Hello Mary and all
  12:09pm Dean:

Did we lose Mary's show?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10pm Ken From Hyde Park:

This seems like more whatever than usual.
Avatar 12:11pm Roberto:

!03% Whatever.
Avatar 12:11pm fred:

There has been streaming issues for a while now, I'm afraid the Drummer stream is hit worse than the main one
Avatar 12:13pm βrian:

It's still pre-paisley in here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm maestroso:

I'm using the pop-up player and haven't experienced any issues.
Avatar 12:14pm Mary Wing:

Hello! I'm here for whatever!
Avatar 12:14pm βrian:

Streaming ok here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm Ike:

It sounded wrong at first, but this sounds good right now! Is this the Bandcamp page for this artist? accou.bandcamp.com
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Yay, the curtains arrived!
Avatar 12:15pm Roberto:

Whatever, Mary.
Avatar 12:15pm βrian:

Paisley tsunami.
  12:16pm Dean:

Well, yes, now it all seems better after a little stuttering and hash at the outset.
Avatar 12:18pm Mary Wing:

No Ike, this Accou is French, I think?
Avatar 12:27pm fred:

All seems fine now, and I'm clicky starring this Thai gem
Avatar 12:29pm βrian:

Trouble Will Soon Be Over ... for dinner
Avatar 12:30pm Roberto:

Trouble will soon be on the radio, unless there's a fill-in tomorrow morning.
Avatar 12:31pm fred:

Dengue Fever!
Avatar 12:36pm Sem:

Hello, Mary, the 100% Wing nuts, and those without neither a Wing nor a prayer.
  12:37pm rw:

Morning! Years ago when DF were newer on the scene I wanted to try to get them to play at an art opening in a large warehouse space. I got talked out of it (and don't know whether it would have even been feasible) but every time I hear them I feel a bit of remorse for not trying.
Avatar 12:39pm fred:

I like this Jambinai track
Avatar 12:43pm Mary Wing:

Hi hi hi, fine peoples, welcome to Wednesday whatever!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm Carmichael:

Heya Mary and everyone who is anyone. Sinead and trouble seem to be synonymous lately.
  12:57pm rw:

I've got the Herbie Mann on pretty quiet and I keep thinking I'm on hold waiting for something. Turning it back up now.
Avatar 12:59pm Mary Wing:

Herbie was a bit low, sorry. Operators are standing by!
Avatar 1:01pm david w:

Hello Mary! Hello everyone! Pondering along...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Haha! Shatner!
Avatar 1:02pm Mary Wing:

HIya David and the Ridgewood crew!
Avatar 1:12pm fred:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13pm steveo:

  1:13pm rw:

I've lost track already. Too hard to keep up. I wonder what Shazam would say.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15pm Carmichael:

Avatar 1:17pm Sem:

Agreed, whole-heartedly.
  1:17pm rw:

I asked my phone and it said: Clouds by People Like Us. It was close. That scares me a little.
Avatar 1:20pm Mary Wing:

Heh. Phones are taking over and we don't even try to stop them.
Avatar 1:22pm βrian:

Cutting hedge or bleeding hedge? Remember that TV soap, The Hedge of Night?
Avatar 1:23pm fred:

I'm still holding out, but getting a phone will soon be mandated by law over here
Avatar 1:23pm βrian:

I think Olivia Newton-John should usurp Felder's slot on Matt WW's show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24pm steveo:

OH ONJ was born in England and didn't move until she was 6. (Also the day she was born, is somewhat noteworthy)
Avatar 1:25pm βrian:

@fred: Tu blagues !
Avatar 1:25pm Mary Wing:

I second that motion, Brian! ONJ! ONJ!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26pm Phillippe Bastille:

Hi Mary and everyone
  1:27pm rw:

fred, you don't have a cell phone or don't have a smart phone? Either way I'm envious!
Avatar 1:28pm fred:

@βrian: not really: I had trouble renewing my ID card because I didn't have a smartphone, and that was more than 5 years ago
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm steveo:

golly i should buy this album; every track i've heard is a knockout
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm steveo:

Avatar 1:30pm fred:

@steveo: I don't even like ONJ much, but this album is indeed great
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm steveo:

somehow the nostalgia that JH creates is better than the originals (or something)
  1:32pm Dean:

Olivia N-J is the granddaughter of Max Born of quantum mechanics fame. In a history of the development of QM, the author appends to one chapter the epigram, "Let's Get Physical."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm steveo:

oh wow, dean, i shouldn't have skimmed wikipedia quite so quickly. that's a great story about the epigram. (I'm reading a Feynman bio now...)
Avatar 1:36pm northguineahills:

@Dean: Ok, How did I not know that!
Avatar 1:37pm northguineahills:

I'm having the type of day where day drinking would be in order if I wasn't working....
Avatar 1:38pm βrian:

The Day Drinkers. There you go.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39pm steveo:

i saw that you had clickied the hatfield earlier, ngh, and magically you have appeared
Avatar 1:41pm fred:

This reminds me of YMO
  1:43pm Dean:

I only learned it a few months ago, when I was reading the history. Kind of amazing that I learned of the link to Born via Born, rather than via ON-J, since she was on my radar in the '70s, Born not so much.
Avatar 1:43pm fred:

Obviously... should have waited a little before posting
Avatar 1:44pm northguineahills:

@steveo: That's how it works!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm steveo:

Avatar 1:51pm βrian:

This kind of reminds me of Cousin It.
  1:52pm Dean:

Here's the book/chapter: https://goo.gl/5X142C
Avatar 1:52pm Mary Wing:

Avatar 1:52pm Roberto:

This is freraky.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm steveo:

Avatar 1:53pm βrian:

I'm just not so sure about that Heisenberg guy.
  1:55pm Dean:

Follow it with anything by Cardi B. In her shadow, Phizmiz will seem pristine.

Heisenberg, too, suffered from self-doubt. Is he dead?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm crateslinger:

Was Xanadu a good movie?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm steveo:

thanks for that link, Dean
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm Stanley:

I think the dial must have slipped.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:02pm Carmichael:

@dean: you're god damn right ....
Avatar 2:02pm fred:

There are covers of this??? This should be a treat
Avatar 2:04pm northguineahills:

@crateslinger: I watched it, not sure if its good, but it a bit entertaining. Better then what Hollywood puts out these days. Actually I liked it, not sure if I'll watch it again.

Don't think I've heard this Dire Straits before.....
  2:04pm fleep al fresco:

great choice!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm steveo:

I've been searching the internet for the best Heisenberg jokes, but now I've lost my momentum.
Avatar 2:07pm Mary Wing:

Nobody is stuck in the elevator, by the way. The fire department is here, however.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08pm crateslinger:

Thanks NGH. I'm gonna check it out. I bet the special effects are amazing.
Avatar 2:08pm βrian:

I see what you mean, steveo. Now I don't see. Now I do ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:09pm crateslinger:

I like to tell my kids I met their mother while she was roller skating to ONJ.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:10pm crateslinger:

I was on the side of the rink being cool and saw her roll by. She could go backwards, I tell them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11pm crateslinger:

Better than the real story about the keg party.
Avatar 2:11pm Mary Wing:

Heh, nice, crateslinger. Did she have you pairs skating with her eventually?
Avatar 2:13pm northguineahills:

Why do I have a bug bear b/c one of our clients want measurements is imperial rather then metric?, fuckin' Americans, they ruined America (actually, that part hits it on the nose).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm Carmichael:

Hey, a swing group playing a song about a swing group.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm crateslinger:

Yeah Mary, we held hands during a Billy Squire song. That's how far I've worked it out.
Avatar 2:15pm Mary Wing:

Then you wrote her phone number on the back of your hand...
Avatar 2:15pm βrian:

Every time I do some carpentry work around the house, I curse my fractional tape measure.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15pm Ike:

I didn't think I would like this 3OAK, but it's not bad!
Avatar 2:16pm βrian:

@crateslinger: What, you mean you blacked out at that point?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm Carmichael:

A banjo player friend of mine told me that Knopfler's solo is actually comprised of banjo phrasings. That super-fast plucking at the end is apparently called a "reverse barrel roll" in banjo-ese.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm steveo:

any 3oak with a metal version is probably a good 3oak
Avatar 2:18pm Mary Wing:

Metal *AND* bossa versions, yes!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18pm crateslinger:

@ Mary - it was a beeper number but yeah.
@ Brian - Close, what actually happened is we were at a keg party and I cut my lip drinking from a broken bottle but kept drinking and she thought that was hotte so she offered me a ride home. The rest is inappropriate.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm steveo:

good point, Mary :)
Avatar 2:19pm βrian:

"The rest is herstory," no?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm steveo:

is hotte better than just hot?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm crateslinger:

o yeah
Avatar 2:20pm βrian:

You'd have to ask a Hottentot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm Carmichael:

I thought this was Bob Mould for a moment.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm steveo:

Avatar 2:21pm Mary Wing:

extra t for extra hot
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm crateslinger:

and e for exotic
Avatar 2:23pm βrian:

[With apologies to any Khoikhoi listeners.]
Avatar 2:23pm Mary Wing:

Is this the ELP interlude?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29pm Carmichael:

My volume just nose-dived (the app).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29pm steveo:

holding strong on the 128k
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35pm steveo:

any of these versions have trumpets?
Avatar 2:35pm Sem:

I didn't know I needed this, but it evolves that I did, so, thanks, Mary!
Avatar 2:37pm Mary Wing:

I'm desperately looking for a ukulele version, heh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm Carmichael:

No Tiny Tim version?
Avatar 2:38pm northguineahills:

Thanks Mary, off to lunch!
Avatar 2:38pm βrian:

So quiet ...
Avatar 2:39pm βrian:

Ah, there we are.
  2:40pm fleep:

cool one
  2:41pm rw:

I've probably said it before but this is one of the weirdest 3oaK ever.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm steveo:

some great variation
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm steveo:

there's my trumpet
Avatar 2:42pm Mary Wing:

That subtle saxophone is nice.
  2:42pm rw:

I was going to say they're all ironic takes but the last couple have had some reverence.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:43pm Stanley:

This one is not dissimilar to the fella that plays down the Irish Pub, where we go on holiday in Lanzarote.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:45pm Carmichael:

He he, dance version.
Avatar 2:45pm fred:

This is a fun one, terrible but fun
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:46pm Carmichael:

Kinda like Santa Esmerelda.
Avatar 2:46pm Mary Wing:

An autotune version was inevitable, right?
  2:47pm rw:

It took seven versions of Sultans of Swing to get my car washed. Now it's time to build a wall in the back yard. Work cancelled today so I'm home doing home crap. Thanks Mary! Take care everyone!
Avatar 2:47pm fred:

Autotune + Dire Straits. A match made in hell. Did someone mention subtle sax?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Hello Wingettes. This is adding some great perspective on what I always considered a great , if overplayed, song. Thanks a for another wunnerful 3oaK, Mary.
  2:48pm rw:

fred. Nice.
Avatar 2:49pm Mary Wing:

Bye, rw! Hello Kevin and other late arrivals!
Avatar 2:51pm βrian:

Sounds like we're in a fromagey french disco somewhere in the sticks.
Avatar 2:52pm βrian:

(A bad memory of mine.)
Avatar 2:52pm Mary Wing:

Bad memories are all some of us got, pal. ;-)
Avatar 2:53pm fred:

Probably a hit in the kind of party attended by a loud guy I had to endure in a meeting yesterday. Out of his depth, so he kept getting louder
Avatar 2:55pm Sem:

Is there a French expression for "in the sticks?"

Asking for a unilingual friend.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58pm steveo:

Thanks Mary!
Avatar 2:58pm βrian:

"en pleine cambrousse," says my dictionnaire.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58pm Doug Schulkind:

I love it when Mary wings it!
Avatar 2:58pm fred:

Thanks Mary, that was a fun ride
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59pm crateslinger:

"au pays" (oh payee) means in the country, but it's only insulting if you hear a french person say it to you probably.
Avatar 3:00pm βrian:

She wings it and she dings it.
Avatar 3:38pm Mary Wing:

Thanks for listening!!
