Every show starts with the ’70s! We’ll rediscover forgotten rockers, revisit unfairly maligned disco beats and replay power-pop favorites. Next: plenty of new releases, occasional live bands and more. Don’t let the nickname confuse you.

This version of Relax sounds different than what I'm used to
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:09pm Uncle Michael:

floin again?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:09pm Quasi Mojo:

Such a suburban sound this band
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:09pm Quasi Mojo:

and it was the suburban vote that swayed the election

I just found out the free music archive is shutting down. I'm surprised it is not on the WFMU home page.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:11pm Quasi Mojo:

Very sad about FMA. I thought it was always going to be there.

Making me think about BMX Bandits
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:14pm Aitch:

This spys' one is really dreadful. Need some Loverboy now to heighten the awkward
  9:15pm seth from muddy creek:

Ahh. Was just referring to this track with the BMX reference. Bummed about FMA.
Avatar 9:19pm herb.nyc:

Happy Wednesday! I have my receiver volume higher than normal- Evan's vg show is even vg'r! (Doesn't apply to "relax", however)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:23pm efd:

hi everyone! Thanks for tuning in tonight, and thanks to those who have commented! Always nice to see you.

has phish been on? am i too late?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:36pm Uncle Michael:

I totally would have deleted that email.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40pm Parq:

That was some story, Evan. Clasping your hand in this time of sadness for you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41pm Quasi Mojo:

Nice tribute. RIP Trevor.
  9:41pm hello:

@efd sorry for my rudeness , wasn't listening when i commented. rip trevor
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:42pm efd:

when I met Trevor in London one of the first things I did was show him and his business partner the email he sent me that I forwarded to my girlfriend with a note that said "I think this must be a scam of some sort."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:42pm efd:

and we all had a good laugh.
  9:42pm seth from muddy creek:

Condolences. We are lucky to have the time we have.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:42pm Tome:

sorry EFD ,, sweet Guy i can see that in the photo man , nice warm genuine smile too both of you !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:44pm Quasi Mojo:

He actually was pretty enterprising, as he was already a fan of the show, but was seeing if there was a possibility of a business connection. Why not?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:45pm efd:

Yep, he was working with radio presenters and other media folks in the UK so it seemed like a natural extension.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:46pm Uncle Michael:

condolences, Evan
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:49pm efd:

appreciate the thoughts everyone, thanks.
  9:54pm Robin Eisgrau:

Going by the album cover, there were eight people in The Dooleys. That's a heck of a lot. Were some of them backup dancers?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:57pm efd:

I actually don't know much at all about them, Robin!
  9:59pm Robin Eisgrau:

I used to voraciously read British pop magazines in the mid-eighties: Smash Hits, No.1, NME and Melody Maker and I think No.1 said snarky things about The Dooleys and Shakatak.
  10:08pm Robin Eisgrau:

Very sorry about the loss of your friend, Evan.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13pm efd:

thanks Robin
  10:15pm Ajax:

Somebody beat me to covering Get The Message! Damn it. Also I love the EFD show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15pm Quasi Mojo:

Carlisle, oh Carlisle. This is lovely.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:16pm efd:

@Ajax there's no shame in being beaten by Miriam, at least! (And thank you.)
Avatar 10:23pm neeelz:

This is nice, bless you @efd
  10:32pm Scraps:

Usually I can’t comment on E”F”D’s show because somehow it doesn’t work except about the first half hour or so on my iPad (comments work in nearly all other all shows). Anyway, I moved to the WFMU app (which I don’t really like).

Evan, I’m sorry about Trevor.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:36pm medson:

good evening efd/everyone
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:36pm efd:

hi Scraps! Thanks for making the extra effort to comment, I appreciate it.
  10:38pm Scraps:

One thing that’s weird about the app on iPad is, there’s no avatar. It’s all-text comment area, like 1988 or something.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43pm medson:

Every time I hear the beginning of this I hear Detroit Rock City
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43pm Aitch:

Oh Sees very good, especially live.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52pm efd:

I haven't had the pleasure, but I've heard the same
  11:01pm Scraps:

I love the Mulduar portion of the night

  11:27pm Eddy in Australia:

Hi Evan! Quick chime-in: You were right the first time - it's Can-bra. Also, check out the back cover of that Members album - one of the guys is wearing a 3RRR FM (Melbourne) tee (they toured here between the first two albums). I wore a more recent RRR tee when I was on your show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:28pm efd:

oh that's funny about the t-shirt! And thanks for confirming my pronunciation!
  11:29pm Shane:

Any residents fans out there?
  11:29pm Eddy in Australia:

By the way, amazing work by Hozac to get that Baby Grande album. They've also just released a Cheap Nasties LP for all you Kim Salmon/Scientists fans.
  11:33pm Shane:

Is that on Numero Group?
  11:34pm Scraps:

Today was my monthly pill refill: it’s monthly and only monthly because I have a morphine prescription (pain constantly since stroke), and the government doesn’t trust me, or any morphine gobbler, to have more than a month at a time. So I get to know the pharmacy people pretty well, and I get to know their store, and foodstuffs they put on sale regularly.

So one of the foodstuffs I left with was four meaty sticks of Zoe’s Ghost Pepper Uncured Salami, and 12-pack-cans of Squirt to wash it down with. Hot, yum: makes pain somewhat less, no kidding. But mostly: yum, hot. Yum.
  11:36pm Eddy in Australia:

Shane: No, but there was some Cheap Nasties material as part of that Scientists compilation (last year, I think) on Numero.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:38pm efd:

@Scraps Personally I can't do soda + spicy food; the soda seems to amplify the spice to beyond my tolerance. But I'm glad you're enjoying it!
  11:42pm Scraps:

I know what you mean, that first second or two is really hot. But it doesn’t last (for me)
  11:04am David Reilly:

Love the music you dedicated to Trevor Jenkins. I wrote music for him over the years. Much loved, never to be forgotten friend x
  5:13am Dave Carroll:

Thanks for the music, Evan, and thanks for being a friend to Trevor.
