope the EU stands firms on Ireland. A tariff on Guinness should be a red line
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15am Stanley:

fred: we'll be back
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:16am Uncle Michael:

A yellow line.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:16am Uncle Michael:

...in the snow.
Avatar 10:18am βrian:

I'm glad we no longer rely on the UK for beer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19am Uncle Michael:

I've yet to taste a craft stout that was a patch on Guinness.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:20am doctorjazz:

Sounds like early Cure.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:20am Webhamster Henry:

@joe it's not really updated, it just uses the same APIs that the "modern" site does! I'm using an old version of the WFMU iPhone app on a suitably antique iPhone, and it's also "up to date" for the same reason!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22am Webhamster Henry:

But yes the old site silent cranks array, although the picture database is the same as it's always been:
www.wfmu.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22am David D:

Doc: Maybe the Cure was the cure for the Defective Effects.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22am joe:

@Webhamster henry Well that all being said I like it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23am Stanley:

Avatar 10:26am Sem:

I echo the Honourable Members' assessment, Stanley.
Avatar 10:28am βrian:

We have a five-year old who's learning the alphabet, along with the international distinction between "zee" and "zed." She was curious to know if the animal was sometimes called a zedbra.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29am fred:

@Webhamster Henry: Juanjo (who does FactorSynth) was around two days ago. He said he'd love to send you a beta version if you're interested
Avatar 10:36am Sem:

Engaging set, David. Thank you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38am David D:

Thanks, Sem!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:39am Webhamster Henry:

@fred fine with me!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:40am David D:

βrian: Just reading your last comment now - that is very funny and a very clever thought, in fact!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:42am fred:

@Stanley: you guys seem gullible. It first was "don't leave or you'll be out of the EU". Then it was "you suckers are out of the EU". England still rules
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43am David D:

The noes have it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48am Brian in UK:

I will settle with Mona Lisa, the eyes have it.

@Uncle Michael, I used to really enjoy Beamish & Crawford stout from Cork in southern Ireland.
Avatar 10:49am βrian:

The Brexit door has been bolted shut. Thankfully, there never was a fire. Time to cancel 50 and carry on.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49am Brian in UK:

Was it Mark Perry who started Sniffin' Glue, a punk fanzine?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:50am fred:

@Webhamster Henry: contact him about it, I'm just not in a position to help; I'm too low-level, in several ways (I do command line stuff). But if you like his stuff, he should be open to your insights (I highlighted your credentials because I think it could be beneficial for both, but that's all I can do. If it doesn't work out, it doesn't)
Avatar 10:50am βrian:

They used to sell Beamish in the US. I recall it being pleasantly rich.
Avatar 10:50am northguineahills:

Back!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52am Brian in UK:

Never got a taste for porter (a thinner kind of stout).
Avatar 10:53am northguineahills:

I went to a job councilor, and was asked if I spoke any other languages, and just continued en espanol w/o a beat before I was interrupted by the councilor, who said, "I don't know Spanish". I was surprised, as I usually have to think before attempting to speak Spanish. Usually it takes 3-5 days in Mexico before it kicks in.
Avatar 10:54am northguineahills:

@βrian: I can't remember the last time I had Beamish.

I like porters if they're not to sweet, or if they help carry my luggage.....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:56am Stanley:

fred: in the independance referendum, I do not remember that being a threat to those who supported to leave the UK. Our plan was always to apply as a new nation. Unlike the rest of the UK we voted two-thirds to remain in the EU and have once again been stiffed by the English political class.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:56am Stanley:

Brian....a pint of plain is yer only man.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59am Brian in UK:

Stanley, I asked for a pint of Ordinary recently and got a very old fashioned look. Should have asked for an Old Fashioned.
Avatar 10:59am northguineahills:

@Stanley: Norn Iron also voted to remain....
Avatar 10:59am βrian:

Porter Wagoner was just born to carry on, you'd think ...
Avatar 11:01am northguineahills:

@βrian: Porter Wagoner, my favorite steampunk transformer.....
Avatar 11:04am βrian:

RejexIt?
Avatar 11:04am northguineahills:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:06am Brian in UK:

Stanley as I believe the locals say up your way. Dilligaf.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:06am David D:

NGH: I hope it lived up to your click!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:07am Brian in UK:

Fancy the band name The Tonsured Tonto.
Avatar 11:07am Sem:

...gotta wear my tied-dyed for this one. Where the hell is it...
Avatar 11:08am βrian:

"Always swingin' his click around ...."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:15am fred:

Beamish is like watered down Guinness. No wonder they have that in the US, they seem to like watered down beer over there
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:15am Brian in UK:

Time for some weeding out in the sunshine.
I used to like Beaver & Krause from that early 70s period.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17am Brian in UK:

fred not drunk it since the late 70s so maybe it has been adapted.
Do not like Guinness to be too cold.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17am Stanley:

David, it has been a pleasure but now I must make tracks. Many thanks for filling in.
Take care everyone.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18am fred:

Sorry about that, I'm cranky because I'm stuck waiting for boiler maintenance. For the fifth day since the beginning of the year. I should tell Ken about it instead of lashing out at innocent listeners
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:19am David D:

Thanks, Stanley, may your tracks rise up to meet you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:24am David D:

And may your weeds come out nicely in the sun, Brian...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:26am Uncle Michael:

I've never heard of Beamish before today. If we have it here, it's news to me.

I am on the main stream a lot and have been listening to drummer radio and si far I like it no FCC bullshit to deal with
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:36am David D:

@ David I do
Avatar 11:39am northguineahills:

Subway surfing recommended, only if you can duck appropriately....
Avatar 11:40am northguineahills:

βrian: I just sneezed when David typed that, so I read that "click" the same....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:40am joe:

Something about this Kenny Graham track all the parts seem isolated but working togeather. It's almost like I can focus on a diffrent part of the song. No I didn't take the mushrooms.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:41am David D:

Joe: That is a good way of putting it, in fact.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:46am Uncle Michael:

Alas, Brain...not that I'm aware of.
  11:48am John from Florham Park:

@NGH how is the job hunting going
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50am Webhamster Henry:

These Sundays are reminding me that I used "Sunday" (20s version) in a soundtrack of a puppet show I did in 1970 or so.
Avatar 11:50am northguineahills:

For all of our UK/Irish (and EU) blokes, check out this podcast on Brexit by an American an Irish podcasters... (feck, all of my Irish slang comes from Father Ted).

@John: I have a very good chance at my interview Tuesday for a GIS job at the Alachua County FD.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51am David D:

Thanks for that NGH, and good luck on Tuesday!
  11:51am John from Florham Park:

@NGH hope you get it and what does GIS mean?
Avatar 11:51am Sem:

Lovely way to head into the weekend--a strong shot of 'Trane. Thanks, David, glad to ride the Stream on the Continental Subway any time. See you and all later on, down the tracks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52am David D:

Henry: Which version?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:53am doctorjazz:

Speaking of taking the Trane...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:53am joe:

Just watch Chasing Trane yesterday finally. Like it but seemed like it could have been better. Something better then nothign I suppose. Funny enough the parts I liked best were Denzel reading Coltranes words.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:53am Jeff Golick:

This album is so so sweet.
  11:55am John from Florham Park:

Not really into jazz but this station has broadened my mind the only thing I still don’t like is reggae
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:55am doctorjazz:

Thanks ,David!

Any NY/NJ folks remember an old commerical for maybe a museum in NYC that showed the old Redbird trains and played Take the A Train. Anybody remember what it was for specifically?
