Avatar 3:23pm northguineahills:

@popgoestheworld: As a fellow Floridian, me too, my garden needs rain. Planted some peanuts and eggplants during lunch, tomato vines are alreadu 1.5m and have harvested some for the weekend.

Avatar 3:28pm βrian:

Eggplants are just weird.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:30pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I'd rather eat an eggplant than trip and fall with a face plant.
Avatar 3:32pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:39pm Devin B.:

Yay! Love me some Horse Printer!
Avatar 3:40pm βrian:

It would be risky for us to plant tomatoes this week, but I may do that. We can't plant in the garden because of some kind of evil blight. I need tomatoes.
Avatar 3:41pm βrian:

But we started the plants in March. That's an important ritual.
Avatar 3:42pm fred:

@Wild Neil: You're close to Buffalo, right? Not exactly Florida weather
Avatar 3:45pm βrian:

He's got that Maurine Corrigan earnestness and inflection.
Avatar 3:46pm popgoestheworld:

@northguineahills I will swap some of my mangoes for your tomatoes. I have about 10 that are a week or two away from being ready. Try playing Plantasia by Mort Garson for the garden.
Avatar 3:47pm Wild Neil||Peace All:

@Fred-I live about 20 miles from Buffalo in the Exurb of Cambria near Lockport. We are zone 6, just like NW NJ where I grew up. We can plant tomatoes June 1.
This horse printer is odd.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:55pm Ike:

Pseu doesn't abuse you for no reason at all! She has some kind of reason and it's fun to speculate what it is. LOL. (It's her comments, she can do what she wants.)
Avatar 3:56pm Wild Neil||Peace All:

@Ike-like she said her secret place has a pentagram and candles, wheras I am a right wing Catholic. Like that?
Avatar 3:57pm northguineahills:

@Wild Neil: You're always good people

My neighbor's citrus trees go unpicked. I'm tempted to sneak over and take a few.
Avatar 3:57pm Wild Neil||Peace All:

@NGH-be sure to ask first! People get uptight about that.
Avatar 3:58pm βrian:

Oh, hell yeah. What with FL being a stand-your-ground-and-ask-questions-later state and all.

@Brian-yeah, that.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:10pm Linda Lee:

dear god. hear, not here.
Avatar 4:10pm βrian:

There, there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:11pm Devin B.:

My interpretation of Horse Printer is that it's a kind of satire of Mad Men, specifically, and corporate culture in general. I'm also pretty sure it contains many veiled references to the geography and history of Portland, OR.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:11pm Linda Lee:

hear hear! :-D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:11pm steveo:

i'd rather hear here than anywhere else
Avatar 4:11pm fred:

@NGH: When I ordered that book from my usual bookshop, they got it but didn't call me. I went to inquire saying I was having heart surgery a week from then so I'd rather have the book right now. They had just misplaced it, but that made an impression

Did Ran Slavin also did bittersweet melodies? The name sounds familiar
Avatar 4:44pm coelacanth∅:

Linda, only most people are out of their minds.
- and it's people believing the lies the groundskeeper people tell them...the same assholes that pile mulch up to the trunks of trees and charge to cart away leaves, instead of mulching them back into the lawn.

  5:13pm nic:

ouch_my least favorite music
Avatar 5:14pm Fredericks:

This is some of the best stuff I've heard from Freddie Hubbard. Much better than his take on "Feelings."
Avatar 5:17pm northguineahills:

Ihlan Mimaroglu and Freddie Hubbard!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17pm Linda Lee:

at one point in our musical history, all professional jazz musicians were required to cover 'feelings' in some manner.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:18pm Linda Lee:

relatively few of these efforts survive.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:23pm Carmichael:

@Linda: To quote a review of Spinal Tap, "they fill a much-needed void."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:24pm chris:

hate to leave the deep groove here, but its time to donate blood. someone needs it more than i do right now. thanks, Fabio!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:24pm Linda Lee:

ha. yes. :-D
Avatar 5:25pm Fredericks:

Yes, Linda, I recall the time. Only version I cared for at all was NRBQ's because they destroyed it. Flip side of the Me and the Boys single.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:25pm Linda Lee:

good for you, chris!! bravo!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:26pm Linda Lee:

@Fredericks ~ now i just might have to look that one up.

Avatar 5:29pm dale:

sounded like fabio just uncorked a jug of moonshine - it IS after 5....
Avatar 5:29pm Fredericks:

They reissued it as by Coltrane because Coltrane was super popular at the time.

Avatar 5:31pm TDK60:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:31pm Linda Lee:

oh my! i see it too! :-D
Avatar 5:32pm TDK60:

Electronic music but great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:40pm Guido from Cologne:

Just checked it out: The album "Hard Driving Jazz" originally was released under the name of Cecil Taylor. It was an experiment in bringing two young advetourous soloists (taylor and Trane) together. Guess it must have been Tom Wilson's (producer) idea.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:42pm Guido from Cologne:

The later re-releases under the name of Coltrane were attempts of United Artists to cash in posthumously.
Avatar 5:42pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

...like wasn't "new york city R&B" released under just Neidlinger's name first, then Cecil Taylor + Buell N., then at one point just Cecil...? Marketing suits getting involved?
Avatar 5:43pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

as for the duelling bandleader collaborations, that coltrane/don cherry one was quite a diggy.
Avatar 5:45pm fred:

By now that wouldn't happen. Suits are out, all hail marketing organic T-shirts
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:46pm common:
